it needs a right good de-coke. barrel off, head off, piston off , rings off, the lot. once done, no detonation.

203 290. was that the year it was made AD203, or what its worth now £203
  3. Hi and welcome back to the forum, i do remember you from before. oh.........and welcome to the wonderful world of mortgages.......there a right bundle of fun. Just wait till the interest rates go up again....woopee.
  4. Transit, please would you list 3 things that you dont like about the trials you ride at the moment, i would be interested to see specifically your disatisfaction with the current organisation.

Castrol ATF from halfords, instand difference in most gearboxes.
  6. yer in Horsforth club, you should know about this weekend!
  7. probably not. find someone with the same bike and swap all the cheap bits first.
  8. your not Noel Edmonds and this isnt Swapshop

    Really? lets say they are
  10. its the lost power and cut out bit you need to worry about. is sounds like it may have siezed the piston in the barrel. i would strip it down for inspection.
  11. Just seen the cancelled notice. Oh dear, and i was so looking forward to a wallow around in the mud. Greg, how's the deliberating going or have you got a bike yet?
  12. its at Bayliss Gap, good venue, bit slippy in places and parking can be an issue. Some good photos of the club trial there on the Wetherby website.
  13. replace needle valve and seat, sounds like the fuels draining in whilst stood. Try Splatshop. http://www.splatshop.co.uk/dellorto-float-needle-valves.html

08 better carb. rubber flaps last 3 trials at best. i did buy some rubber that was thicker and cut my own. a piston and rings might be worth the investment if your bikes done a fair bit of work.

i would have thought yes, a whole "wold" apart. are CRF's not a 4 stroke? what are you trying to do?
  16. You must be mistaken, thats not the REAL Santa, thats a scrap man in disguise.
  17. Grown men writing to Santa for a sherco.........by your age you should know better.........Santa only likes Beta's.
  18. use whats needed to slow you down to the pace that you can control the bike at. having ridden for may years i rely on the back brake as years ago trials bikes didnt have great front brakes, in fact they were more hub warmers than brakes!
  19. it may alter the back pressure slightly which would have an effect on performance, but only slightly. main saving is in weight, both on the bike and the wallet.
  20. what about a divers mask? if they can keep water out they must be alright. Mind you, if you sweat through you eyes you may have to stop to empty them out every hour. hope this helps.
  21. you know what, this is just why trials will keep on going. it doesnt matter why you ride, or to what rules, but to hear so many passionate people talking about the sport they love is great. Yes, i prefer one set of rules to another, those that know me will know which!! but it doesnt stop me riding the other set. Which is best? Look at the enteries this year for your local clubs and see what was more popular. I know that some of our local clubs are changing this year, time will tell on that score. Remember, in ANY trial, YOU all ride the SAME rules, whatever they are. Dont blame your result on them!!
  22. what do i want out of trials? friendly banter before ,during, and after the ride. nobody clean, nobody over 100, nobody hurt. no rain. no bloody ramblers. but the best thing after a trial is happy observers!

My 08 rev 3 did this, nothing i did would stop the leak. in the end i just bought a new one. I cant remember how much it was, but it wasnt too bad.
  24. thats like putting a heads up display to shoot heat seeking missiles on a bi-plane!
  25. check by putting the bike on a stand, get someone to spin the back wheel while you go through the gears using your hand on the lever (without the clutch). If still impossible like this, its a mechanical fault with the shifting. If the gears go in ok like this, it is more likley to be the clutch draging (only slightly). remove and wash all the plates in very hot very soapy water. replace but try using Castrol ATF (halfords) Done this with my EVO including lightly filing all the tangs on the fiber plates 100% better.
