I believe the CBT, moped power restrictions, restricting under 19s to 125s and the complex and expensive motorcycle drivers licensing system is putting quite a few off taking up motorcycling and trials. Much of this legislation was because Tony Blair signed the UK up to harmonising UK & EU driving licences before knowing what this would result in. When this legislation was introduced into the UK under the coalition government they saw no safety benefit in it but implemented it as agreed by previous government. If sufficient people write to their MPs and the ACU & MAG apply enough pressure there might just be a chance that changes beneficial to motorcycling could …

Hey all, I have sent off my entry for the Brian Fowler trial at Hook woods (not had the comf back though). I started trials properly this year and have done about 8 club ones in the novices with a one win but mostly coming 4/5th. Will i be out of my depth over there? I figure "novice is novice" so i should be ok, plus really wanted to have a go at something a bit different and the fact that its a national should make it exciting to be involved in. I went over for a look on the SHerco open day and those big rocks looked terrifying ha ha!! But i walked what i thought to be the easy markers and it seemed ok. Love to here what you think, or to know if anyone is going as i…

This is actually my first ever post on here, despite having been vaguely reading for about a year now. Anyway, on topic, I'm currently hoping to get back into Trials after a hiatus of a good 6 years or so. Currently I live in Cornwall, so finding practice areas is no problem at all. However, in a couple of months I hope to be moving back to Bristol, fairly near the centre, and I'm not sure how easy it's going to be to find places to ride around there. By the time I get there I should be driving, so travelling with the bike shouldn't be too much of a problem. But I don't want to get a nice new bike only to find in a few months I have nowhere to ride it. So... can any…

  13. As everyone knows - the St Davids - round 1 if Brit Champ was cancelled so Mitchell - May 29th now becomes first round. The organisers are working hard - but inform us there are still some entries available. At the start of each year we receive complaints from people who do not believe they are high enough the entry priority list - cannot get a ride in series etc - only to find at first round - many have not entered ! We always re- do the lists after the first round - so here is a chance for some riders to move swiftly up the priority order. There has probably been a fair bit iof confusion and dismay through the DEFRA situation - with some doubts about exactly wh…

Why is it that when some riders are timed out on sections in the Colin Appleyard British Championship the team reports say ...APPARENTLY timed out. It was shirty who said it last year about Ross Danby, and this year it was team Atom refering to Michael Brown. Both riders were definitely out of time. Ross' minder seemed to think he had over 30 seconds spare, which cleared up where the error lay in most peoples minds. To me, "apparently" implies that there is cheating. Maybe some riders are looking for excuses, but if it wasn't for all the observers at all trials giving up their time, then the riders wouldn't have the sport they enjoy today.

After the British Championship Organisers meeting held in Rugby last Saturday I can confirm the following. For the 7 British Championship rounds - the current F.I.M marking system will be used. There will be a time limit on each Section - but this has not been set yet - but will be the same for each round - each section. It is only these 7 rounds that will see this experimental change in 2006 - and the situation will be closely monitored. Another change next year is that the best 6 rounds will count toward final classification - ie rider can drop 1 round. Entry fee's etc remain same. Obviously this change wil cause controversy - and there was much debate in the meet…

Now that rules and format of this year British Champ have been sorted I thought as C of C for one of the rounds this year I would see what sort of sections riders actually like. At last years event we tried to keep sections flowing and rideable without too much balancing and hopping as we where a little uncertain of how the time issue was going to work. With this experience under our belts we could drift into making the section tighter and a little more extreme. But is this what is wanted ? I think one of the sectons that was cleaned least last year was a muddy bank that looked more like a clubman route! The 6 foot steps wher cleaned more often especially by the top rid…
