Mid way through last year, the ACU invited all clubs to send their representatives to a trials forum at Rugby. Sadly the event was cancelled due to lack of interest. I had my name down to go and amongst the items that the Stratford-Upon-Avon club wished to raise was the idea of a common set of colours for all trials. Our proposal was put forward in writing anyway. As we know, most events have two routes, many have three and some have more. Confusing and less than ideal I agree, but this is how it is. Are bluetooth head sets allowed to be used in the adult british championship this year the book says yes

I applied for a competition licence to compete in Baja events in the UAE, as I have an ACU Trials Competition Licence the ATCUAE required a rider release letter from the ACU. I e-mailed the licence department in Rugby and got the necessary letter within hours. People are always quick to have a go at the ACU so its only fair that they deserve credit for giving such a good service to a member. On another note the cost of a ACU trials licence is a great dealer cheaper than a ATCUAE one. So well done the ACU.

Does anybody have any names for anyone i can contact at the ACU. Myself and my father sent our 2009 applications of in the same envelope along time ago. We both got the usual email messages to say they were being done, my father received his but mine never arrived. Nobody is replying to the emails I've sent and I'm not usually free in the day to call so does anyone know whose the best point of contact in the licence department? Cheers

Hi All, I've just returned to trials after 12 years away and brought a couple of shiney newbies with me. I think we need to look at the steps newbies have to go through and ask if there's a better way. The three of us have recently acquired bikes around November time. 2 of us are Cambs area, one is Gosport on the south coast. I had ridden many trials in the early-mid 90s and so had a fair clue as to what to do. My newbies were relying on me. In particular, Nicks_TR34 not only had no real clue what to do, but had no 'feel' for what was going on in his area. What we decided to do is to join Cambridge Matchless for 2009 and also Thames MCC. It been bad enough having to ride the British Champs under these rubbish rules but now all trials are going to sufferer the same fate! I guess we will see a total demise of the number of riders just like in the British Champs which at the moment isn't even worth the organisers running the entrys are that low. Maybe the only hope is if all the clubs go back to the full no stop rules, that's if there allowed?

I have mentioned this in another topic, but felt it may be worth asking the question. Years ago the ACU offered annual motorcycle insurance that covered usage on the road during a trial but was discontinued. Not sure why. With clubs now having to offer additional RTA cover at a fee could it not be worth the ACU starting up the insurance cover again?

On reading the CLASS ENTERED section for the tradional championship ( the regulations say the same) . It states if you enter ,for instance.... class E 'Machines not in class A ( pre 75)...class B (twinshock)or class C ( aircooled) ridden by rider over 50'. Now the classes A,E and F on some rounds get an easier route ( which is a good idea), if you are an over 50 rider riding say, a twinshock, does the wording above mean you cannot enter the twinshock in class E OVER 50. hope it makes sence??

Hello, I'm looking into holding a three round championship which would have enduro bikes and trials riders riding in this competition together. The event will be speed related, with sections (riders will be able to walk the sections) and riders will be timed to see who is quickest to finish. The sections will be marked as per the trials marking system (TSR) with a slight difference. For example if a rider were to put his/her foot down in a trial once then this would normally be a one mark loss, the difference is instead of a one mark loss like in a trial the one foot down in this competition would result a one minute time penalty added to there overall finishing time. Why does the ACU send out the hand book I have requested not to have it in any form (CD or Book) but they keep sending?

Many of us are still blindly, all be it with the very best of intentions, doing our best to complete and sign the RA forms for our events. I was wondering how things are progressing with some kind of formal risk assessment training and/or a generic set of risk assessments for all trials Clerks of the Course to be able to refer to?

Last year I posed a question concerning one of our events which we were planning to make 'No Inspection Allowed.' The idea was to make the single lap road trial, simple and straight forward and suitable for riders to ride without needing to stop and look at the sections. I've ridden trials like this in the past and really enjoy this style of event. However, at the time I did have concerns as to the safety implications of riding into a section blind; if the worst came to the worst and someone was injured. Possibly one for JC? I got Shirty's little Gas Gas report on the 2nd round of the Youth A&B. Okay I've been mega busy work-wise, but I never even realised Round 1 had taken place, let alone Round 2. I've always struggled getting results from Youth rounds and if these lads are the future of Trials in the UK then we need to be doing what we can to promote them in my opinion. Dave W does a great job with the Brit Championship - is there a Youth Championship equivalent I should be speaking to? i.e. someone who collates the results and sends them out?

hi there, i was filling out my registration form and it says youth a,b,c,d at the moment i am classed as a youth a and i would have to ride a 125cc but in a few months time i am 17 so does this mean that i can ride 250 and above? and it also says that for persons that are 16 and above are classed as adults so does this mean i could ride a 250cc now or not?i am only planning on riding clubman trials if this helps. thanks.

I believe the British Trials Championship forum went ahead on 12 Jan. What was said, decided, as there has been no mention of it since then. has anything changed or is it just a case of as you were.?

Not wanting to steal anybodies thunder but this Saturday is the British Championship organisers/riders etc forum in rugby to discuss this years championship and review last years. Having attended last year I found this an informative day with sensible discussion. I guess riders and importers have been contacted and views requested but as C of C for one of the rounds was wondering if anybody had any burning issue that they feel we as organisers should look to address in 2008 (trying to avoid the what rules debate etc).

TSR8 stipulates that prior to the start of each trial all machines will be examined to ensure that they comply with ACU regulations. In NSR appendix B states; 11 Brakes. All motorcycles..... must be equiped with efficient systems. 14 Throttle. ..... must be self closing 15 Clutch and brake levers. must in principle be 'ball ended' 16 Chain Guards. ... must be fitted with a guard I am having difficulty in finding an examiner to check the above points.
