Just stripped down my 4 speed gearbox, the bearing on the output shaft seems to have a coating of copper on it, I presume it’s a 6205 bearing but it measures .002” over size? I’ve tried a 6205 bearing on the casting and it’s a slide fit at best, I presume the copper coating is to pack it out, has anyone had a similar experience? Or does it use a special bearing?

Some help please guy's. I have just had a British hub co hub c/w with cushdrive assembly restrung with stainless spokes and a new Morad 2.15 alloy rim. All looks lovely with new sprocket and hub powder coated etc etc. However when offered into the James Captain K7 frame and swingarm with the rear drive sprocket aligned to the engine sprocket, the centre of the tyre is about 1" offset to the right of the frame, making the wheel offset to the centre line of the frame. There is an element of adjustment that I have made with spacers etc, but to get the wheel centralised to the centre line of the frame means that the chain is misaligned to the engine drive sprocket. I was …

Do not know if this has been on here before but if so I did not see it, Is it any disadvbantage to run a tubeless type rear tyre with a tube in on a conventional rim as tube type rear tyres are not stocked by many dealers.

I use Pirelli MT43 tyres on my B40 which unlike a lot of trials tyres are ok for road use. I once tried a Michelin trials competition and after a couple of miles it heated up and the bike was un rideable. I want a tyre for my Norton but as it has a 19” wheel tyre choice is limited. Pirelli don’t do an MT43 and the only others I can find are an Ensign which isn’t really a proper trials tyre and a Mitas. The Mitas looks like a full 400x19 trials tyre but I’m unsure as to whether it will be too soft for the road. The bike will mostly be used on the road but I might do the occasional long distance trial etc. I’m not bothered about wear characteristics or trials grip but …

I’ve just acquired a bantam D7 bottom end (everything accept a barrel piston & head) I would like to fit a D14 top end, I presume it’s a straight fit. But did the D14 have any difference to the crankshaft, crankcase volume or transfer port alignment? Basically what I want to know is, will I get the same power output as a D14?

I am preparing a1955 James in trials trim for this years Beamish Trophy Trial. I want to improve the robustness of the ignition system by doing away with the villiers ignition coil and using an external coil. I have just ordered a FS1E 6 volt AC coil. I need to know in very simple easy steps how to modify the current villiers system sso that I can use the new coil. A wiring diagram would be a great help. I have read the page in the Villiers improvement handbook but it has confused me [not difficult as elctrics are not my strong point.] I really need some expert help but in very simple terms. Can anyone help. I will watch to see what help is given and I can also be contact…

Could someone help with an answer to my silly question?. I have just purchased a set of the new type of tube gaskets, the set comes with a large black rubber seal which I assume goes in the bottom and two composite type gaskets of different thicknesses . The black one was a right pain to get in as it seemed too thick but I eventually got it in with the aid of some silicon lube, Now for the silly question; what do you do with the TWO composite gaskets?? I would rather ask the question and get advice before putting it together and it leaking. (My cub has a square barrel and head) any advice gladly received

For anyone with a pre 60 registered or manufactured bike/vehicle. I tried to tax my AJS today and the computer said no - Mot not on record,it runs out on the 20th of Feb.(One side of the form says Mot required, the other side says from the 20th of Nov 2012 its not needed) The new tax disc is from the 1st of march.Tried local post office and online, the helpful lady gave me a number to call. Some time and many options later I got hold of the chap that actually knows - you need a form V112 available here; http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_065277.pdf This will allow the post office to let you get your free…

I See some billet yokes for the cub have a 1.5° offset between the fork tubes and spindle, which way does this offset go? (Front wheel towards the down tube, or further away) And what’s the reason, to tighten up the steering angle or to help the front wheel clear the frame?

Hello I have a nice rear wheel built on a D10 half width hub that I used to run in a C15 frame and swinging arm. I was thinking about using it in a B40 WD frame and swinging arm I have for a vintage Mx build. The spindle is obviously a little short in the B40 WD swinging arm, are there any other longer spindles that fit the Bantam hub to help with this?
