			i rode Trials constantly as a kid , tl125 was new .. and stopped right as the ty80 came out . I wish that scenario was reversed as the Honda was just a tad to big for me , but I managed ...I didn't ride a trials bike again until 2005 when I rediscovered the sport and got my 240 Fantc . Trials Tech milestones IMHO ....
1;Spanish bikes (enough said)
2;The fantic 240 motor (changed the way we rode )
3; Disc  brakes !!
4;The Beta Zero and the TY Mono . (changed design forever !!!)
5; and since then , it's all been fine tuning the design .
Just my 2 pence ...
Glenn

But it still is 98.9% rider , not the bike ....

			I ride a 240 and have a few expansion chambers , 1st one when I got the bike , got the serious Cleaning/soak in solvent and the the torch treatment .And then a blowgun to get all the debris out , rinse & repeat ...2nd one got cut open to see what was inside , similar to the photo , repacked and welded back up ....NOT worth the effort .! My bike runs better with the burned out unrepacked pipe than with the repacked pipe . Sounds just a tick more ringdingy, but make sure you've got a good clean silencer on it and it will respond better at all rpm's. And the pipes are about irreplaceable, so why risk damaging one ????

			I run K&N air filters in all my bikes , and as long as I know they are seated/sealed correctly I don't worry about them . Unless I've been in a very dusty event , which very rarely happens here in the southeast where I live ... But I do check their condition when I remember.......

			Engine # is stamped on a machined flat surface kinda under the carb towards the right side , you should be able to clean it and read it with a little patience ,and maybe a mirror .

			All I can add to that is "Just do it !!" . The whole ITSA Club (nationwide) are some of the best folks , Riders , and good times EVER !!! Always a enjoyable experience , no matter what bike or class your playing in ....
And I think it has to do with the Fact that 99.9% of us completely understand and enjoy The vision of the association .

			Dingle ;
If your set on a 300 get a new Mont 300 rr .The build quality will last for years with some proper luvin , And if the mapping switch works at all like it does on my Buddies early 250 Cota , (he knows some HRC engineers ,300 and some odd cc, and his bike is a hungry tiger in power mode and a tractable easy to control bike in the soft mode ..) I've been at this game for over 40 yrs now , and his is the most pleasant trials bike I've ever used. it will do anything you need suspension wise and will dislocate your shoulders if it's got traction . And I've always found 4t traction easier and smoother (although I compete on a sweet Fantic 240 )
 Bottom line : Get a bike , Test ride a Few first , Then have some fun learning how to ride all over again ... Serious Trials is not easy .... But you will be better for the experiance !!!
