  2. Back in the day, many trials where held on Army Estates in and around both Aldershot and Bordon. These venues and the trials, attracting hundreds of riders, yet finding any information/history on them (Talmag excluded), even in this information age is proving difficult to do. Has anybody got a potted history or can point me to a reference source to any of the trials, clubs, riders or photo’s of that era? Or even better still, post them on this site, with reminisces, photo’s etc.

In my garage today I came across an old trophy, BSAOC Walter Wragg Trophy Trial trophy, with the name R Ackerill and 1963 inscribed. Anybody able to give me any more info', please? I can't remember how long I've had it and know it arrived in a filthy state in a box of bits.

Sadly the enthusiastic Bates family have cancelled the above event that was going to run this Saturday 22nd October due to lack of entries-just 20 entries recieved that would have run on sections used pre 65 for the British Experts Trial.

  8. Hi guys, i'm completely new to trial riding but thought i'd give it a bit of a try after buying a tiger cub in (many) assorted bits. I've no trials experience but would like to build an 'all round bike' that i can ride round the garden, green lanes and very occasionally go to the shops on. My budget is limited. I'm starting with the engine (currently dismantled and i've got two of most things!) and have got a couple of questions that i was hoping i might get advice on: 1) I've got two sets of gears one has got what looks like a standard 17 tooth engine sprocket (rear drive) on it with a very (very) hooked and missing teeth. The other set of gears look much clea…

90 riders were entered in the programme for this years Arbuthnot, a great day out in the sunshine. Considering the rain beforehand it wasn't too slippery in the sections, but the tracks in between were a real challenge at times and would have made great sections in their own right.I did feel for those hardy types riding the Colonial route on road tyres ! It really is a great day out, more an adventure than a trial at times, you see some amazing bikes and ride through some very beautiful countryside. Legs and shoulders were more than stiff this morning, over 80 miles, mostly off road on a rigid take their toll. Anyone got any links to photo's, there were plenty of people tak…

Firstly apologies, i am useless with ignition systems, and this one is so simple !! I have a Honda TL125 hat was running, as i didnt have a stop switch fitted yet, and as i had a connection in th the black lead that comes out of the stator coil (?) (one on left of engine, i pulled it apart and the engine stopped. Then straight away connected it back up and no spark at all. Then after a bit of messing, connected the lead to the white one coming out of the stator coil (?) - it then started - i then put my hand over the carb to stop the bike - it now wont start on either connection and only occassionally has a spark when connected to the white lead.? What have i done…

I want to build a classic trials bike. I am also looking to build it from the frame up. I know this is the expensive option in the long run, but I dont have much time because of my work and I just want to add to it as and when. I have seen two frames with swinging arms on a well know auction site. One a Bantam D14 and the other a Yam TY250. I prefer the larger engine as I am a large framed guy as I am thinking the bantam engine may struggle. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks

Would just like to say thanks to all the organisers and observers at the Nostalgia yesterday , brilliant trial , all sections sensible but some testing to sort the men from the boys . weather was terrible so again thanks to the observers who had to stand out in the rain, top job all round.

... a mate of mine is looking for any information on Ariel Colt trials bikes. I think I recall seeing one many years ago. He's thinking of building one as a project.

Just been reading an excellent article on the Mid Atlantic Vintage Trials club web site concerning an AJS project using one of Sammy's fibreglass fuel tanks. The addition of 10% ethanol into petrol in Maryland USA has caused his tank to dissolve, leak and clog the fuel line and carb. Anyone else had this problem? Apparently some fuels here in the UK (Tesco for one) have had 5% ethanol for some time. Several other projects of interest on the web site too.
