  1. its funny , 15 years in the trade and then i'm suddenly wrong.
  2. i have seen this before when someone has but the wrong oil it the gearbox. solution is this, drain the oil, refill with petrol plus about 100ml. start the bike on a stand with the rear wheel supported. run through the gears twice up and down the box using the clutch to change gear. imediatley drain the petrol and fill with oil. re-start the bike and do the same up and down the gearbox (riding) until the engine is hot, drain straight away and refill with a quality gearbox oil, all should be ok. hope this helps. Paul.
  3. I use Turtlewax traffic film remover (TFR) , its a motor industry product that they use through a jetwash. I buy it in 25lt containers and it works out at 80p per litre. i wash the bike off with a hose to remove the worst bits, then spray the TFR on the bike neat with a hand held plant sprayer. i then wash the plastics with soap and water, then rinse. I can honestly say that my bike is as clean as it was when new using this stuff.

    Rubber

memorys of tyres gone by, mainly i remember the front end chatter!
  5. thats funny cos i think i got them on sunday! your right about the quality, but its hard to criticise anyone for doing the job. I do however think its only right and fair to put something back, last year i observed at a handfull of trials , lots of banter, ok i lost a ride, but it meant that everone else got one. I suppose it depends on what you want for motivation, perhaps a tenner, or what about if its club champs some sort of points advantage? just a thought.
  6. on the older rev 3 the BP5ES plug is the right one to use, the others dont run hot enough. i hade the same problem and swaped to a BP5ES and had no bother at all after that. use the highest qualty two stroke oil mixed at 1.5% 75cc to 5lt of fuel.
  7. could anyone give me directions to the venue please or a link to it on google maps? cheers Paul
  8. it seem to me you have a nice problem, too much choice? i bet the guys in the states cant belive this thread! the point i am struggling with is this, why not have some on a saturday afternoon? or saturday evening trials? The best series i ride is a saturday night event, one of the best attended too. some weekends we could (if i fancied a divorce) ride 3 trials. instead of all starting at 11am on a sunday couldnt you vary the start times/days?

    Rev 3 2004 Stator

Hi All, I know its been done to death before, and i have tried a search for the info, honest, but................. a friend of mine has just started trialing and got himself a clean 2004 rev3 250 . second go out its stopped. no spark. i have swaped all the other components, still no joy. could anyone give me the values for the stator so i can check it. is the best place to repair still west country windings? any idea how much? anyone know how much a new ons is? thanks in advance Paul.
  10. on my old 04 beta i used to pull the cluth lever in and tie it back with an elastic band, just after a ride. next time i came to use it it was fine from cold.

not sure, but i had heard this weekend that they had shut completly?
  12. what a fantastic result, lets hope we can catch some more. well done to all concerned.
  13. I was looking at these in the shop last saturday, they look really quite good. still think i would put the extra sixty or so quid towards gearne though. it probably works out cheaper in the long run.
  14. two of our local clubs run a summer series starting at 5:00pm or 5:30pm on a saturday night, (14 trials in the year) for me these are the best events. I dont have to set off from home until after 4:00pm so i spend most of the day with the kids and i can still be back home to take the wife out (blue moon) if she wants.

    Oil Tank Drain

I presume you still have the oil pump fitted? if so there is a bleed screw on the side of the pump (i think they were a philips screw with a fibre washer). undo this and let the old oil drain out. (you can flush the system with petrol as well if you want) then simply put fresh oil in the tank and wait for it to drain through with no air bubbles and replace the bleed screw.
  16. I tried that..........one of the Ramblers hit me with a ski pole.......it wasnt snowing......it was August........carrying an offensive weapon? goodness, I was cross.
  17. I packed trail riding in a few years ago, from all accounts the police are handing out ASBO's round this area like their going out of fashion. The "where to legally ride" question is still so grey at the moment i wont be bothering either.
  18. quite a harsh punishment, for such a trivial misdemeanour.

    Climber 240

Hi All, does anyone have any idea what these are worth? are there any big issues with them? its a 92 , all there , all works as is should, needs a rear tyre (dont they all!) looks in better nick than a lot of 2002 bikes i have seen. any info at all cheers paul
  20. does anyone know if the indoor series will be on eurosport again this year?

    New Ossa

now i know how that feels, utter tedium, phone not ringing, no customers.............but...........a little more imagination required. instead of worrying about the cost of a bike that you wont ever buy, consider time travel, or the speed of light, or both. you could try taking you shoes and socks off under the desk using only you feet , without looking, and then putting them back on again. (trust me THAT takes practice!) try constructing a working model of a steam engine with all thats in you office draw, (those stainless steel flasks would make an ideal boiler). There must be other distractions, so lets hear them, what do you do when its a slow office day!
  22. i know a racks not perfect but nowhere to keep a trailer now. thanks for the replys. dave cooper it is.
  23. Hi All, i am looking to get a rack to bolt onto the back of the car (Golf). can anyone recommend, by experience a good make/model, and dealer. cheers paul

    Flywheel Removal

i have just watched your video on youtube, not sure what the problem is but for peace of mind and for no cost take the carb off, remove all the jets and give it a good blow out with a high pressure airline. before putting the jets back in blow them all through and comfirm that they are clear visually (hold up to a bright light). check the float heights (see topic on here, well covered). also check the needle, is it seated correctly? is the clip there? then before replacing the carb remove the reed block and make sure they are intact and seated correctly. once you are 100% happy that all this is done refit and try again with a new spark plug, making sure that the plug cap is screwed right onto the HT lead. if this doesnt cure the problem then you will have to look at an electrical component and seeing as you have already tried the winding and trigger it narrows it down a bit. if you lived nearer i would suggest swapping compenents from my bike to see what happened, perhaps someone local may offer to help with this. let me know how you get on Paul
