Pleased to hear you have got a bike, the 200 is a good ride have fun.
-
I rate Dougie right up there with John Surtees and Giacomo Agostini, real champions but also nice people.
-
In most cases no concept of a 7/16" or 3/4" spanner or any form of imperial measure.
-
The items Steve produces for the OSSA are top quality, he had a stand at Telford.
-
Steve Sell Marlimar OSSA makes a really strong spindle from stainless steel which will not bend, also a sprocket carrier which uses modern Beta/Gasgas 4 bolt sprockets. Drifting the spindle out wrecks the fit of the hub bearings.
-
Three on 3 marks apiece, was the decision based on furthest clean, most cleans and so on.
-
When first building the forks and wheel I find it better to fit the wheel before the mudguard stay then adjust the fit of that to the mounting holes on the fork legs this way there should be no misalignment which could restrict the smooth operation of the forks.

I too think the publicity that Guy will bring will be positive for both the Pre 65 and SSDT.
The distraction Guy will have from several thousand people some expecting him to blast up sections at a great speed must be bring its own pressures, personally I hope he enjoys the trial, finishes both days and returns to ride again.

Good pic of smelling on the BSA/Triumph scooter engine twin, go for it Stu
-
Could not make it to the event but need to know what is happening, any one any info or pics please...

The OZO brand are made by Betor, sold by inmotion Dave Renham.

Hi Spen,
Thank you for posting this. I have a 1961 Greeves 24TDS which was my first classic bike, I have ridden it in many trials always an enjoyable ride.
-
What a great read. Thank you Yrjo for being so open and James for another great feature.
Looked again at the part where the bikes are displayed and spotted a Sony C7 video.
We had one of those it weighed a ton they were built like a piece of military equipment, absolutely unlike anything you buy today.
-
Pick up a trial programme from the paddock area usually right by the gates where you enter, possibly pipeline or the roadside above the loch might be best.
-
Good point aawil, another reason for a smaller sprocket.
-
Some interesting observations here, many small capacity modern trials bikes (those ridden by youngsters) have sprockets the size of a frying pan but the 199a and 199b Bultaco bikes had smaller rear sprockets than previous models.
The post was started because I think I may have my bike a little overgeared and wondered what ratios others were using but it has become very thought provoking which is positive, it just goes to show that motorcycle trials is actually a branch of physic's.
-
Hi Deryk an interesting comparison, do you recall the sprockt sizes please.
Are we talking sizes that are used for trials with maybe a six or eight tooth size difference which would be simiar to possibly two at the gearbox or a much greater difference.
-
All the main parts appear to be in good condition + the original toolbox, all thats needed for restoration.
-
Just found an American Triumph Cub website which says the 16t engine sprocket is to enable a 14t gearbox sprocket to be fitted for greater swing arm clerance, with this info the options/confusion list just gets longer, what do you use on your Cub.
-
Does anyone know if the smaller crank sprocket is essential to obtain trials gearing or just a way of reducing the diameter of the one fitted to the rear wheel?
I think the standard crank sprocket is 19t but I have seen both 16t and 17t crank sprockets, would these require a half link or cause clutch slip problems.
-
What size of sprockets are you fellow Triumph Tiger Cub riders running on the crank, gearbox and rear wheel also rear chain size.
My bike is 199cc currently fitted with a 420 chain.
-
When I looked at the picture of the Tandon Kangaroo I thought it to be a rigid framed machine with a slightly different frame layout than the more usual rear triangle and certainly not a springer.
Is the suspension pivot rubber in torsion as on Greeves forks or maybe a rubber loop which stretches?
-
Proudly displaying a fresh coat of mud a proper trials bike.
-
Is the bike the original one or a replice/reproduction?
-
Which rear hub is fitted Deryk it does not appear to be BH, could it be Bantam or possibly AMC.
