Classic Trials

Has anyone managed to fit a belt drive primary to an AJS M16? I'm looking at trying to fit a Bob Newby product but not sure that the width of the cover is large enough to take the belt. Does anyone know where I might get a slightly wider cover? Are there any other products out there for this conversion to the M16? Thanks

As we've left it a bit late to book the ferry ( For various reasons) - We have only been able to book foot passenger tickets. I am looking to try and see if anyone has space for a couple of Bikes on the Ferry from Heysham to Douglas on Friday 30th August 14-15 sailing. and also on the return on Monday 2nd September Douglas to Heysham 08-45. We will be more than happy to share some of the costs .... Other than that you'll see two Blokes heading to the Bar with a 247 Montesa and a BSA C15 in their Hand Luggage !!! Hi, I would like kindly to ask an advise. I have VM22 round slide carburettor in my garage. It is bolt on type.I wonder if somebody has an experience in using Mikuni VM 22 round slide bolt on carburettor in B40 trial version engine. My engine has compression rate around 6:1 or a little bid less and one inch long inlet spacer. I am trying to find the proper jetting for this Mikuni VM22 carburettor for using that in my Bsa. Hi All I'm looking for some help with a 350 BB32 rigid Goldie that was built in the UK in the 70's by my brother Mike Galpin. After he died in 88 I imported the bike to Australia and after it changed hands a couple of times I finally have it back and intend to restore it to its original build condition with a BB32GS motor. I recently purchased a mostly complete KT250 which I intend to restore to ride vintage events. I am have collected most of the missing bits, along with a donor bike. There are few parts I need to replace with new, sprockets, cables, swing arm bushings and shocks. Anyone have a source for these parts. I plan to run premix and remove the oil pump, where can I obtain a single throttle cable which would work with a Domino slow throttle assembly?

Hi all I have been loaned a pre 65 bike and want to take part in the National Downland Trial,could somebody explain the format to me,as i am new to Pre 65 scene.So i turn up sign on/pay RTA insurance,then i ride with another rider to...............How do i know were to go,how do i find the sections/do i carry a score card,do you do the sections once/is there a finish time.................All/Any advice would be very greatfully recieved. i'm thinking of changeing my handlebars to a hi rise but not shure what size to go for i feel like i am over the front all the time so thaught six inch rise ?? was hopeing to find out what others are useing

Hi, when the Honda Cub was launched in 1958, apparently sometime after Honda entered a team in the Ssdt. I am talking about the C50/70/90 range of Cubs(autos) not the road bikes with manual clutch as was seen at the pre 65 this year. The Honda Cub was probably the most important motorcycle ever launched, look at the production figures. If it is true about the trials debut I as a Cub fan have not seen anything about it. P.S I have seen the U.S variations with knobbly tyres etc and high level exhaust systems. Thanks.

I know this might open up a complete bag of worms but here goes..... The Sprite I am doing at the moment has a Villiers 32a engine with, I understand, a Parkinson Head and was once a 360cc. It has since been re-sleeved and is now back to standard bore as a 250 so other than the oversized cylinder head it appears to be a standard ally barrel. The question is; Which electronic ignition is the right way to go for trials? I have heard that numerous James, Greeves, Sprites, Francis Barnets, Saracens etc etc are running well on either Simon Bateman, Rax Caunt or PVL ignitions - can anyone point me in the right direction and advise the different characteristics that make one…

I want to build a classic trials bike. I am also looking to build it from the frame up. I know this is the expensive option in the long run, but I dont have much time because of my work and I just want to add to it as and when. I have seen two frames with swinging arms on a well know auction site. One a Bantam D14 and the other a Yam TY250. I prefer the larger engine as I am a large framed guy as I am thinking the bantam engine may struggle. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks

Hello, I live in US and have been researching parts for a 1986 TY 250. does anyone know where I can obtain one?? I have been thinking about buying this TY250 but it needs flywheel and I havent been able to locate one. I ride a TL 250 but would like to add the TY250 to the collection. Thanks Larry

I am starting to plan our round of the Sammy Miller Classic Bike Championship and wondered if any riders had a view on how far the trial should ideally travel on the road. We can visit groups of sections used in the National Colmore Cup or even sections used in the 75 mile OK Supreme LDT, or anything in between. What distance is likely to attract the most classic entrants? Pete
