  1. Charlie are you referring to the mk1 rebuild page on bsaotter or is there another article that I have not found, thank you.
  2. Any one have any information on the above event?
  3. Does anyone here on TC know anything of the Moon Trophy Trial which I believe was held in the Staffordshire/Derbyshire area in the 1960s. Which club ran this event in what years and who rode in it?
  4. Also consider a Villiers powered two stroke, you really ought to go to a few trials maybe as an observer, talk to riders and if possible get a ride on a few bikes but please remember a bike can feel very different to ride if set up better/worse if you see what I mean.
  5. Thank you for your replies, do most or all of the winning bikes have this spec then?

    Test Rides

Does the Vertigo have a battery, if so does it have to be charged or does it charge when ridden?
  7. I know little of the Ariel engine modifications mentioned, please explain which is the preffered mix of parts and what are the benefits gained.
  8. A good choice of bike in my opinion enjoy your riding.
  9. A Beta 200 is a great all round bike.
  10. The posts are replies to the carb question asked by duckwizard, forks and ignition systems were not mentioned, Now that a British made carb is available which should hopefully meet the needs of Triumph Cub riders there is no point in buying a DelOrto or Mikuni but those people who have one of those carbs already now face the prospect of buying a different one and having to repeat the set up procedure, if the old model had been good on a Cub then why would some riders have a second carb as well?
  11. Well at least that clarifies the current situation, a Cub can have a 2015 and onwards made carb which is a better quality improved design in a choke size previously not manufactured when the range was launched in 1967 for use on bikes made prior to the end of 1964. Somebody must know a Doc Brown who drives a DeLorean, with licence plate OUTATIME.
  12. No you are missing the whole point here, there has always been some riders on Triumph Cubs that ran very well (usually ridden by the better riders) many Cubs ran with symptoms of cat flu until more recent times when fitted with PVL, Electrex or similar ignitions so anything that helped improve things was readily taken up. The Amal Concentric carb was launched in 1967 so NO Pre 65 bike ever had one fitted as standard anyway. To make a Cub run well on a concentric engineering types have reduced the choke diameter by placing a sleeve through the carb choke, a costly job. At the recent Stafford Show Burlen had the Concentric Premier carb in 20mm so maybe now they can supply a suitably sized model for the 199cc cub? Where does this leave Duckwizard probably confused like most of the rest of us?
  13. My understanding of the Cub carb issue is that the overbored motors 230, 250 and the like run well on the Amal concentric but due to the choke sizes available the 199 which is what aTriumph Cub is did not. Burlen I believe have now introduced a 20mm choke concentric so maybe that will be ok, problem is though those who ride a 199cc Cub which is what was available back in the day are the very people affected by a costly enforced change that will add nothing to the sport.
  14. Is eu or local government money involved, start up, regeneration that sort of thing?
  15. I read somewhere that GOV 132 was fitted with Girling gas shocks which at the time were unavailable to the general public. Not all bikes being ridden today are built from special or modified parts, Robert Bowyer won the Scottish Pre 65 on a Triumph twin built from Triumph parts by dad Roger.
  16. Just a good service really so that you know everything is in working order.
  17. Also remove the wheels to check that the brake linings are secure.
  18. Thank you Deryk, was Model 4 or 10 then the first Sherpa trials bike sold?
  19. Is registration 669 NHO 1962 or earlier because I believe 1963 was the first year of numbers issued with a year letter so A = 1963 and so on. If 669 NHO is a Model 4 Bultaco were they the first trials bike Bultaco produced or was the Model 10 the first, also the round shaped fuel tank was that fitted to the early models then changed to the squarer design?
  20. Hi Christian, Thank you for posting details of the Mons Trial. I am interested in riding this event would you please forward to me the necessary information regarding next years trial.
  21. A nice classic bike can be used while maintaining a value, how many 2015/2016 bikes will acheive that?
  22. Like any trials bike it does need to run right otherwise you will not enjoy the trial, have someone who rides to check it out for you before you enter.
  23. Does anyone have contact details for Roger Heap who lives around the Preston or Lancaster areas please ?
