Curious if trials bikes use a different handle bar than say an MX bike? Are they taller or the same?

Hi, Has anyone have any experience of the Butaco Sherpa Alloy Fuel Tanks currently for sale on Ebay? These are made in India just wondering what the quality is like. The pictures of them show an unfinished tank without a Fuel Cap. Any comments are welcome. Old Geezer

Hi all I need to replace the rear shocks, I’m staying with Betor for originality but their website lists black springs for the 213, but the originals were chrome. They do list others for earlier Alpinas with chrome springs with the correct length and mounting size, but will they fit? I have tried their customer service but no help. Inmotion list the same shock for all Alpina models soI guess I should be OK…

Moving at a snails pace due to time and parts availability but getting there. Thought rims were shot but they polished out, powder coated everything I could. had a new skid plate built, still learning a lot as not everything was as it should be.

Ordered new crank seals but got 2 narrow ones instead of the fatter factory size, am assuming they could not get the original and expect you to double up? has anyone tried this and does it work? Would show a pix, but 25k is not enough for the file size!

Hi Guys, Having now fully cleaned up my 198B barrel and cylinder head, the top of the barrel and the underside of the head are stamped 137. It has been over-bored to 73.75 giving 256cc. Do the Bultaco Sherpa gurus suggest my head and barrel came off an older 250 Alpina 137 from 1974/1976? The bike was apparently supplied directly by Comerfords in early 1982 as one of about 110 bikes supplied and sold by them, and was allegedly billed as a 'Vesty Replica' Or perhaps just put together by Bultaco factory using what was just lying around? And presumably over-bored to the max early in its life? Ideas appreciated. Thanks

Hi Guys, Can anybody suggest the best high temperature paint for exhausts. I have used rubbish stuff previously (from Halfords) which just dissolves when petrol is spilled on it. I even cured the casings and exhausts in the oven to try and get a good result. Don't want to get lumbered with the rubbish stuff again. Also similar suggestions appreciated for high temperature lacquer that will not dissolve. Thanks

just started to work on my second Bultaco and don't seem to be more lucky than last time (still working on the 125 Lobito, will post updates however). The Bultaco starts by kicking. First time using starter-spray. After some time it will still start using no spray... (5 - 10 min. after the use of spray, so none will be left to keep it starting, I supose) but it won't rev up, idles for some seconds (2-5 seconds) and stops. Action on the gas hand won't change anything, kills the engine even quicker... any ideas? We obviously have spark... could it be to weak? So the first steps could be going through the prozess of cleaning the points, shorten all cables, perfection …

Hello All - Well... the time has finally come for a complete engine overhaul. I've been enjoying faultless performance from my 199a for over ten years, with only some minor top end work when she was first purchased. Following a recent timing check and adjustment though, I noticed some up and down play in my main bearings. Not a problem (motivation-permitting)... but, before I begin tear things down, I thought I'd look for a quality replacement con rod kit to have my crank serviced while I'm at it. Any recommendations for the best quality replacement con rod rebuild kit for a 350 199a currently available? My nearest and most favorite OEM supplier here in the …

Hi all just wondering can the oil in the clutch migrate through the clutch rod tunnel, seem to have a bad leak on the left casing, doesn't seem to be the primary gear oil seal, although it is in that area maybe a seal /o ring missing somewhere along the line. 🤔🇬🇧

Hi I have an otherwise very good M80 slimline but with a mullered crankshaft. Can anyone tell me if the crankshaft from a 175 Sherpa (M221) will be more or less a straight swop. Thanks in anticipation. Sparks2

Hi guys, after five Sherpa and Alpina finally got a 76 Frontera 370 model 181. it runs not very good at low normal revs, a little bit fat, as nd at 3500 or 4000 it starts wheeling, full power...original bing 36mm is fitted. Does it make sense to go with Dellorto to get it more smooth? Any experience? On my Sherpas dellorto 26 and 28 working well...

I aim having difficulty with the wiring of a lanyard kill switch for a 74 Sherpa T 250. The bike has previously had a multipurpose switch but this has disintegrated. I have eliminated the leads to the lights leaving three leads. I still have a spark with any combination of these leads. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Dear All, I am trying to clean/restore the wiring of a recently bought Alpina 213. Need your help to clarify components and correct wiring The stator has 5 coils, and 6 wires: black, yellow, green, green/yellow, red, grey I found the black connected to ignition coil (and the bike runs 🙂 ) and kill switch. The red and the grey are not connected to anything. The green is earthed to the frame. The yellow goes to horn (and it sounds) as well as main light switch. Stop light does not work. Tail light always on... My questions: 1/ is it possible to identify the coils and their functions? how to? 2/ I understand one coil is for igniti…
