SSDT Chat

Such a popular event it deserves it's own forum!

  1. Started by city trials,

While the top guns and young kids are just getting started, today's the day where the clubman riders start to look a little worn out. Some even wonder if they can last three more days? With that comes my shot of the day. Again, if you're not a TC supporter, pay up or you're out of luck.

More than half way done. Speaking of half, here's a shot of the other half of trials. The ladies. You won't find her sitting on the sidelines, no sir. More than half the guys will look up at the board and see their name behind good ole number 27 in the 2007 SSDT program guide. Let's not forget, she's got a pair of family members hovering around the top ten too. Young Girl Sunt is my photo of the day.

Number Eighty, caught dabbing. Only #264 has dabbed less in the last five days. So this is one of those rare shots. That's unless someone claims he didn't dab in the photo? Runner-up cool picture goes to the photo taken moments before this alleged dab.

Paw Moffat is away to the But n Ben early to practice his patter for ssdt week. Every morning this week he'll be in the West End car park with Wee Jean's hairbrush & wearing Wee Stevie's ear muffs holding interviews with many unsuspecting tourists. With any luck the local constabulary will only caution him for this behaviour & he'll still be available for PF duties next week.

NEWSFLASH It has ben reported that at 00:01Hrs the SSDT has been cancelled this year due to the following circumstances: Due to the heavy rain and snow all the rocks in the sections have been washed away, example Leanachen is now like a MAIN ROAD and does not pose a challenge Octagon were going to run the time schedules for the week, it was reported that the days have been altered significently, but that could all change The Town Council have decided to put a total ban on ALCOHOL the first week in May statement reads ''In support of alcohol abuse and the fact we feel you will ride better if you get an early night, no alcohol can be bought or consumed during this wee…

  7. Started by highland lassie,

As most fans of the SSDT will already be aware, Edinburgh & District Motor Club are releasing two special editions to commemmorate one hundred years of the Scottish Six Days Trial. The first is the long-awaited and much anticipated Six Days In May - MTBcut's take on the SSDT Centenary. We're expecting that to be ready for distribution around the end of this month and the launch will be announced on the SSDT website as soon as it is available. The second is the Centenary book, and we can now confirm that "SSDT : The First Hundred Years" is now available to buy. Read all about it and find out how to get your copy over on the SSDT website. The first run is limited…

I've decided to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation which aims to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses while i attempt this years SSDT. I know a lot of people are struggling financially right now, so only donate if you can. The total i raise will be matched by my private sponsors from my bike-shows so hopefully anything anyone can spare will be worth double. This year I've dropped down from a 280 Gas Gas and have been riding a 125 which i intend to get round scotland on (seemed a good idea at the time). My training's been going well and the addition of 24kg, 28kg kettlebells and a 50kg sandbag have proved suitably hard so …

Just a few of my collection When they started using the front number board the club used to collect these at the end on the finishers ramp, I suppose the intention was to maybe use them the following year, but that never happened. Better than the ''Home Made'' Yellow and Black ones that had to be located front and both sides at the rear, as previously mentioned they were the major part of your bike preperation and get it all wrong in a section and the side ones used to cut through your ''Ellgren's'' like a carving knife. Not long now how's all you prep going, mine is fine this year planning what to do each day, Lye in, Big Breakfast, Look at the Weather, Watch a bit…

Competitors from as far afield as America, Japan, Australia, Canada and representing more than twenty nations, gathered in Fort William earlier today as they completed the formalities ahead of the first day of the 2013 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) tomorrow. The West End Car Park, which will serve as base camp for the event over the coming six days, was a bustling Mecca of motorcycling throughout the day despite the damp conditions, as riders carried out their final preparations for the almost week-long adventure that awaits them. The entry of just under two hundred and seventy riders from diverse countries such as Sweden, Kenya, Estonia and Andorra is made up of a mix…

Please use this topic for posting feedback on the SSDT DVD after you've watched it. Good, bad or indifferent, it doesn't matter. A pat on the back is nice but Matt and I would like to hear what you think so we can modify our future efforts if needs be. Please tell us what you like and dislike, which clips is your favourite and that sort of thing. I someone out there would like to do a proper review that would be great. I'd ask Andy to make it a sticky along with the post telling you how to order a copy. If your looking here for that info please go back a page and look for the release topic which contains a link to the order page.

  15. Right, I'm back home with all the footage. I'll be editing it down over the coming weeks and should have the DVD complete and available soon after. Keep an eye out here for more news. Again this year this will be a non profit making enterprise with prices covering only production cost and P&P.

We've had an astonishing amount of last minute cancellations for this year's SSDT, mostly due to injury (you're a careless lot!!), which means that over the past fortnight every rider who contacted us to stay on the late reserve list has got an entry. That's great, but we've had a further four withdrawals today! If you were on the reserve list, and still fancy a shot at the trial at this late stage, get in touch with me and we'll get a place sorted for you - they'll be allocated on a first come, first served basis and you'll need to contact me by email if you're keen - I'm on the road now, so telephone and fax aren't options! The email address is ssdtoffice@ssdt.wanado…
