Just wondering how many people stick to Bantam forks when doing a Pre 65 Bantam trials build, are they usable? what mods if any? or is the C15 fork conversion a better bet? I've already got some Bantam forks (D7) so would like to use them if they're suitable, but if not I'll look for others, any recomendations? Thanks.

  3. Hi Guys Thinking of building a Trials Bantam/ Cub & my first issue is front frame modifications. Before I decide which way to go I thought that there must be members out there who have already been down this road. Headstock angle I have a D10 front frame & want to sharpen the headstock angle, been advised to change the front down tube for a C15 tube which is one inch shorter. What headstock angle are we trying to achieve? Please suggest how best this can be done Engine mounts It's usual to move the engine mounts to the left to aid the chain run with a Cub Engine in a Bantam frame, Does anyone have the details? Also what other front frame mod's should I be…

I have a bantam frame. The frame number starts BD25**** but its very faint, I’m not sure of the year or type (think it’s a D7) I’m in the process of fitting a C15 engine, how hard would it be to get a V5 for this frame / Bike?

  5. Started by old trials fanatic,

Just come in out of the garage after wrestling with the rob Homer frame i bought thinking i would save myself a bit of money. OK its CDS not T45 like those Alan Whitton ones but with my level of inexpertise it wont make much difference. Well after spending hours and hours over the last week or two trying to get things to fit i am beginning to wonder if the saving was really worth it. I have had a DRR frame supplied through Alan before and everything just fitted together as it should. No re drilling, no reaming out, no filing etc etc. Plus the welding / brazing is to die for and it seems a shame to paint over it. Is it just me ? Do i just happen to have a Friday frame ? OK…

Sorry for yet another Bantam question but.......B175 frame:- The cast iron lug wel.ded to the top of the frame at rear, the top mounting for the subframe. Is this welded to the frame or is it a lug joining the two sections of frame together? I remember seeing an old film of frames being brazed together on a hearth using lugs and frame .sections being brazed in. I don't want to grind it off and my frame fall in two bits!

  7. Hi, I've got a Bantam with replacement front forks/yokes - one of the top oil seals is knackered and I'm trying to identify the make of forks, does anyone know the make or where I can source a replacement seal. See attached photos. Thanks Elliot

Is there anything to do to a BSA Bantam front hub(std D14 / B175) before it goes to be laced to a 21" rim. I have the rear sorted (widened) just don't want to get it laced to find out I should have done something. Thanks in advance.

Hi All Plodding along with my Bantam build, finally got a chance to put her up on her wheels and i've hit a bit of a problem with the sprocket alignment. The rear is a Bultaco wheel and there is no way of moving the sprocket closer to the hub without some serious machining so my question is can you offset the front sprocket? It is a D7 engine and whilist i haven't managed to measure the difference accurately yet i estimate it is about 5-6mm too far in. The other option is to move the engine over in the frame but the exhaust is already virtually touching the frame down tube. Many thanks in advance Chris

  10. Started by andy m,

I am sorting a front hub to build the wheel. The spokes are small (2.5) guage. Has anyone fitted 3mm, or drilled the hub for bigger?? . Also what rim size are people going for (wm) . Thanks in advance...

  11. Started by blocky,

I'm currently rebuilding a bantam D10a 4 speed engine and i've got a couple of problems.... 1. The 3rd / 4th gear selector fork keeps popping out of engagement with its dog. I'm pretty sure that the selector fork is damaged but it doesn't look like there is any breakage. I have (hopefully) attached a few pics to help explain the problem. Is the fork damaged or am I doing something else silly ? 2. I need to replace the bronze bushes in the final drive gear. Are there any hints or tips for this ?

A while back I bought a BSA Bantam 175 as an unfinished trials project, its a D7 frame but the rear tyre (4.00 x 18) catches the swinging arm. Does anyone know the best mod? Is is a case of extending the swinging arm behind the shock mounts or is their a better way? Cheers Eiger
