Hi all, I'm new to the forum and just starting a ground-up restoration of my Sherpa T 199. I was wondering if someone can help me identify the shocks on the bike as they are rebuildable and I would like to fit a new seal kit to them after painting/chroming. I've attached a photo of one. Regards Dave.

I thought these might be of some interest to some of you. They were on a sight named extreme yz and I came across them when looking for a set of bars for my IT175.They are also available from Dennis Kirk. They are not cheap (85.00 us),but I think I might get a set to try on the Sherpa T.They raise the bars 2" and can be rotated forward.

Old co worker friend from 30 odd years back came up to our workplace today. Good to see him, and although our conversation got cut short by business, he had heard I still messed with the bikes, yes, can you get my old Bultaco trials running again, it has no spark? Probably so! I have a flywheel puller for it, he states! Do you have one them things to set points and stuff? I replied, yes, if I can find it! I have a proper dial indicator if it still works! Can I call you? Yes I said, heres my number! So, as things go, this is the fellow I used to borrow his TL 125 to use as a pit bike back in the 80's when I went to MX! He had a Triumph tracker too! Wonder if he still …

Can anyone suggest a source of some appropriate tubing that will bend from my airbox to my carb? I've had a mikuni on the bike for a while and I'm using a generic small filter but I'd like to fit the airbox, as I have it.

I'm looking help to diagnose a lack of spark from the stator on my 199A. I advanced the ignition, ran it for a few minutes then it wouldn't start again. There's a Red and green coming from the ignition coil with another shielded wire connected the points. From the points one black wire connects with the condenser and one with the HT coil. Previously, I could only get a spark by combining the red and black at the terminal (chocolate) block. That did seem a little odd as I would normally need just one wire from the points? Any pointers as to what to try next?

Can old Sherpas be registered for road use in the UK? I guess with frame and chassis numbers a logbook can be requested, I have a lighting coil so could easily fit on a set of high/low front and rear/stop lights. Cant imagine an old Sherpa 250 would be great on the road except for short runs to get to the trails but it would save having to trailer it about. Any thoughts on if you can get them road legal or if it's just daft?

Is there anyway to save these tanks? Mine is really bad, the brass insert for the petcock spun out of the plastic. New tanks are such crazy money, have any of you figure out a way to fix/repair/restore these tanks?

Hi when I bought my latest Bulto (199) its all in pieces. As ever bought it off a guy who was going to rebuild it to its former glory. It had a noise in the engine so he stripped the whole bike down and put it into boxes. Found out that he could not find out what the problem was and left it! So I end up with Saturday putting it all roughly back together again to find out what

Hi. Brand new member (and brand new to dirt). Just acquired a '73 Pursang with newly painted tank/side panels. I have another set of panels but I'd really like another tank, any tank, to swap on the bike before I destroy the one on there now. Any suggestions (other than finding another, old beaten up Pursang tank - I'm looking now) for a tank that I can adapt to this frame with little modifications? Many thanks. bultaco.pdf
