Hi, I am carrying out the final assembly of my Tiger Cub and can't find which oil pipe is 'supply' and which oil pipe is 'return' on the bottom of the engine. I am fitting a top tube type oil tank and have put a feed from the return pipe for the rockers. Also what is the general view on fitting an external oil filter to Tiger Cubs? I have one but will get the bike running before I consider fitting it. I intend to change the oil regularly any way, so the only advantage I can see is that it would add another 1/4 litre of oil to the system. The disadvantage being that there are more possible leaking points! Any help would be appreciated, Bruce.

Hello Am I right in thinking that to remove the front chain sprocket on a D1 Bantam, I need to remove the left side cover that houses the point and flywheel thing or am I missing something that will allow me to remove it without the cover coming off? If this is the case, the manual states to lock the flywheel in place you have to lock the engine via the conrod, there must be a better easier way surely?? thanks

I know very little about these bikes which I believe were ridden by Dave Rowlands and Mick Bowers, do any of them remain, were they very special. If BSA had perseverd with them might they have had a Bultaco beater?

Hi All, I have the opportunity to get a 1964 DOT Demon square section scrambles frame with 2 Villiers engines(197 and 250). Can anyone tell me the difference between the trials and scrambles frames and what the necessary mods would be to make it suitable and/or better for trials please?

Sorry for yet another Bantam question but.......B175 frame:- The cast iron lug wel.ded to the top of the frame at rear, the top mounting for the subframe. Is this welded to the frame or is it a lug joining the two sections of frame together? I remember seeing an old film of frames being brazed together on a hearth using lugs and frame .sections being brazed in. I don't want to grind it off and my frame fall in two bits!

Hi, Could anyone tell me what steering head angle is generally regarded as the best. Most Trials frame builders seem to have arrived at the same conclusion, Miller Ariel's, Faber Otter frames etc... A friend is building a frame and has asked me if I can find out for him. I don't need to know about trail or any other factor - just the angle of the steering head please. Steve.

Hi all, couple of questions I have a 62 C15T, is there such a beast as a 20inch front Trials tire still being produced? Also it has a very tired monobloc should I refurbish it and buy a new slide, gaskets etc: or bite the bullet and buy a new one for 165quid.

tired of hitting the wrong lever on the cub after riding my beta . the cure would seem to be moving the brake lever over to the right, and using a cable instead of brake rod. anyone experience of this( did don smith do it on Greeves, was it done on bultacos'?) if so what should it look like or have you a picture. or can you reference or link a picture cheers yours in the garage..TS

Can someone tell me the size of the o rings on the rocker arm shafts? These fit in the rocker box when the shafts are pressed in. My gasket /seal kit does not include them. I have some 1/6" cross section, 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD o rings but they look too thick, like the shafts will never press into the rocker box..

hi there, I'm planning to convert my Royal Enfield Crusader from an Amal Concentric to a Villiers S22. Trouble is I have little or no information on settings or tuning of these carbs. I understand that these carbs are very good once set up, and if it was good enough for Gaunty! Does anyboby out there have any tuning or base settings for one of these carbs with the 250 RE, I also have a S24 and a S25, would one of these be better suited? I know that the current trend is for 22mm Dellorto's but at

Hello, I'm after some advice about a BSA B40 trials project. I'm a 19 yr old engineering student and have almost completed my first bike restoration of a Montesa Cota 348. It was a fairly simple bike, but I have learnt a lot and I think it's time I took on another project. I want a British bike, (which I wanted initially, but thought I'd start on something simpler and cheaper!). I want to use the bike for trials, so the B40 comes to mind. (The C15 seems a nice bike too, and is probably better for trials, but I'd much rather have a 350cc) So in a few months time I will be looking to buy a BSA B40 for restoration. It doesn't have to be a runner (I'd actually rather it d…

So, I'm getting to the point where I feel the need to invest in an electronic mag for the old girl, especially as the rest of the factory team has taken the leap. What do people think of the BTH electronic mags, I hear they now have a new model for off road use which allows the guts to be mounted up out of the way of mud and water? Are there any alternatives to the BTH? Please send me a message if you'd prefer, cheers all

Well the magneto went off yesterday to be rebuilt,so now I can spend a bit of time sorting other bits and pieces out.All I want to know is what the modern take on tappet clearances and ignition timing. I dont have a shop manual for it,but Don Moreley sugggests using wider than the factory 6thou in/8thou ex.From memory the igntion should be set at 1/2" BTDC at full advance. So does anyone have any suggestions for modern day use ? Its still running a monobloc which works very well, other than that I can only assume its pretty much standard. One last question, the oil pump plunger diameters look like they are Ariel rather than the Triumph ones that get used.If I upgrade it do …

Hi all, first post here so here goes.. What are the best donors for 'Fiddle' forks? I have some old long roadholders off an ES2, but have no knowledge of Marzocchis and Betors. What are the newest that are suitable for alteration , in fact, can you buy new anywhere? I'll probably ask mr Whitton to work his magic on them, just want to assemble as much kit and knowledge first Dave0304

Expecting to use alloy barrell, modified Fantic head ?, electronic ignition, replacement carb, etc, etc. Would be great to hear from someone who has done this recently and built a good engine ?
