Hi. I'm in the progress of getting an old TL125S back to the street and make it street legal. I got everything working so far, except the tachometer, because i'm missing the gear in the front wheel hub (part no 44804-355-003). This gear seems to be impossible to find, no one can get it. I tried to fit one of a XL125, but thats too large to fit. Now i'm curious if theres another alternative that's fitting, maybe from another honda. I don't want to use another tachometer or make any dirty hacks, but thats an option if anything else fails. Any good advice on alternatives? Thanks in advantage

I can see from the manual the manufacturers recommend SAE10-40, but which type? Nowadays the manufacturers (I've always stuck to Smith & Allen) seem to have semi synthetic and fully synthetic, other makes say there have a Mineral oil. It is all getting a bit confusing - especially when the same oil reservoir serves the engine, clutch and gearbox, a little guidance is needed.....

I have had a honda trials bike in my shed for around the past 7 years with a big box of spares, it was given to me by my uncle. Who in the late 70's and early 80's worked for the HRC trials team as a mechanic. He was given the bike from the factory and said it was a special one off. When I was first given it I got it running but since then it has been covered over. After a little research I believe I have a Honda RTL 360 - http://honda-trials.....a-rtl-360.html Condition wise its not been touched for probably 25 years and does not have any graphics unlike the ones in the above link but would run again with a clean out of the carb. Wondering if anyone knows anymore abou…

Yeah, what could go wrong? What I really want is a 1979 Seeley Honda 'cause they stir my soul better than any other trials bike out there. Seeking to do an AHRMA trials in a couple of years, I notice that the modern classic rule book allows the 79 xl185s to be used for ahrma trials. So I found a core bike and am researching what needs done to make a respectable trials bike that stays within the rules. I don't see much evidence of others taking on this nonsensical project, but if anybody knows about it being done well, I'd love a steer toward learning more. Here are the results of my early research: Don't know rake angle, but targeting 27.5 degrees after I…

I have purchased a TL125D as a first trials bike. This was sold new in Japan then exported when it was second hand. This model was also sold new in France. I would like to find a parts book, a company that can supply parts, and a blue right side side cover. Many parts are the same as the TLR200 but it would be good to be able to order from the right parts number rather than guessing which model Honda used the same parts. All replies welcome, Peter.

Hi, I have an unmolested fully road legal 1983 TLR 200. (not the later Reflex) What electrical items can be removed for trials that will not affect its starting/running? How easy is it? And does anyone have a wiring diagram? The questions have probably been asked nemerous times but all i seem to find is answers for the Reflex model! Regards Brent

Hi everyone, Looking for a little bit of help, I have been re-building a 1983 TLR200, it has a T joint crankcase breather hose, i am unsure where these connect to as I cannot see any connectors for these to hook into. Slow process but getting on top of it, tnx in advance for any and all help. Cheers Dave

  11. I am attempting a front fork seal replacement. I have the Honda service manual, but the procedure isn't covered in it. I've done some internet searching, but there appears to be nothing. There are enough RTLs out there you'd think there would be something I could find? The problem I'm having is the stanchion tube will not come out of the lower leg. There seems to be something connected to the bottom of the stanchion tube that stops the tube from coming out. Whatever it is seems to be contacting the backside of something, I'm guessing the fork seal? If you peer in you see something that is a part of the stanchion tube (it rotates with the stanchion tube), looking…

  12. 91053-ND9-000 What are RTL owners doing for a replacement when the original is worn out? Yes I know the RS125R uses the same in the top position, but that information doesn't seem to be of any help.

I'am in the process of restoring a RTL250 from 1985. At this moment i'am busy with the wheels. Both wheels need new spokes and rims. I have measured the offset of the wheels but i have doubts on the rear wheel. I have measured 7,5mm. At this moment i don't have the possibility to line out with the front wheel or what ever. Does anyone know the real offset or is 7,5 mm OK ?

Hey all, new to the forum, I recently traded a restored xr500r for a 1986 Honda reflex (plus a pit bike). I’m currently going through the lighting right now to get it street legal again. I’ve run into a broken headlight and speedo/idiot light cluster. I’ve sourced the speedo gauges on eBay, but I was possibly hoping to switch headlight to LED. Has anyone done this before? If so, what size light would it be? I measured my headlight at about 5.25in in diameter, but I can only seem to find 5.75in headlight assemblies.

Hello All, NewB here, Just curious if any of you can help me out with a 1986 Honda Reflex that I’ve purchased recently. It doesn’t have any lights or gauges. But I’d like to add some, this is what I have to work with this far. Can any of you help me complete the circuit ? Any help is much appreciated!

Recently tracked down a 86 RTL250 here in the US, really great shape runs well other than the cam chain is noisy, Ive tried adjusting with some improvement but not enough. I need some help on a cross reference for the chain, is it the same as a TLR or XR ? and is front and rear brake shoes the same as another model? Thanks, Steve

Hi, I noticed a post from a while ago about rebuilding a TLR top end. I'm doing a top end on a TLR 200 myself and found that Honda discontinued the piston. Apparently a XR 200 piston with a thicker base gasket could work? Does anybody know if this modification works? Thanks!
