OSET Electric Trials Bikes

Got a oset 20r on standard Battery and charger. It won't charge. Red light on but no other or fan. So I've pulled connection s apart on charger socket and getting 60v dc. Seems a bit high. Presumed it would be around 48v dc. Is this right,

Gavin has a 12.5 OSET. He loves riding it..but sometimes loses intrest in doing circles in the street.. It gets dark before he gets home from daycare, so I can't take him to the park. I have a 1000 watt light that lights up the front so he can ride.. To make it interesting, I have this little peice of wood that let him ride up and down the curb. I have also found that drawing a chalk "racecourse" on the street is fun.. So I was at HomeDepot today and I got this idea... $7.15 worth of lumber.. 2x4 cut in half.. As I mentioned in the presentation, we are new to the world of trials and for Adrian I got him an Oset 20 lite, which runs at 36v, the bike came with lead batteries, which barely lasted at all and even less. I have bought a lithium battery for her of 36-42v and 21aH, with a continuous discharge of 160A (according to the manufacturer). The motorcycle now has a spectacular duration, but the problem comes when on some occasion, perhaps when accelerating very suddenly, the motorcycle stops, with the ignition button on, the accelerator lights disappear and the motorcycle stops. My 7 yr old has just got an Oset 36v, which I can't keep him off, which is great. But the take off from a standstill is really jerky!!! I have researched this, and it appears this is a common issue. I have turned the potentiometer up to max, and it makes no difference other than increase the top speed of the bike, which is great, but we still have the jerky throttle. This makes riding at slow speed, which is the idea of a Trials bike, very difficult. I have been advised to buy a programmable speed controller from Kelly Controllers in the US.. Surely if Oset know of this issue, the programmable speed controller should be supplied with the bike??? Has anybody any f…

Just got my son an Oset 16 racing. He is thrilled to bits. Garden is now chewed up but at least he enjoyed his first few rides. Mrs sensibly won't let me take him practicing till his proper helmet arrives. Was wondering about washing it? I've always jet washed trials bikes and dried them properly afterwards with no issues at all. I understand jet washing these osets is a big no no. Is this actually the case ? What bits should be kept dry ? If they have such an aversion to water should he even avoid streams and puddles? Any help would be appreciated before I ruin it.

The Yeadon Guiseley club will for the first time be setting out a seperate E class route, along side their usual conducted course at Addingham Moorside tomorrow. The route will be suitable for both 12.5" & 16" bikes. More confident E class riders can still follow the normal small wheels course. The conducted trial starts at 2pm.

hello everyone , I just received a 12.5 oset from a freind and it is in poor condition. many of the wires are cut or missing and didnt receive an owners manual. can someone post a schematic and a manual for me ? THANKS

Hi All my lad has a 36v OSET which we have had for 8 months with no problems. We were competing this weekend and the throttle just cut out. Will reset if turned off and on again but cuts out instantly if throttle snatched or at about 1/3 throttle if wound up very slowly. Shows all 3 lights on throttle and had only run for about half hour after an all night charge so dont think it the batteries . Have had all connectors apart and appear to be ok . Could it be throttle itself or motor controller??? . Problem did occur shortly after bike had been dropped in a stream but motor or electrics were not submerged at all and ran for about ten minutes after before problem occured .…

My daughter likes riding her trials bike more than anything else (although rock climbing comes a close second) she is just getting to the stage where she needs good brakes but being a very small five year old, her little hands can't apply much pressure on the brake lever. I've tried various ways to improve the brakes but have now 'bitten the bullet' and fitted a twin piston hydraulic system. Hi All Having recently read in the advert for Oset about 4yr olds being allowed to run on these bikes under new ACU rules, I was wondering if any clubs have taken this up. I am based in Devon and have just bought a 16 36v and a 12.5 for my 4 boys to practice on. My boys are between 6 and 1 (may be a short while before the 1yr old rides one). Also do they need ACU approved helmets or are cycle helmets Ok. Also does anyone know how clubs generally feel about them following you around between sections (once they are competant on the bikes). Now that the ACU are issuing licences to 4 year olds on electric trials bikes, I was wondering what sort of take up I would have if I staged an event aimed at these riders. Would anyone be interested in a trial in the Costwold/Evesham area where the entries were restricted to Conducted riders on Osets, Auto 50's and TY80's? It would probably be on a Saturday, have eight sections each with two routes. Begginer and Experienced. Each section would be ridden three times by each rider before moving on to the next section. At the end of the trial, the first three in each class would be awarded a trophy. I would only charge the bare minimum to cover costs; permit, land hire …

Hi, just tried to connect an oset lanyard to my son 16”. I tried a petrol bike one and that was working backwards, so changed it for a Oset one. now, when I connect it it does not work at all, why is that? What I did was removing the key switch which was not needed and connected the two wires straight into the lanyard wires. shoulnt the oset lanyard close a circuit between the two wires when it’s clipped on? what am I missing? the bike is an older model equipped with Kelly controller and OEM throttle

Hi guys, Instead of mounting Shinko 241 19x3.5 tire, I really would like to convert rear tire to 18", it will allow me to find better options for rear tires. I'm aware of rear wheel conversion kit, but it is 17" and selection of tires is very limited, on top of that OSET doesn't have them in stock. I have used the search facility (but as a techno phone ) without success.. Does anybody use a 24.0 R for adult trials ? Is it compliant with regs (minimum weight , tyre size etc) As a worn out old codger I was considering having a wobble around easy rout adult trials on something really light , and by the looks of them , well capable trailer .. Hi folks, my son was riding is OSET today and it appeared to go into limp mode (no buggy as I thought it had just over heated) but then it started make a funny noise from the motor area...I noticed that the D Link sprocket was slightly loose and wondered if was just that or if it was something more serious. Is there anybody who sells the lithium batteries made up already for the 36v oset or can tell me what I would need to make them and what charger I would need.

I thought I'd share a recent near miss I had with some lipo batteries whilst attempting to convert our little lads 12.5 from lead to lipo....... After running a 36v (pairs of 5s batteries in series) 16" bike on lipo for a while with no problems I decided to get some for the young un's 12.5. Once they arrived I taped them together, wrapped them in some 8mm foam and duct taped them up. Trying them in the bikes battery tray they were a good fit, just dropping in under the…

Hello! I´m about to buy an Oset for myself (and my son off course) and would like someone to measure the motor - diameter and length. The reason is that I want to put in a brushless motor if there is space enough (with some mods). I´m a bit allergic to DC motors... As I have seen there is room for a bit bigger diameter than stock motor but the length is limited between the swingarm.
