On Saturday morning my Dad, Duncan Young a long time member of the Stevenson Club, suffered a Stroke as we were packing up ready to leave at the end of the day. He's okay and was moved from Fort William back to the local hospital in Ayrshire today. I'm really happy to say his condition is improving in leaps and bounds. This post is purely a huge thanks to the members of the trials fraternity who have passed their best wishes and messages of support back to us by phone, email and every other method possible since Saturday. It's probably impossible to contact everyone again so on behalf of the whole Young family THANKS I asked the boss if it was okay to put this in here, …

Excuse my ignorance but...I am very new to the sport (weeks) but have been aware of the SSDT's for a long time and since being on here I have read numerous times about how concerned they are about losing sections etc, and rightly so, and hense why they make such a drive to stop spectators riding off road them self, however, I can't stop thinking it's all being used by the authorities to brake your back with! By this I mean, the possible threat of losing things, surely it was be an enormous own goal for the local area, local authority, local land owners etc etc to make any attempt to stop things. The world attention the area gets, the influx of visitors, the money the loc…

Many congratulations to Dougie on his tenth outstanding success at what must be the worlds premier event. I'm sure that H Martin Lampkin would have been the proudest of fathers. Also great to see Jack Sheppard from Suffolk do so well to finish fourth.

So here is some questions, which will follow with more questions in the near future - Gear. I was thinking on Gaerne oiled boots (on the way) with...which is the most comfortable pants/jersey/gloves? I have the MSR ISDE Pack-Jack as very light, foldable into itself rain jacket... - Camelback? which tools? - How it's work on the end of the day if I want to do some mechanical work? Can I use mechanic? Do I have limited time and special space to do it? - Can I get between fuel stops on the original gas tank or should I get auxiliary tank on the fork? Any other recommendations, tips and ideas are more than welcome. Cheers! Yoram Lavee

  18. Overnight leader James Dabill - Beta held his nerve brilliantly to secure the win during a tense and close finish to the centenary edition of the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT). Riding at the front of the field Dabill lost marks as early as the second group at Upper Mamore to see his advantage reduced to just two marks and then saw things come far too close for comfort as he dropped a further dab at Leanachan. Holding just a one mark lead going into Ben Nevis, Dabill showed great composure by cleaning all six sections in what looked like a certain winning performance until he parted with another dab at Nevis Forest to leave him tied on the same marks overall as Alexz Wigg…

  19. The 101st edition of the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) is underway and is already set up for another enthralling week-long battle in the Highlands with five riders currently sharing the lead, each on zero marks, at the end of the opening day. Last year's winner James Dabill (Beta) is amongst three previous victors who are tied at the top of the leader board after a relatively easy first day for the front-runners. Dabill is locked in a five-way fight with 2010 winner Alexz Wigg (Gas Gas), five times SSDT winner Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas), Richard Sadler (Sherco) and Jordi Pascuet (JotaGas) who has made a dream start for the new Spanish brand on its SSDT debut.Monday dawne…
