Twinshock

Is it normal for the clutch to drag on a Montesa Cota 200 as no amount of adjusting seems to cure it.

Hi Hopefully someone can help ! I have a Montesa 172 which the restoration is about complete, however I have a problem with gear selection (goes into first but nothing else), and what appears a very heavy clutch. What I am after is if anyone knows of a good engine/gearbox rebuild shop (or individual !) in the North of England where I could take the bike to (I need to take the complete bike so it can be checked running). Ive googled and there a few specialist twinshock shops, but a long way away from me ! cheers and thanks for looking John

Hi guy's, looking to buy new shocks and wondered if any one uses the Sammy Miler pro shocks? If you do your feedback would be appreciated, also what spring weight do you have if like me you are 14-15 stone(95kg in new money)? Thanks in advance. John.

Any one here thought about getting an Inter center Twinshock anual event started ? Modern And PRE65 got one,what about us then?

Hi guy's i thought i'd start a thread on hot tip's for restoration! as i know a lot of you out there are doing up pre-65 and twinshocks! This would be to everyones benefit helping along a restoration , so heres the first tip, when youve got that old trials bike back home and its looks like its been dragged through a hedge backwards a few times, get a handfull of wire wool and squirt baby oil (yes dont laugh) all over the grimy stuff and rub it well in , you'll find that this will clean up the bike a treat and wiped down with a rag with the same stuff will protect it! ive just done this to a pair (wire wool) akronts and they've come up a treat! everything else i tried …

Hey guys, New to the forum, but I think you may have the expertise I need. For Christmas I bought my girlfriend a 1976 Ossa MAR with a strong running engine, but standard wear from being stuffed in a barn. At this point we've stripped the whole bike down and all that's left is an engine with a header pipe on it, and the frame around it. Question 1) Can I take the frame off without removing the cylinder? I hadn't planned on messing with the engine as it's running fantastic, and not looking forward to getting killed with price and shipping considering the dollar to the euro/pound. Question 2) How the heck do I remove this header pipe? I am only 23 and havn't yet dea…

Hi all just come back from wrighty's show and i found a cooper bantam frame in very good condition it also came with a pair of tank stickers i was told by the seller that it was a very small concern in the late 60s early seventies . Has any one got any info at all on these bikes ??? A picture would be amazing !! .I was thinking 32mm MP forks were used ?? not sure on hubs maybe the REH used on the wassell with chrome dunlop rims . Got a very neat little alloy tank painted white with it as a job lot not sure if its the original or not ??? any help with info would be amazing . Thanks in advance Martin

Hi there My son rides twinshock trials on a whitehawk 80 (and does very well, 8th at the weekend in the Scarborough 2 day in twinshock clubman !)- he also rides modern. However at 12 it's getting a little small for him (will definitely be next year) - however the step up to 125/175/200 is a bit much, I have a TL 125 and Sprite 150, both of which are a bit big. I've seen a 1990 fantic 80 big wheel, air cooled mono. Was thinking of putting a new rear subframe on and converting it to twinshock, as a next step ? Any thoughts or comments ? Cheers John

Hi All. I have got hold of a GasGas rim and want to have it laced onto my 200 hub. Anyone know of a wheel builder in the Southwest UK? Also anyone done this and have an idea of the type of spokes i require? Ta. Steve

I now have a cota 247 Frame no 21M253** circa 1979/1980 I have seen a couple with mods done to the Rear Shocker angle and also the bottom tubes being replaced with a full (more modern style) one peice sump guard and obviously replacing the standard footpegs with some more modern ones. Does any one have a handbook/maual available with all of the fork/gearbox/clutch oil amounts etc Any advice would be a great help. Thanks & a happy New Year Wobbler

I have been offered a 323 Garelli twinshock with a HIRO motor. I know these bikes are few and far between and I know also that HIRO parts are scarce. Any feedback on that? Is the kickstart shaft really designed to break after 376 starts? Are spares available? The bike is complete and has not had a hard life but it is also quite expensive at 1600

Hello all, Does anyone have any old copies of Kickstart, with Peter Purves? From what I remember from the TV, it was brilliant viewing, and should be a great watch for us saddo's. I always remember Eddy Lejeune was the man to beat on Honda. I've scanned google, but not turned up anything. Has anyone re-issued it yet? N.B. Adult version, of course!!!

Any ideas on a firm that supplies original or aftermarket footbegs for Montesa Cota 348?

I'm going to fit a Mikuni flatslide carb VM28-418 to my Montesa 348. Any ideas on a firm that supplies 42 - 33 mm sleeve rubbers? The front spigot outer diameter of Mikuni is 33 mm. The outer diameter of Montesa inlet tube is 42 mm. I've checked Allens and Hug's Bultaco. According to their websites they don't have this size.
