Hi all, Frustration with my 248. Just rebuilt with new piston, rings and rewound ignition. ran ok at first, but after around 10 mins,it just cut out. Plug saturated. Now, with clean plug, it starts first or second kick, runs for a couple of secs, then stops. Plug saturated with fuel. The carb is an Amal concentric mk.2. The float is good. Float needle fine, and fuel shuts off about 3mm below top of float bowl. Am I missing something? If I put a mikuni on, what size and jetting. Any thoughts welcome.

I'm currently looking at buying a new 4rt, never had a 4 stroke trials bike but had Honda mx bikes and they've always been well engineered! Is the repsol worth the extra money? I've been looking at new 2016 bikes but can get a 2015 repsol new for around £700 less than the 2016 so that's another option. I'm just getting back into riding but used to ride at just expert club and and centre level. Any advice appreciated.

Hey guys, ive just picked up my new Mont, and getting ready for my 1st trial on it tomorrow. Ive gone from a 2008 gas gas 300, Ive been out on it a couple of times and the 1st thing i noticed was how much it pushes on in std gearing in 1st. Ive searched and read as much as i can, and see you guys recommend lowering to a 9 tooth up front, i'll see how i go Sunday with it as std. One thing that has really stood out is how nice the Showa suspension is, going over some concrete blocks that i usually go over with the gasser, i couldn't believe the difference. But hitting these blocks i did notice that my timing was out by a fraction compared to the 2t. Any advi…

I recently bought a Cota 350 from the US, it has some features that I cannot find on any pictures from google or any where else for that matter. Some of these features are plain alloy coloured brake drums whilst the rest of the hub is black, "U" bolt handle bar clamps and front mudguard bracket from what appears to be from the later 330, also triple clamps are different to brochure shots. Frame & engine number are 51M26641, so it's possible it started to share some bits from the upcoming 330, but don't know for sure. I'm just interested in how it should look if I ever do a full resto, at this point I'm simply doing a good tidy up. I'll attach a couple of photos of how…

Does the 4rt still come with a seat, or do they assume you would buy a 4ride if you needed to sit down. The only seats you see for sale are 400 quid from Spain.

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 1973 Montesa Cota 247 to use in vintage trials. I live just outside of Memphis, Tennessee, USA in Germantown. This bike is replacing my TY250. I have ordered a fair amount of parts from InMotion Trials. They are great to work with. I have a few questions regarding the bike. I have an owners manual. The information in it is sparse to say the least. I've read extensively on the forums. If anyone knows the answers to the following questions, I would appreciate your advice. 1. What is the stock chain size? I believe it is a 428. Just not sure. 2. I'm using synthetic premix. I've been running 40:1. It seems to run fine…

I need a clutch basket for a 1985 Montesa cota 330. I've looked just about everywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can the center of said basket be repaired if it's been cracked? Could the center be machined at a reasonable cost?

Someone else advised me of this fact and I have shamelessly nicked it. (Yes I was wrong it was 41 years and not 31. My excuse is I wasn't born when a 4 stroke last won the SSDT before Dib's overwhelming victory). Dibs win on the Future Trials Racing Montesa is the first four stroke to win the SSDT for 41 years. Well done Dibs and well done Montesa.

When clutch is lever is pulled all the way in get a rattle noise from clutch. Otherwise clutch works fine. The clutch does not slip. Was wondering would it do this if plates are wore. The clutch is a mitani. When bike is cold it does not do it,but after it warms up it starts doing it. Any ideas?????

Is this a factory tank or has this been "made up"? I looked around on the net but did not see anything simular. I got it over the weekend in a batch of parts ...it seems to be raining Montesa stuff lately. Some shots of the other bits that I picked up in the lot. Motor has what seems to be the very common broken shaft and missing fly wheel. It has both side cases in good condition. Too bad the light is missing the body. Sunny
