SSDT Chat

Such a popular event it deserves it's own forum!

  1. Started by overthehill,

The SSDT organisers are constantly looking forward to the future of the event. One factor that becomes more and more difficult is the management of the West End carpark. This years bad weather highlighted some of the disadvantages with the venue as it must be one of the most exposed start areas in the trials world ! Another major problem is car parking and this has got to the point of detracting from the general competitor and spectator experience. The organisers of the SSDT are currently considering a move to the Lochaber Rural Complex - this location is within a few miles of Fort William (beside Nevis range ski centre) offering under-cover secure facilities for…

With the SSDT Centenary fast approaching, sponsors are now being sought for the 2010 SSDT. If you're interested in sponsoring a day, you can view our Sponsorship Flyer. Although this refers primarily to sponsorship of any given day, we also allow smaller sponsorship packages and are happy to consider any ideas that you may come up with. Daily sponsorship brings with it 5 guaranteed entries to the 2010 event, but please note that sponsorship must be confirmed by the time entries close on Friday 18th December if you want to take advantage of that part of the deal! If you want any further details you'll find our contact details on the brochure, or you can email us at the …

  3. Some of you will remember all my gurning last year when I cycled from Glasgow to Edinburgh for charity....well, I can't have gurned enough, because this year we've got an SSDT squad doing the same thing! Mark Whitham (Clerk of the Course), Davy Robinson and Ian Boyd (Assistant Clerks of the Course, aka The Beardies) and myself are taking up the challenge once again, and along with some companions that we've bribed to join us, we're cycling from Glasgow to Edinburgh on Sunday 13th September as part of the Pedal For Scotland fundraising extravaganza. As many of you will know, the SSDT regularly has to call on the services of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue squad to help us o…

What dates will the 2010 SSDT be held? Which Hotel would be best to stay at if Parc Ferme stays at the West End Car Park and I would not want a car?

The trialscentral.com DVD is now complete and I'll start taking orders next weeks. Again it's being offered un-copy protected for a small fee which only covers our very basic production costs. To make the order process easier for us to keep track of (we don't have a full time business here) ordering we be done via a buy now offer on ebay with payment via paypal. Again two camera men spent the week on bikes filming and getting very wet. The format will be much the same as previous years but due to the poor weather this year there is no helmet cam footage. The video tries to capture the whole event from sign on through to the award presentation but focuses mainly on sectio…

As many of the SSDT regulars will know, the SSDT supports the local Cystic Fibrosis charity by means of a donation from the takings of the programme sales each year. On Saturday 7th November, Billy McIsaac is setting off on the journey of a lifetime to the Himalayas to need some much needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis. Billy says "I decided that going to Everest would be a great way to celebrate my sixtieth birthday and in turn do something positive for others and myself. My hope is that I can raise

  10. .....I'm WALKING it! In order to raise money for some very deserving Scottish charities a team of 4 of us are taking part in the RBS Caledonian Challenge walking 54 miles across SSDT territory in 20 hours. Setting off at midday we will carry on walking through the night, with the route taking us from the start about 10 miles north of Fort Willaim, down to Fort William, up Glen Nevis, down into Kinlochleven, up Pipeline, over the Devil's staircase, across Glencoe moor and all the way down to the banks on Loch Lomond. So far we have clocked up about 300 miles of practice walks and have lost count of the number of blisters, so please dig deep and take a few minutes of yo…
