Got myself an AJS 250 Stormer and going to do some classic scrambles, anyone an expert on tips for reducing the clutch drag, my gearbox tends to crunch and the bike lurches forward when put into gear, not to bad when its warm it just annoys me. (have cleaned out inside cases and changed the oil) Also does anyone know the best way to check if the gear oil in my gearbox is R40, I think its R40 just not sure and would like to change it to an EP mineral, if it is R40 anyone got any tips to flush it out. Regards Andy

Pacific Northwest motocross has been a very colorful scene for many years, and a central part of the motocross season has been the AMA national motocross at Washougal mx park. This pastoral setting has been the scene of many an epic battle featuring dozens of spectacular characters from the early days around 1973, to present day riders such as Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham etc. bellowing around on huge four stroke machines, but just recently the hallowed hills of Washougal MX park heralded the return of vintage racing on it's dark brown earth and loamy berms. Saturday May 19th the track was set up expecially for the older machines with most of the whoops and jump…

I read today that Hakan Carlqvist passed away on July 6. Growing up reading about him in Dirt Bike and Motocross Action mags I always admired his talent and hard charging. God speed.

I’ve just dug my Montesa vr250 out for a blast, only to find the motorplat stator has failed! I have a box full of motorplat stators but they all have an arrow pointing anti-clockwise, the montesa runs clock-wise! (would it still be possible to still use one?) Failing that has anyone ever used Bradford ignitions for a repair?

So here are some pics of one of my creations. It has been an amazing machine to ride and very much worth the effort of building it. It has been an incredible amount of work to get it this far, but I have found it a worthwhile job, to say the least. The custom engine work includes a case port at the rear of the cylinder, and all kinds of trick mods done by Rich Gagnon, of Rich's Taylor'd porting of Utah. This is quite fast for a 125. I suspect it could hang with a modern 125 in a drag race. It even has Harry Taylors picture and sgnature on the gas tank! Anyhow thanks for taking a look at her.

I have a very smart air cooled RM500 in my workshop,I have been asked to make it road legal but its far too noisy for road use.Has anyone some ideas for shutting it up.It has a brand new DG full system on it which I have permission to chop up.Money is not an issue, time is so any bits that can be bought would be good, but not too worried if I have to spend a few hours with the Tig set.

It's a sad day for all Bultaco, no, wait, all mx fans. Motocross legend Jim Pomeroy died in an automobile accident on Sunday, Aug. 6, while driving near Tampico, Washington, just west of his home in Yakima, Washington.

Was just wondering if any of you guys had ever thought about doing a bit of Motocross. I joined a PRE65 MOTOCROSS CLUB CLICK HERE. I joined the club a couple of years back and I'm now doing my second season, its fantastic fun. If you have nothing better to do you could even watch me with my helmet cam on CLICK HERE.It's not that expensive to do and the club allows up to pre74 bikes to ride in certain classes. I just ride the Clubman class on a 250cc AJS Stormer.Obviously my club is in the UK and most of the events are held in Essex at Marks Tey,if your local and want to watch to get a taste of it then look at the PRE65 website and there's a events list, its normally free …
