  1. Well not actually Betor fork oil but oil in Betor forks Swapped the bits around in the shed the other day between the Sherpa 340 and the BSA B40 trials special. I'd bought some forks off flea bay NOS and have put the stantions in the Sherpa and the Sherpa ones in the BSA B40 which has OSSA sliders as the ones originally in the B40 were marked. All bits swapped over no problem as they are both Betor and now i can put the old parts back on flea bay to recoup some of me money So just thought i would ask: What fork oil do you guys use? Haynes recommends SAE10w but gives 150cc and 180cc in two different parts of the manual, typical Haynes I'm 14 stone of rippling flab …

in advance of Scotland i have just fitted a bicycle digital speedo, having heard that the ignition plays havoc with the wireless types, i fitted a wired one. all works well if freewheeling with a dead engine, but once the engine is running the speedo displays random numbers.. i guess the PVL coil is causing the problem... any one have a solution????

Anybody tried or have knowledge of the big bore kits for the villiers A series bottom ends.Ive been told that you can get them out to 350cc is this correct.Who makes these conversions and what sort of a price, will the crank/big end, clutch and gear box stand the extra power and can you get away with rejetting standard amal carb. Is it a worth while conversion cos i'm thinking along the lines of building a jimmy with one of these engines. Colin

After a second look at the Yorks classic trials website covering the Pre 65 Scottish pics (I really appreciate this photo coverage service being down under) On one pic I noticed the Big John Matchless has a modified primary cover which would indicate the shock absorber spring is removed / changes to the chain drive, the result being a slimmer / reliable good primary gearing and a neat primary drive. I have not noticed this mod previously and am interested in what constitutes the primary drive which looks like a major improvement as well as reducing engine width. Although I have never owned a trials Matchless during the classic period, I have always maintained a great…

What a mare i am having with my tank off my Panther.I got a decent tank last year at the Stafford show(its one of those centre mounted trail bike type jobbies off a 250 bsa). So I had to manufacture some ali mounts to sit it on the bike,A bit of bashing of the lower surface allowed it to mount lower down.So I decided once I was happy to get it blasted and then paint it.So i dropped it off at the blasters and then my dad picked it up the following week. When I saw it i was horrified.they had dented it 3 times on the top and RH side.So after much moaning they at least gave me my money back.So I decided to leave it for last season and then get the dents knocked out in the c…

Hi there, have acquired a 19" rear wheel which appears to be from a lightweight British bike. Brake plate is marked TF Blumfield. I know they did some front hubs/brakes for Velocette Venoms but this is not off a small Velo.. Can't get any more info on 'net. Any ideas if it's something rare before I start hacking about and swapping to alloy rim etc.Pics here Thanks in advance, much appreciated. http://www.loydee.blogspot.com/

Hi Guys. I have decided to build an exact replica of Scott Ellis's last works BSA C15 F. I have several photos of the bike with Scott riding it, but only one picture of the bike from a side view, in Don Morley's book. Has any one out there got any side view shots of the bike, or does any one know where the bike BOK228C is. It is still registered at the DVLA as a BSA 250. ( this is the frame that the copy is now reffered to as an Otter). Regards Charlie.

HI, Somebody out there must have a good tale or two regarding a boxing day trial, passed or present. Amusing, or a hard luck story, or both !. to kick off I'll start, I started up my C15 just to "check it out" on Christmas day afternoon in (I think) 1964. I knocked it into 1st gear and there was a "orrid" clunk, so I pulled the engine out of the frame took it into the warm kitchen at home at striped it and cured the problem. ( a tooth had fallen of a gear). My mom was not amused when I pushed the bike into the kitchen to fit the engine back into the frame, it had got very cold in the shed!, but she turned out as usual on boxing day with large flasks of hot coffee to …

BP4ES plugs are hard to come by (unless you know differently)so I was using a Champion N16Y which is the equivalent. Now they seem to be in short supply but I can get N16YC. The question is, although I know the C stands for copper, does it make any difference ? Thanks Ross
