I entered my 1975 Butlaco Sherpa T Model 151 in a classic Motorcycle Show. To my surprise my bike won overall. There were about 30 to 40 bikes there. I was setting up and working all day on a AHRMA Trials event at Hollister. I wish I would have taken pictures of the show but was too busy all day. The trophy is Best in Show in memory of Jim Pomeroy. An awesome trophy. Good thing my idol Big John was not there he would have kicked my a$$

I am sure it has been mentioned somewhere here but a quick search did not turn up the answer. What NGK plug to I need for my almost complete M159? I have ordered the rings and clutch thrust bearing. I have turned a box of parts into what I hope will be a running engine.

Just wondering what the preferred shock length for a M199 is please? I currently have 340mm and i am looking at new Hagon shocks (1 - cost $150 cheaper than Falcons and 2 - the guy that did my suspension on my EC300 gasser says they are good value) The hagons only come in 340 or 370mm centres. Is 370mm to tall and would it make the front too quick? thanks

Hi all I'm just finishing the restoration of a M91 Bultaco and I've got as far as doing the wiring. The stator plate I have has 2 gold coloured coils, points at the top and a condensor at the bottom. The problem is I have no wires. What should I have and where should they run too?

New Member Group: Members Posts: 4 Joined: 29-July 09 Member No.: 9582 Bike: Bultaco Sherpa Hi All Since my last post I re-assembled the carb after checking all jets and passages were clear. Also float and needle valve looked OK. I managed to fire the bike a couple of times then the engine died on me. Found the HT coil lead to spark plug was broken so bought a full electronic ignition from Bultaco UK rather than mess around changing points and condenser etc. Just fitted that and am getting a good spark but still engine won't fire. I'm getting fuel seeping out around the tickler on the carb but the plug is dry?? Any suggestions? Should I now check cranks…

I just aquired a Bultaco Sherpa T 199B model thats in need of resto. I had to cut the swingarm pivot bolt off to remove the swingarm. Hammering away at the pivot did nothing except leave me with bent frame mouting tabs where the pivot runs through. Heat didn't work in helping the bolt come out. I would like to know how much play is between the swingarm bushing ends (the steel inserts) and the frame? Could anyone tell me the width between the frame from side to side at the swingarm pivot? If that is a problem, how about the width between the frame and the rear engine mount? Thanks

I have a model 92 Sherpa 325 which I have spent a lot of time working on and refurbishing ready for the winter. However the frame is bent under the headstock and also has taken a big hit to the underside at some time. I would like to replace it with a frame the same, I think my serial number is about 900 or 1000. Wil any 91 / 92 mk1/mk2 frame fit okay with all my existing parts / 325 engine? Can anyone point me in the right direction for one (Ideally I'd like to keep it all 92 model) Thanks

3 weeks ago I picked up a 199A (1978 or 9 350) to try my hand at vintage Trials. I got a very well used example but it started right up and seemed to run fine. I rode it almost daily as I replaced various rotting rubber parts, missing fasteners and such (including a new air filter). It always started easily and ran well. Last weekend was our premier at a local vintage Trial. We both were doing well, considering our respective age and condition (me and the bike). After the 19th section as I rode slowly between sections the bike died as if running out of fuel or fowling a plug, not a clean cutoff like hitting the kill switch but a brief on/off, trying to stay running before …

I have a 350 Bultaco from the seventies that is a definite restoration project, but I don't know just what it is. It has twin plugs which I thought would be for a quick change over mid section if the other plug fouled. But now I'm wondering if it is a moto crosser Pursang. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter, cos' I'm going to sell it and have no idea what to ask for it.

Hello again, The only crankshaft I can find so far is out of a mark 9 250 pursang. It is the same. I say that with tongue in cheek. The balancing will not be correct for sure. I have been reading some articles on balancing the crank. But has anyone actually done this sucessfully? If so would you care to let me in on any secrets that might make this task easier. I'll keep reading my articles untill I'm confident to start drilling. Thanks Again

Thanks for all of the suggestions, help and personal messages offering assistance. I have got the cases back together. I heated the right side in the kitchen oven when the wife was out and it slipped right on without even using a rubber hammer. I have now started to assemble the ignition/flywheel, the gearshift etc.... I just need to get a few new things a seal, a lock nut for the kickstart spring holding nut ( is that avaliable?), the four long studs to hold the cylinder and head, a new set of rings (which i have to figure out what size they are), a holding washer for the sprocket, so really not all that bad considering it came to me as a basket of parts that changed …

Can I use these bearings on the crankshaft? They are the same size but does it matter that they are sealed? I have to heat them to fit them back in to the case. I have started to re assembly the engine that came in the basket case of parts. It appears that almost all of the parts are there except for a few. The other question that I have is if the kickstart assembly looks like it is set up properly? I think I have but this if my first time doing a rebuild. Thanks for the help Sunny
