Hi, I've just bought a 2015 4RT and love it! Just getting used to the bike at the moment. The front brake has air in it so I tried to bleed it at the weekend but it seems as you loosen the banjo to bleed through the nipple, fluid seeps out over the caliper - as the same bolt holds the banjo for the brake line. Any tricks or tips for this as it didn't seem an efficient or effective way to do this! Thanks for any help Alan

would a mikuni vm28-49 be a good replacement for an amal and would it be an easy fit thanks in advance,chudder.

With the frame back from the powder coaters I set about assembling the fork yokes, simple job......nope!😳 The problem from day one, was, that ‘someone’ had been at the bike before me, previous owner intended on restoring it (bought most of the bits) but then moved it on to me. Everything is either loose or on the wrong way round. Looking at the front wheel for instance, the brake drum is on the offside, scouring dozens of photos on the ‘net, everyone shows it being on the nearside, no drama, just annoying that everything has been moved. I have seen an S3 electric start modification on the S3 website.for montesa 4Rt any model..also an utube video...I emailed the S3 info...after one month no reply. Does anybody knows who sells such modification Kit ???..I am interested to buy

'81 mk3 White Wonder 349 tank cover just had a coat of gloss white, needs a wet sand to get rid of a few nibs then a good polish. Question is, which decals do I use? InMotion have the 'Montesa & Cota 349' set, Anglia Vinyl Art have the 'Montesa world trials champion & Cota 349' set classed as a ULF Karlsson replica set. Most of the photo's I've seen of the 349 have the 'world trials champion' below 'Montesa'. Is one set special to one particular model? I've got this far, so I would like to have the correct decals on when the tank is ready. As usual, your thoughts are very much appreciated.

Hello I have just bought a 247 C chassis/engine number 21M26447 for restoration. Its a late one I think and has the air forks which I understand were fitted from 21M25137? Any tech specs or literature specific to this model would be great as I want the restoration to be as accurate as possible. Thanks Dave

Morning all I wonder, looking at some 4RT 2015 model era mods the Repsol seems to have some slight changes, carbon bits and the biggest change is the Showa suspension over the non race rep. But when I look at the 2018 Repsol model there seems to be no LTD edition plate on the frame. Did they just stop doing this run and is there any changes that won't be included as a result? Also are there any interweb sources you use for checking spec changes through the model years? Honda seems a bit hit and miss on the interweb Calling all you 4RT fans. But not the burnt out motor ones. LOL. Cheers

In the process of painting my '84 349 tank cover, look carefully at the front where it secures to the frame. On all the photo's I've looked at, the tanks/covers are held in with a bolt that goes through the tank itself, on mine, it looks like the tank simply 'hooks' over mounting lugs. It's a fibreglass tank cover that sits over an alloy tank. I did think has someone broken the front of the tank & merely 'chopped' it about, but the curves on the top right of the photo look standard. Any thoughts much appreciated.

Continuing on the 349 ‘81 thread (white wonder I’ve been advised) here’s one for the aficionado’s out there who know more about these the than I do (which to be honest isn’t difficult😜). the frame is stripped & now at the powdercoaters waiting for a little tlc. Although she’s been clearly neglected the latter part of her life, there seems no lasting damage on the frame nor the swinging arm. I did notice there’s no evidence that she’s ever been painted, the frame & swinging arm are simply pure surface rust.......but.......there’s a hint of either silver paint & definitely a hint of chrome, albeit just a morsel here & there. so, ‘those who know more …

349 ‘81 bought as a heap & someone had already been digging around & started to remove certain pieces into a box, hence I’m unsure of where things go & how! This model has an alloy tank with a fibreglass cover that simply straddles the alloy tank........silly question time, how does the alloy tank remain fixed? The tank straddles the main crossbar of the frame & the tank cover sits on top of the tank......is that enough to secure the tank? There are no fittings on the alloy tank so I guess it just sits there? Obviously the tank will have bits of an old inner tube where it meets the frame [about to be powder coated] rather than scratch the new pai…

Hi all, is there anybody that provides an alloy tank for the Cota 21M that will sit under the original tank / seat unit with the old tank base cut away? Or can anyone suggest a company that might make one.

Newbie to this forum looking for help thinking of buying 4ride for casual green laning. reviews tell of the gear selector being a long way from the footrest but that there is a gear selector you can get to bring it back to the 'normal riding position' is this true and will it be in a position like any other trail bike? and is it expensive thanks in advance

Hi Have just bought a montesa cota 348/349 ?? can anyone out there help identify what ive got before I go looking for parts, chassis and engine numbers match 51M24661, the frame appears to split and has a sump guard at the bottom and has been painted white (badly) should this be black not seen a white one??. I have x2 247 Cotas that I'm restoring. 1 has the original glass fibre inbuilt tanks and the other an aluminium tank that sits on the frame spine with the fibreglass tank internals removed. What is the UK situation with running fibreglass fuel tanks as I believe back in the day they were banned hence why some bikes have ally ones? Thanks Folks

'84 242 with 304 clutch & gearbox, oil looks nice & red but the time will come when I need to change it.....so....what's the consensus of opinion? ATF [Motul ATF V1] ATF in general [any favourites?] 10w30 light gear oil [again, any favourites?] ELF HTX 740 Mineral.......semi-synthetic..........fully synthetic? Hello All, 2011 4RT 4 months into my ownership had burnt out a fan motor (and in the process melting the central boss of the plastic fan itself). I got a new fan motor (and plastic fan blade) fit them both (spinning freely and running as it should seemingly) but after approx 15 hours riding later the new fan motor has... burnt out melting the fan centre again! Surely this cant just be bad luck can it? Why might that happen twice ? Its not catching - so I doubt thats the problem. So far as I could tell the fan would run perhaps 5 mins after a cold start and would run and stop periodically as needed. Might it be a relay or voltage regulator thing. …

Hi there. I'm coming back to trials after a 6 year break. Cannot believe the cost of used bikes now. What happened? I've had four stroke trials bikes before as well as two and am considering a new 2020 Montesa 260rt. Mainly due to the Honda 6.9% interest rate which would suit me. It's £5999. Dealer says he will throw in registration and road tax. Delivery will be £20. Couple of questions. 1. If I wait a few months will Montesa release a 2021 version of this and any left over new 2020 bikes drop in price? I think the Honda 6.9% offer ends in may. 2. Shall I try and strike a better deal?
