  1. so you can get the right size piston for you bore if your not re-plating.
  2. I seem to remember a story about a diesel army bike, will have to ask about.
  3. not many replies here are there? Gearbox = Castrol ATF Dex3 (i get mine from from Halfords.) Pre-mix = PJ1 silverline mixed at 2% (local trials dealer) I know that the oil mix is a bit rich, but, i run a 5 grade plug, dont suffer oiling, and in the last 5 bikes have not had any issues like mains failing, or bore wear. This is however quite an emotive subject and i full expect other people to suggest other oils. Quite honestly if you use a good quality branded oil you wont go far wrong.
  4. now that could start quite a debate. for a start you wouldnt need to have the time penalty.
  5. What!?!.....back to the 1970's.......Sid James and Hattie Jaques in "carry on Dabbing".....a tittilating look at the world of trials......"ooo err Missis"..... (I am Aware that this will be completly lost on our American cousins)
  6. absolutly right, it should be the last part of the section that takes the 5. that being said, the trials do vary from country to country, I think it depends on who sets them up. I suppose the section setters are trying to take marks off Bou.
  7. just watched tonights trial on Motors TV, Bou in the last section had me grinning from ear to ear. what a superstar.

    Beta evo exhaust

it should have 2 o rings, its probably a good idea to replace these now. i also use a smear of silicon sealer between the surfaces, just stops a bit of "chatter" which can wear the aluminum.

    Beta Evo 4T

change oil brand, to one for 4t mx engines. before re filling with new oil remove the clutch plates and clean all the old oil off. lastly when you finish riding pull the clutch lever in and hold it back with an elastic band, do this while the engine is hot. following week no sticking problems.
  10. yeah, swing arms are vunerable on these, look underneath near the pivot bolt for signs of cracking.
  11. ignore the nasty people in the above posts, i can see you have some balance. its a start but there aint much to be learnt with the engine off. find some obstacles, ride over them, enter a trial, see what you need to practice when the results come out, any section with a lot of 5's next to it needs practice.
  12. thats the reason, plus there may be a very, very slight spark risk.
  13. is this the one? on BVM website. http://bvm-parts.co.uk/trials/popup_image.php?pID=138&osCsid=6ade2e2bd7b5c8a37241239a5e9a9ccc
  14. Crikey Chewy, you been reading the Daily Mail this week? Full of angst, and Built up frustrations. and BREATH.......now RELAX......its funny, as soon as i sling a leg over the bike all this disapears for a couple of hours, roll on sunday. cheers Paul
  15. its a simple thing but make sure there is freeplay on the lever, adjust it with a 10mm spanner and small allen key at the back of the lever. Failing that take it over to Nige at Trials UK in horsforth, he will have a quick look and let you know whats needed and how much.

    Sorry, but...

    alright, keep your hair on........
  17. so lets see, middle of the night, loud bang from garage, you get up, nobody about, bike still there but garage door broken, oh well it can be fixed. (on house insurance). next morning plod turns up and wants to know why scumbag was found wandering streets in middle of the night with bleeding eardrums. now lets play, "who's going to get prosocuted", trust me, it isnt going to be the little **** with with an ASBO is it? oh no, its going to be you. and it'll get in the papers (what will the neigbours say). secondary lock and an alarm is the way to go. 1st lock shuts the door tight, prise that open and alarm triggered, secondary lock can be anything but a good one is a chain that will only let the door open enough to get your arm in to unlock it from the door. once alarm triggered its got to be a determined scumbag that stays to work out why door wont open and deal with the lock while alarm blaring away. failing that put proper 12 bore cartridges in the alarm mine, blow scumbags head off and bury him at your next trial.

    Sorry, but...

err....you last post told a bloke you had just bought a Sherco? was it a quick change?
  20. or any sherco thats dropped to bits
  21. its on the motor database, i have discussed with some brokers, its just they wont quote as the risk is too high. only options are MSM or theft only, Doodsons. its not cheap, but its peace of mind. p.s. i have now spent over
  22. if its presurising the gearbox to blow oil out it could be a crankseal, or as you say, the waterpump is filling the gearbox (likley)
  23. if you doing half the job anyway why not do it all? pre-detonation can be caused by several combinations of issues, one being small particals of carbon on the piston igniting the mixture before the spark. When you switched to a higher octane fuel the engine ran cooler, but the carbon still built up, hence the problem has returned.
