  1. Gaernes every time, a couple of years riding every other weekend see's mine just about finished. white Alpinestar's look like something out of Battlestar Galactica!
  2. I have just got one of these, http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/...r-compressors-2 its really good, big tank is what you need for that hit of high pressure air to get the tyre seated. 2.5hp motor is i think the biggest you can use from a 13amp plug? would recomend this everday.
  3. it's grim up north...............what did he do ? wait until the 'E' kicked in before posting the advert?
  4. as both of these are brokers, you may actually end up being insured by the same company, but with a lower/higher level of service. check for things like excess, this is a favorite of online quotes, it appears to be a cheaper policy, but the excess maybe several hundred pounds more (even into thousands!) check legal protection, do you need it? have you got it on another policy? is there bike hire included? great for road bikes but who wants to do a trial on a chinese 125 'ditch master'. in short, ask what your getting for the money, not many people do, just presuming that all insurance is the same. trust me its not!
  5. Check the spring length on the rear shock, increasing the preload will help with front end feel due to the weight transfer to the front.

    'Give Away'

That sounds like a good deal.....................now i wonder if he could help me. I am Nigerian prince who just needs to deposit $100,000,000 in your bank account etc.
  7. the bike looks great, my only concern is with the filler neck, if (and when) you drop the bike on rocks it may distort the threads on the neck? it may the be difficult to unscrew?
  8. Hi all, i am considering swaping from a 2008 beta rev 3 to a 290 sherco 2009 model (new). the last 290 i rode was a 2003 model that to be fair was in pretty poor condition. at the time i didnt think it was comparable. has anyone else made this switch? any know problems with this model? am i better off with a 250 or 290 sherco? thanks in advance , Paul.

    Funny Noise

new spark plug and a thorough de-coke of the top end. that usually cures the problem.
  12. i guess the diference is that if the plug on your trials bike fails, you stop in the section and take a '5'. if the plugs in the cessna fail, you end up with one very large dab and a memorial service !!

  14. dont go after pandas, the world wildlife people will get in a right state.
  15. preperation is everything when painting, the motor must be cleaned to start with, no dirt residue anywhere. next, sand any area that has flaking paint/finish to make sure there are no edges. (any new paint will creep under this edge and the solvent will lift the old finish). the rest of the motor should be prepared with a scotchbrite. (ask a local body repair garage to sell you a couple or you will have to by a big pack) this is not unlike a scouring pad, but is much sharper. remove all the dust from preperation, the motor should then be de-greased again using panel wipes or spirit wipe. (again from a garage). the motor must be painted in resonable temperatures, not cold and the paint applied in several thin coats. using this method i have achieved some really good results painting engines. the best paint i have found is the PJ1 high temp stuff. this is gloss black but i think they do other colours as well. as i said at the start, dont try and shortcut the preperation, it always ends in disapointmet if you do. let us know how you get on, post some picks? cheers paul.

    Boyson Reeds

i didnt feel an increase in power as such, they just sharpened up the trottle response. made my 250 beta much smoother off the bottom.
  17. when you changed the clutch did you change the steel plates as well?

    Rev3 Fuel Tap

i have just noticed that the fuel tap on my 08 250 rev3 is leaking. its not just a drip either, when setting off into a section after having been in a short queue there is a noticable amount of fuel comes off the bash plate. now its clean i can see its a steady drip. i have never taken it off the bike, which i have had from new, and it is still tight. anyone had similar problems and what did you do to rectify? cheers paul.
  19. the engine number should be the same as the frame number.
  20. having had another 'moment' this weekend, i have suffered further damage to my already knackered ankle, which now has the strength of a curly wurly thats been left out in the sun. my question is, which boots provided the best ankle support? i currently use gaerne oileds, which are great but dont provide that much support. i dont really want to go to MX boots as these are too restrictive. so what do you think?
  21. why dont you go along to a trial this weekend, chat to some owners of bike that you like the look of and ask for a quick spin, you will be surprised at what you find. the ones you like the look of might not ride 'nice' and some of the others are really easy to get on with. i made a mistake with my first bike, struggled for a few months, sold it boughts a 200 sherco and went forward in leaps and bounds.
  22. i did a search for a dog turd tool and found this, http://www.poopascoopa.net/ is this the sort of thing you mean?
  23. my 08 does that as well, the carb is spot on, been checked a few times by myself and others. it didnt do it from new but started after a couple of months. my 05 250 and 04 270 did the same as well. its very frustrating when it happens in a section. i am so fed up with carb problems i will be switching to another brand for next year.
  24. get a couple of rides done on the bike and enter a trial. find a novice and beginners near you go along and chat to some fellow competitors, its the best way of bringing yourself along. where abouts in the country are you?
