Whats stopping me from making my own rules for a club trial?
-
You make a good point. The difference in a hard fought 2 and a 30 dab 3 is too small. Anyone else want to comment?
-
With my experience with the 4T, I have to agree with you on this one for now anyway.
-
I loved the bike but if only it would consistently start I had it quite good at the end after a carb change etc but sometimes it would still be a bitch so enough is enough. The 2t starts first time every kick .. Blissss
-
Woohooo. Got the results of the trial I rode last week and on my first time out on the 06, 290, I got my first win this season!! Beating Desperado on the way!! I only got it the day before the trial as well
It is sooooo much better than my old 290 I had before the 4T. Very smooth power delivery and the suspension feels like it will absorb any shock you throw at it. Very happy with it I highly recommend you 03,04 & 05 riders to get yourself a go on one. I don

I'm just gonna take a stab in the dark but I would say one thing and thats Cost!
The US & Japan rounds are hard to get to already from Europe so what the hell would it cost to get to Australia
-
I think so Boss If thats alright with you
-
Trials Central 2006 will have this feature. Watch this space btw, I have quite a few clips of Ross Danby I am currently uploading to his new site which will be openeing next week - take a look at some of them
(click on my sig banner below to go to his site)
-
Did you take it out the crate
-
What didnt you like ?. I was actually more impressed with it when I got it than in the pictures.
-
Thanks for putting this up Andy, I will be using it very shortly as you know
watch this space
-
Wow, that is one ugly piece of engineering
-
Yeah, I remember breaking a side mirror on my car... then I got married soon after! maybe theres something in this
-
No, of course not I look at most vids that people put up.
-
Well I had my first run out on the 06' 290 this sunday gone ( supplied by Graham at David Jones Newtown) and have noticed the following:-
[1] The suspension is significantly better than what was on my 4T. I even tried a splat LMAO!!! (was a small one though )
[2] I was getting lots of grip, something I struggled with on my 04 290
[3] Very powerful and smooth delivery, full lock turns were easy.
[4] The black powder coating is very thick and robust.
[5] The back mudguard/airbox cover with the uncovered slots in has got to be changed. I had a lot of mud and crap go in there. Will modify mine I think.
[6] I noticed the weight difference ( I should do though coming from the 4T )
[7] And it does look very nice indeed.
All in my humble opinion of course as im still a newbie when it comes to trials skills
-
I dont understand what your trying to say?
-
Well thats the obvious thing then to please everyone. Where possible, run an event on the saturday before remembrance day and donate the funds to the people who fought in the wars.(Not just WW2 either)
Sorted!
-
Speak for yourself Dan, the thing is, I'm fortunate to have the knowledge to be able to do them for my own club Breidden Hills but there is no way I could do them for other clubs as well. I just dont have the time. This will leave them in a bad situation and one which I am very uncomfortable with )
What it needs is someone like your self with a H&S company to write some or at least advise the ACU on some generic RA's on things like :
Refuelling
Events which have two way traffic
Venues which have Footpaths/Walkway right of ways.
Spectators at sections
etc etc
Then have the club define localised RA's (as in my example earlier in this thread at one of our venues which has mineshafts).
Is this statement direct from the ACU? if so, every club holding a trial this weekend and onwards are vunerable to a claim unless the necessary RA's have been done to an acceptable level.

-
Hey BS, time to trade the 04 in now for the 06!! you wont be dissapointed
-
For the whole country to have trials events in the aid of the Pension funds of the WW2 veterans has surely got to be a better cause than just doing nothing and I have the same respect for them as you 2 do. I have never thought about this before but it is a good idea. If you want to make the people who fought in the war have some respect for society today, then what better thing can you do than put money in their pockets to give them a better quality of life! After all, this government is doing sod all to help them!

The site is finished however, The Danbys have just upgraded to broadband but having problems with the service provider ( Wanadoo ) so they have had to cancel it and change to another . I am waiting for them to get online before I open it so they can see it and check out all the info etc to make sure its right!
And also, because the site has a forum where you can actually ask Ross or his dad, Mick questions. They need to be online to be able to respond.
Should be soon... and oh, he can do it
if you want to see what the youth rounds are like - take a look HERE at the stuff we took at the IOW
-
I think you will find that its the event organisers sole responsibilty for the safety & welfare of the participants/observers/public that attend the event.
I see it as the ACU have issued a statement that RA's should be done and have given basic guidance. Although this guidance in my view is not sufficient and needs to be more detailed.
My other concern is whether the insurance cover that is provided through the ACU will be subject to review of the RA's of the event before paying out?
Some generic RA's could be done and a written policy for say re-fuelling could be produced for all clubs leaving only localised RA's to be done by the club.( as in my earlier post). This could be a workable solution.
In relation to sections, I dont think this comes into it as its an intergral part of the sport and the riders accept this risk taking part. Its all the other stuff around the sections that are an issue. (like spectator positions etc)
