Hi All, After getting my last bike nicked I managed to get a very clean 04 315r a few months ago. It's got a keihin PWK fitted as oppose to the standard dellorto. I've not been able to get out on it for one reason or another until this weekend ... Anyhow I was itching to finally go for a blast on it !! It started fine (second kick) and ran fine on the choke but as soon as I knocked that off the bike would run for a few seconds then die. If I ran it on the choke it would run for a bit longer then die. The only way to then start it would be to bump it off down a hill. Today I've drained the petrol off (as the bile has been standing) and put a fresh tank in. It now runs…

hi guys. my mate has an old montesa in his shed. he reckons its a 247 or 248 . its an early model with gear lever on right hand side of bike. has anyone any ideas what it is and exactly how old it is.

Can anyone recommend some wider footrests that will go straight on with minimal modding. Seem to remember something about KDX but may of dreamt that Cheers

Thought l’d up-grade to iridium, but compared it to old one it looks different. Have i got the right one? Is the non-threaded bit part pf the seal?

I know the current wisdom is 250 jug n slug but is anyone doing the original 237cc piston kits yet? Cheers guys

Hi all! Hey I was just looking at my 2004 Montesa and noiticed much to my horror, the @#$% engine is leaking oil! The leak is from the engine sump, which has been damaged by repeated whacks of the skid plate against rocks. I have two large A shaped rocks in my group of practice sections, and apparently there is a large impact to the skidplate involved to make them. Consequently my rubber damper gets squashed badly and then the clutch cover gets distorted and opens up a leak. Is the new mont really supposed to idle at 1800 rpm,the only one I have heard sounds very fast on idle.

Hi Can anybody please tell me what the fork oil capacity for a montesa 2003 is. I seem to think that it is around 350cc but i am not to sure. Thanks in advance. Steve

Hi guys new here but been riding cotas since 1975 i have a cota 247 mk2 1975 and insidw the outer cover on the gear change side is an elliptical adjuster but i dont know how its supposed to be set can anyone help please much appreciated in advance

Having broken the front mudguard on my 4rt, i decided on a replacement. However, on phoning my dealer, was told the price.

All the documents say that honda recommends elf htx 740 for the clutch for the 4rt. If you look on this site it says that the htx 740 oil is for a dry clutch, but the 4rt has a wet clutch. Anyone know why they recommend this oil. elf oil htx 740

Alright guys.... ..well, I picked the bike up today...at last.....seeing as I bought it off ebay it's turned out okay..!! The only thing is that it hasn't come with a manual? What should the standard gearing be on a 2004? Currently - it's on 10:40.... Also - the forks have an obvious rebound adjuster on the top right light......but look like they have some adjustment on the top left and bottom right too.....anyone know what these adjust?...maybe pre-load and compression damping? Finally - it's got a bit of a dent in the header pipe....and some chunks out of the clutch casing.....are these parts going to cost me a fortune if I decided to replace them?...(you know how…

Just picked up an '06 4RT with low hours and just wondered if there are any issues or setup advise anyone would like to offer up? I noticed while tinkering with it that the rebound knob on the top of the right fork leg seems 'stuck', it will not turn. Any ideas on what's going on and more importantly, how to fix the probelem? Hello. This is really leading on from my other post but am hoping some one with experience with this will spot the post and help out. Bike still not sparking consistently on every kick. Have had the multimeter out and tested resistancy of what i can. Results are as follows. Coil 0.80. Should be 0.45- 0.55 Secondary coil with plug cap 14.17. Should be 12.4-16.8 same test without plug cap 9.56. Should be 8.0-10.6 Ignition pulse generator 96.9. Should be 90-110 Charging coil 1.1. Should be 0.64-0.79 Exciter coil 12.2. Hi, have just removed the primary drive gear off a 247cota which was a real struggle, the amount of pressure and heat required was incredible,can anyone tell me if this is normal on these bikes? Thanks.

Evening, Does anyone have the knowledge of stripping the clutch basket off, and the sequence of shims when reasembling? The parts drawing shows 2 washers / shims at the rear of the basket, but I am told there is 4? Any help appreciated Mark

Is there a problem finding parts for a 315 r 1997? Guy
