As many will know, this year the South Eastern Centre decided to go non stop for all of their championship rounds. Now that the season is over, I thought I would just write my view on how it went and what I learnt. When the decision was made, I must admit I was quite pleased. The reasons why I was looking forward to the change are two fold, and it is perhaps fair to say that these reasons are a bit selfish. Firstly, I have never been the best at hopping and so getting rid of this skill was one way I could try to keep up and have good rides without having to ride every weekend. This weekend we attended the southern experts trial (non stop) The sections in the clubman expert were well set out and the weather was cold and crisp. Unfortunately this is where the good points end. There was no consistency in the observers what so ever. I witnessed riders clearly stopping and getting away with it and other not so well known riders getting 5s there were many arguments between observers and clippers wether it was a 5 or not. One observer was even heard to say I gave him a 2 because he went backwards !! I watched riders stoping with one foot down and getting a 3 and the next rider doing the same and getting a 5. Hi Im thinking of riding the sheffield and hallamshire trial at dudwood farm on sunday. Im just wondering does anybody know what time it starts as i cant find any information about it on the web. Also what rules does the club run and what are sections like difficulty wise?

What's the clubs stance on the SACU just now and will all the clubs be sticking with the SACU next year and should everyone be renewing there licences?

Popped over to buy some kit and had a go on a few of the new bikes. JTG 250, very nice, light, great suspension, grips great, didn't like the gear lever travel and lack of positive action/gear selection. OSSA 280, very light but feels old fashioned, engine not particularly that nice, didn't like it straight away to be honest, so not really fair to say much more. (I nearly bought one 16 months ago, unseen or ridden, TF I didn't) Beta 125, great bike, I could get much better results with this bike, feels light and small, front forks were awfull, wooden and felt like they bottomed out easily, but grips very well and has just enough power for a clubman. Can some one explain ? The "comp levy" can't be £5 per rider per event !!! Does this also mean that ACU licence holders are going to be charged an extra £6 per event ??

Sorry to say that the trial due to run at Clyro Court on Sunday has had to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond the control of the Club. Jennie

Hi to everyone, new on here and so first round is on me ( so to speak!!!!!!). I originally came from a road background and bought an enduro bike to get me into the muck so to speak. I am between enduro machines at the moment but have fancied a trials to mess about on for fun and balance practice. I have an option at buying a beta 250 techno 2001 for £800 but having no knowledge of trials machines I wouldn't know if I'm buying a pup or not. So if anyone has any idea it would be great to hear from yous. I know that with this age of a bike maintenance will be necessary, but will the parts like piston, levers, bearings etc cost an absolute fortune or should I be safe …
