Hi all, I have a 2008 Rev 3 270. Engine is stripped down for a rebuild. I purchased new main genuine Beta main bearings and they come with seals in them (SKF 6206-2RS1TN9/C4GJN). The supplier says that is how they come in the new bikes now? Can anyone please give their advice if I should leave them in or take them out? I noticed the photos in the 09 service manual show metal shields fitted to the main bearings! The seals look a bit special unlike the normal flat seal fitted to normal bearings. Leaving the seals in bearings: - Reduced crank case volume - Potential longer life (if they survive) - Allows leaner oil mix - Potential for either limited side s…

I recently bought a 2008 beta 250 and im concerned about a noise coming from the engine, sounds like a ssshhhh kind of noise that gets louder as I rev the engine. I asked a few people at a trial today and a couple of them said it sounds like the mains are on the way out and others said theres nothing to worry about. I have taken the flywheel cover off and there is no play on the flywheel but when I rock it back and forth there is a slight rattle coming from behind it, is this normal? Can anybody shed any light on this before I have it stripped down.

I'm about to buy bar risers for my 08 Rev 4 as I am six feet 4. Are the standard bars the same diameter as 'fat bars' ? I've tried measuring them and they appear to be 28mm. I definately have the standard bars as they have beta written on them. Don't want to get the wrong diameter as the risers wont fit. Anybody know the diameter ? Gareth

The 08 Rev 4 is a great bike but why doesn't it have a rear disc cover ? It's not like it's a road bike and it's never going to hit a rock. Anybody know anything that would fit. Disc is on the right hand side. Lampkins can't help. Someone suggested a montesa may fit ? Any ideas ? I've ruined one disc allready.

Just bought an 08 Rev 4. Literally just got it back from buying it. It seems to have a bit of a backfire after it has been revved hard. Is this simply an over rich fuel mixture ? I hold my hands up and say I am tottally new to four strokes. It starts fine. A I said, I have literally pulled the bike out of the van and gave it a good wash. Haven't had a chance to check the colour of the plug or see how many turns out the air screw is. Am I barking up the wrong tree with this being an air mixture problem ? Your opinion much appreciated. regards Gareth

keihin carbJust spotted this on ebay and was wondering if its the same carb thats fitted to the new 08 rev3!

  8. I'm changing fork oil and have some confusion. The manual says 370cc in the right leg. However, with fork and cartridge rod compressed 370 will over flow the tube. Is 370 not correct? (I did pump the rod and fork to purge air.) I plan to set the final volume by the 60 mm height but am concerned that the 370 number is not close. The sad thing is that I have done this before and do not remember.

Hi there. Just downloaded the parts diagram from Beta Uk. The page with the carb is so small when i try and enlarge the image it just blurs to the point where it is unreadable. Does anybody have a diagram of the carb and it's various breather / overflow pipes ? Also I saw a thread on this site which showed the direction of all the breather /overflow pipes. Have tried searching for it again and can't find it. Could someone help me find this thread please ? Regards, Gareth

Hi there. Just bought an 08 Rev4. Seen a few threads on this site about gearbox oil. What is the concensus now as to what suits the bike best ? 15/50, 10/40, 10/50 ? Would appreciate your opinion as I like to buy 5 litres worth at a time to save cash and I don't want to buy the wrong one. regards. gareth

Just been sent a set rear pads for my 08 Rev 4 and im sure they won't fit. Shop insist they are the ones. They are goldfren type number 228. This has happened before too with another shop. Basically the pad sent to me has it's calliper pin hole offset to the rear of the pad and not in the middle of the pad like the ones Ive used before. I don't want to open them to see if they will fit. I would be suprised if they do as the callipers piston is in the middle of the calliper like the pads I allready have in there. Anybody used them or are they tottally the wrong pads ?

Looks like Jeroni Fajardo had the new Beta out in the final Spanish championship round. Only 1 pic of him on todotrial and he was 5th place (joing 4th with Freixa but lost out on cleans) but 3rd overall in championship. Pity there were not more pics of it in action Does this mean Doug & Co will have / already have theirs??

As you fellas that have the Evo's know the kick stand doesnt have much of a properly working service life. If your lucky you may get a year out of them before the bracket deforms enough so that the bike will no longer stand without resorting to proping the bike up with a tree or a rock or the pad starts to rub the brake disk because the return spring is pulling it into the rear brake disk. Have you guys found a solution for this poorly designed kickstand. Mine is all but worn out and headed for the metal masher. I guess it may possible to bend the brackets straight but their just going to bend back crooked again. While mine does have a few scrapes i think the brackets are…

That is what the manual says, 1.5% which I think is about 66 to1. That seems awfully thin to me. On my previous 2 strokes (MX race bikes) around 40 to 1 was what I ran. The oil I have left from those days (Silkolene and Putoline) both have mix guides which stop at 50 to 1, so diluting them further seems risky. So, is my old oil (guessing about fifteen years old) better thrown away and replaced with something newer? Does a lower reving trials bike want thinner mixtures than a race engine? Are there special 2t oils designed for trials type riding that would be better than my race oils? Should I uuse my old oil, but at 50 to 1? …

Hey guys, Quick question about the exhaust packing in my 2010 Beta EVO 125 2T. I've noticed that my bike compared to other bikes of similar age is a lot louder. Most other bikes I can not only hear the exhaust but also a bit of engine noise too, there exhaust almost seems to "putt" where mine seems to "pang". Mine is a more of a harsh sound and it sounds like the packing is not absorbing much of the sound at all, I popped the end cap off the bike to discover a bunch of grime and goop inside the lower silence itself and similar but a lot less inside the end cap. The goop in the exhaust is blocking all of the holes in the metal baffle. I've read that if you get the exhaus…
