I have a 1981 TL 280. Is the air filter soaked in oil on an these bikes.

Where can I get exploded view for 320 engine? Thanks advance

Hi, following on from my road registrations thread, I was looking at my Gori and it has some signs it was registered at some point: The full format of the frame number is *MT325*1331xx* am going to try the DVLA (as I was born in Yorkshire and am too tight to pay for a HPI) to see if they can find a record for it but does anybody have one that was registered from new as I wondered if the full frame number is given on the log book or just the last 6 digits? hi there folks. first post from myself. I will introduce myself immediately in the usual "presentations" post. I have years of motorbikes experiences mostly thumpers. I would love one of these SWM or a Yama TY or (suggestions) as a registered light trail bike and fun bike for beginners trials. how is parts availability ? reliability ? fun factor ? easyness of living with ? what else should I consider ? thanks

hello someone has used climber engine parts for motor SWM?

Don't have any history for this engine, but it starts and runs well. Really nice for approx the first 1/3, but isn't keen to keep going. I don't think it's carburation as it runs so well at the bottom. I'm going to check the timing first. It's had a new plug with no difference. How about disc valve timing ? The engine originally was from an Aprilia, but is running with a SWM air box and exhaust. Don't thing either are part of the problem ? Also don't think/hope that's it electrical, unless anyone has had similar experiences. Thanks in advance. Ross

I've managed to source a new piston for my 84 jumbo from Italy, however when it's arrived the skirt is 5 mm shorter than the original. As this will affect the inlet port timing will the bike run or do I need another? The pistons are almost impossible to find.

1980 320TL std: Typical having a great trial yesterday dropping but 4 on two rounds and on the 1st section of the last lap, just entering the section bike stops dead, as if I'd pulled the lanyard off....she had lost her spark After the lunchbreak when I started her she was running a bit rough, almost 4 stroking, turned her off, restarted and she was fine. Also the last few times I've jet washed her down she ran a little rough until I WD-40'd the ht lead...hmmm that was going thru my head as I started sweated cobs kicking her over. China money has resurrected the SWM name and the company is in an excellent position to build quality Italian bikes aka Cagiva/Husqvarna. Right now they are in the 4t mode in the enduro range but they are posed to get the rights to bmw/husky 2t motors that GG has the rights to now. Those engines are torque machines. With a bit of gear change SWM would have as good of motor as Beta if not better, because of the husky power valve. The rich history of SWM trials heritage and a bit of product demand should encourage the designers at SWM to fab a trials frame. The company is doing the right thing by using the husky factory in Vareese with the husky workers, frame, marzocci/…

Hello fellow SWM riders, Long story here. In full disclosure this is an account of my distant memory and my fathers account as told to me recently. He has told me this in full frustration pent up for 30+ years. As this goes here is the story: In Western NY USA as a child I found myself excited to follow my father to each and every trials event. Just back from a trial down in deepest France and was really impressed with an Swm out after having a make over. Was interested to learn that the headstock had been moved... swingarm lenthened and exhaust had been breathed over. Was really impressed with the way that it went I was told it was a 1982 280. Are these really an undervalued .., but overllooked alternative in the competative twinshock trials market. Don t know as in many cases, whether the above mods are really worth the hassle and cost and at the end of the day the bike still has to be ridden but I was very impressed with the way it went , I might even be tempted or are they an aquired taste....... I have a Jumbo 350 with silver straight yokes. having seen pictures of Jumbos I see the most have Betor yokes as in the later TL320 from 1982 on. I did find a few pics where the same yoke are fitted as in my bike so should be origional ones. Has any one got any information about changes ? Cheers Ian

Hi all, I would appreciate any ideas as my Jumbo is now generally running fine but when going down a hill or slope with the throttle closed it needs the clutch pulled and a bit of revs to clear it out before going on. You can use the decomp.-valve to clear it but a few revs are better. One thing I must add is that it has a rear silencer from the TL320 which has 2 smaller exit tubes (th Jumbo should have one bigger one). The silencer is not restricted though. The carb was jetted according to the works specs. without reed valves as from the engine number it should be a late bike.

Gaunaco is a peruvian laama type animal, but what does the TL NW mean in the name?

I have been searching for a while for a good quality steel SWM/ Gori tank for a red and white Gunaco. It appears they are almost unobtainable in good condition so... There seems to be a few of the later yellow acerbis plastic tanks around so could someone tell me if its at all possible to repaint these to a good durable standard or am I going to have to keep looking. On this note I have come across a firm that will make new tanks to order if they have enough to make it worthwhile around 8/10 at a price of around 300 stg anybody fancy making up an order. Thanks
