nnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeppppppppppp.............................various scraping noises
-
all this bumph pails into insignificance when compared to running a 3 year old tz250................
oh........the heady aroma of 747 and freshly crashed leathers
-
not normal at all, Beta's are usually well built.
that said, a few bolts do come loose and a certain amount of "fetteling" is required from time to time, but nothing huge.
whats come loose on yours?

i ended up looking like steve McQueen at the end of the great escape, all hooked up in the prickly stuff ! much to the amusement of the lads i was with.

valentino lampkin?
flat out on a trials bike is interesting, braking from 60mph on 6psi in the front is quite an experience the first time you try !!
(i took to the shrubbery the first time i tried it!)
-
what would have been better, was if you had made several "hot babes". the marketing possibilitys are endless. i have seen the whole pyramid thing before, cost me a fortune. be sure to show the photos to the ambulance driver, it will cheer him up on the drive to hospital!
post some action shots, should be interesting.

i use the proper gaerne waterproofing stuff, works really well ,you can get it from the sherco importer MRS.

hi barns, i am not sure whereabouts you are but a great club for the youths is ripon, they run a very popular saturday night series with a conducted course for the smaller classes. check the website.

oh dear, surely not.
there nothing like your "bird" stood watching at the bottom of a section, to envoke the highest levels of bravery/showmanship/bravado.
add beer and it becomes funny as well !

sounds lke your having fun ! i would try remove , clean and refit the master cylinder rod (just in case). remove the calper so the brake hose is in a staight line vertically up from the mastercylinder and try again.
make sure the pistons are at there fully out position.
when you are happy there is no more air coming out when your bleeding it, carefully push the pistons fully in, watch the resovoir as your doing this, if air comes out repeat the process, not forgetting to pump the pistons out again.
hope this helps
paul
p.s. undo the adjuster on the brake rod just to make sure its getting its full extension.

i remember taking my bike test like this! what a laugh! the examiner set you off from a pub car park on a left hand circuit, watched you out of the car park and up the road to the first left, then ran down the car park and through a passage way just in time to see you disappear around the last left, the ran all the back to the top of the carpark! then did the same thing on the right hand circuit! by the end of the test he was knackered !
glad i passed my test then, not sure if i could pass now.

as above, but the trick is to have new pads, dont know why but every beta i have owned is like this, once the pads get low the feel at the lever goes. one trick with brake bleeding is to have the pistons out as far as you can, bleed the brake until no air is seen coming down the outlet tube, nip up the bleed nipple and push the pistons right in, this will usually expell any air that is trapped at the lever end.
good luck, i know from bitter experience how frustrating this can be.

having tried a few different boots in the last few years ,i ended up using Gaerne oiled's. as long as you look after them they are completley waterproof and very comfy. i use the correct Gaerne waterproofing supplied by MRS.
but....its all down to budget and more importantly, do they fit, and feel comfortable. a good few years ago i bought a pair of alpinestars to do enduros in, they were the latest "must have"........awful.......i couldnt finish an event before my feet hurt so bad i couldnt concentrate. dont buy of the internet unless you've tried some on first.

the coating on the outside of the forks is an 'anti friction coating'? i dont think it will be very thick, and all forks wear anyway. the only reason you have seen it is because its worn through. if you contact KAIS in the back of TMX i think they will be able to reinstate the finish. if you go to the trouble of doing that you may as well replace the seals and the friction bushes as well.
as long as the fork action is still good, and the oil is changed frequently, and not leaking ,i wouldnt bother.

smaller main jet and boysen reeds, i did try the smaller pilot , but used in conjunction with the reeds it was too weak off the bottom.
the only other thing is, have you checked the ignition timing?
-
i rode the solo route on this years mel harrison sidecar national. it was my first road trial and an absolututly brilliant event.
one lap, four groups of sections.
if i only enter one event next year it will be this one.
-
like the previous replys , you cant beat doing the job properly. i have however been known to put other parts in the dish washer! (dont tell the wife) airboxes come up really well, but crank cases, barrells ect. also turn out well.
-
hi tikka65, i did nearly the same as you! but no where near the level of injury! i took to trials and havent gone back, its that much better.
where abouts did you crash? i know the area very well and would be interested to know. once you get the mont up and running do a couple of events, you'll be hooked.
hope the injury's clear up ok.
regards

when i clean the bike, i give the chain a pressure wash using traffic film remover. i let the bike "drip dry" for a couple of hours then blast the chain with a cheap wd40 substitue. this forces out the moisture and leaves a film on the chain to prevent it going rusty. aerosol white grease is applied the day before an event.
