Hi There / New to the Forum I have been searching the web for details on Pro Trials rider setups to see what You can do to modify or improve Your Trials bike / After searching all I can seem to find is a little information of Cabestany's Preference for an Enduro Clutch on his Sherco Factory 300 ST. I have noticed theres a Golden Cylinder attached to the Chain Side of Cabestany's bike in pictures from various Competitions / Does anyone know what this is ??? I thought it might have been a special Ohlin's external Oil Shock ? Any ideas Guys n Girls ?? Also if anyone has anything to Add to this Topic or has any Pro setup questions themselves please…

Would there be any harm in riding a trials bike as if it was a dirt bike? I'm talking hanging out in 5th gear going 30mph and such on flat terrain. I know they are built for going over obstacles and uphill but would just cruising on them in the dirt do anything bad overtime?

Is it just me, or is anybody bothered or even scared that the internal combustion engine, That perfect sound and smell of an engine is pretty rapidly disappearing. I've just seen on another web site that an 8 year old has won his local championship on a very small electric osset, beating adults on petrol bikes. Also in this years Manx GP electric powered bikes lapped at 98MPH. Both of these pretty much prooving that electric power can do what petrol power can. Hi everyone, I'm currently looking around for a good 2nd hand trials bike. I rode trials for 3 years when i was 11 and i'm now 22! I've ridden bike-trials up until a couple of years back but fancy getting another motorbike for some fun and local trials! From what I've read a Beta rev 3 250 2008 would be a reasonably good bike for me. What should I look out for when viewing and how much should I expect to pay for a really clean example? Thanks Hugh

Hi just wondering if anyone can help I have a beta 125 2004 trials I went out today and revs stuck on full and I pulled kill switch no joy still didn’t cut out so had to put ht cap off checked carb and throttle in fine not stuck not nicks in cable slider hits bottom carb fine soon as I start it just revs up full any ideas thanks

Today I finally got around to properly cleaning up my chain and sprockets (half an hour with the parts washer, should have done it sooner!) and I noticed my front sprocket has noticeable wear, while the chain and back sprocket look fine ... if this was a road bike I'd be ordering a new set, but since this is a little 125 with a chain tensioner as I ok to carry on for a good while yet? Do you replace the lot, or just whats worn? This is my first trials bike, so I'm still learning the finer points of it's maintenance!

I’m think about getting a new bike and find lots of articales talking about all the changes in various bikes but no comairisons. Any other type of bike they will do shootouts and comparisons talking about the good and bad points of the bikes but I can’t find anything like that for trials bikes. Anyone know of a publication that does those sort of things? Thanks.

When i was last out on my bike the chain tensioner got wrappped round the back sprocket and the bolt and spring were lost, so i decided to order a new kit. And after fitting the bolt will not tighten and now fear the same will happen again I reilise the thread is stripped in rear swing arm. Is this a common fault for 06 betas? Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be greatley received cheers

Went to Cyprus on holiday this summer and wondered if they had Trials there as a sport. They have rallying, obviously loads of bikes around, I figured surely someone somewhere must do it. Also with the large British influence there over the years I would have thought it's possible. Anyone know anything as next time I'm there I wouldn't mind checking it out, loads of brilliant terrain out there.

Hello, I ride enduro, especially I like tight technical terrain in the steep woods. I thought it would be fun to get myself a trials bike to train some moves. my enduro bike is a ktm 250 4stroke. Out of all trial motorbike manufactures the Beta dealer is the closest, therefore I am considering buying a beta unless someone here will tell me this is not a good bike and I should get another brand. Now I mostly write here to ask if I should buy 2 stroke or 4 stroke. I've been running twinshocks and Pre 65 all my life but have recently bought a 270 Rev 3 and upon investigation the rim is corroded on the inside, not as bad as a twinshock Honda or Air cooled Yamaha if you know what i mean, around all the spoke nipples and i think this is why it kept going down. I've cleaned it up as best i can but cant get into around each nipple without a wheel rebuild and is so would probably just have to fit a new rim. I've been told by a couple of people that you can run a tubeless tyre on a tubeless rim with a tube but without security bolts. I've just started riding again after a break and am amazed that tyre technology has almost completely stood still in the last 12 years! It was always Michelin X11 then and still seems to be now! Over on the round and round world of trackdays, tyres have moved on in huge leaps! I guess there's not a lot of cash in trials for the tyre manufacturers... Anyways, on one of the club websites someone is offerring Vee- Rubber tyres. They are considerably cheaper than Mich, IRC or Dunlop. Has anyone used them? Are they a serious alternative or made out of plastic? Thanks Graham

after the great input on the fork protection, is there any protection made for a rev '3 swingarm, I know they did for the techno , but on lampkins drawing of the rev I cant see any, any DIY specialities you've done would be great cheers all. mick.

Motobatics. That's what trials have become. Trials bikes have evolved too far from what the average motorcycle rider is interested in. Many, if not most, US motorcyclist has no idea what a trials event is. I suggest a new sport called Motobatics. Start with the current trials bikes, and allow unlimited development. Use only artificial sections like some the demonstration setups we see. Have vertical walls, spiraling loops, six 3' steps, and jump gaps with difficult approaches and landings. This could all be setup where there's parking for spectators, and camera crews. We already have stunt bikes, just merge the two. It would be a competition with very light, powered machi…
