My pals got an Ossa and Scorpa dealership,obviously the Ossas a no go but he can move all the newScorpas he can get.Thing is when I look at the Scorpa it's no different to a 95 Fantic Section sitting in my garage except the Fantics got 6 gears and a power valve. That's progress!

Not half ,I've ridden for 40 years and never on a British built bike got a cheek to criticise. Spain is on it's knees and can still knock out a decent bike. I can't name the last the last uk built trials bike. I would ask my Dad but he's been away 10 years. PS Whats the best trials bike the US and New Zealand have made?i

Thanks Andy, didn't know about the not running flat always have to push it off the hill! My charger cuts out when the green light goes on? I've ordered new batterys so I'll look after them better. I've a theory that the wee boy is not shutting the throttle to slow down every time and just riding the rear brake. This wont be helping things, Many thanks..

I asked this question a few months back and didn't get any decent answers as they were just out. As above did the SSDT on one so it was pretty hardy and grip was fine in that event. Don't have the same feel as a Michelin and I had to run it softer than I normally would to get the similar grip. Might be fine on a 4rt though as it's a bit heavier than my Ossa?

Mmnnn,looks like I'm the only person who takes one to regular trials. I'll play safe,give the Scott a miss this year!

As above folks 9 year old about 40kg light use. What should I reasonably expect? Bike is as new standard batteries. Thanks in advance.

They've got a great track record on the electrics front probably make a better diesel.

Hi Toneh,my point would be all the lads that have been about for donkeys won't have much bother adapting to the old 4rt Most like myself have ridden everything from a Lambretta to a Tiger 100 off road a some stage and can adapt to what they have. Two years is still well down the learning curve really need to give it time. No way is a 4rt as easy to ride as the average two stroke,haven;t got one but I do have a twin cam Scorpa only the old hands can make much off it when they have a play. If a good result was my main concern I would stick to the strokers.

Hi Jono from Fife, you've left things a bit late but there's plenty 50 year old newcomers about. Check out Lothian Trials club as they run Trials aimed soley at Beginners and fun riders, just turn up on the day and ride that's it. You'll even get a bit help from members if required. I ride most of there trials so maybe see you around. Cheers the noo.

Been well debated Trials is like a secret society,never really promoted except at a low level by some well meaning clubs and dealers. I've probably more chance of getting invited.to a Ku Klux Klan meeting than a Trial and I live in the UK and I'm trials convener of my local club. Even in my club I struggle to get promotional material like flyers and posters and reports in the press but these things do work Really don't think it's anything to do with the sport just no one knows about it.

I'm about to take a 9 year old my wife and myself out on the bikes at our local practice area. How much planning and effort does that require compared with lying in bed playing an x box? I do think as I drive out my road with the bikes on the back no way are any of them having as much fun as me today.

My disc guard had to be removed to get the wheel out, can't really mind what the problem was Binned it they're all useless anyway. Canada's spot on with his advice,very easy to remove/fit when you know the drill.

I'm hopefully picking up a new Oset 2'0 racing today but nothing on a green ticket made me buy it, It's about ease of operation and low maintenance. If we found oil under Stonehenge it would be bottoming for the road there before you could charge it up. However I will feel a lot better when I arrive at the next trial in my 3 litre jeep knowing I've done my bit.

No quite on topic but. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks like this. To produce electricity you usually burn fossil fuels so you use this to power something that would burn a fossil fuel in the first place. Then you've got a battery that won't last forever and will be made of something pretty dodgy . As trials bikes use about a teaspoonful of fuel a just don't get it. Just think of everything you use that works from a battery,that's right,rely on it at your peril.

We have a big membership but keeping kids and young adults is a problem. I've said it before as long as they're making more over 40s we're in with a shout. I've felt for a while trials needs a change of direction,the rules,all the classes,routes,walking sections i's such a guddle. Must be a simpler way?

Aye your right I've this standard 340 Bultaco costing me about £2k and it;s still a bag of spanners probably needs about another £500 to make it rideable. Surely a simple rule is all machines should be as standard as resonably practical?

I don't know if you're qualified to say this with a Gas Gas and a Fantic? Just kidding. I love my Ossa because it's just that bit different I know they've had issues so if you're looking for Honda like reliability forget it; Apparently the 14 is the one to have and I've had no problems that were the bikes fault. Plus points are the way it fuels which I would describe as sublime,air filter which never needs attention and the radiator stays clear. Plastics great too. Minus takes a right kick to fire up bushed suspension linkage bit cheap and cheerful. Decider to me would be having a local dealer who knows his way around them. Cheers the noo as we say up here.

Should work as soon as the clutch plates free off. Stick it in 4th and rock it back and forward with the cluch in before you start it, normally works.

Aye right enough,but take the lever off and make sure the piston in the master cyl is getting right back it's crucial.

If I mind right the fluid should just run down from the master cyl out the bleed nipple on the slave cyl. Take the cluch lever off to let the piston in the master cyl right back and use an allen key or similar to push the piston. Not meaning to be cheeky but you're not trying to bleed it by pumping the slave cyl? Cheers.

Getting way off target now and I have to admit (Even though I'm over 50) old bikes are not my thing. My point is though with that many age/machine/ability related classes throughout the trials scene it's just a nonsense. Personally all trials should be grouped soley by ability lets call it a,b,c,d ride what route you like with whatever bike you like. I know you would get folk riding groups that are too easy for them,but if they're happy for a 8 year old on a Beta 80 or a 70 year old on an Ariel to be riding a harder group than them who am I to judge.

I think the real problem is money! Up here the sport is administered by a group of well meaning unpaid volunteers and all the clubs likewise. If they had decent funds someone could be paid to promote the sport in a professional manner. There's no shortage of things you can do if you have ths cash. Advertising material, promotional dvd's demo bikes,test day's free trials for newstarts stands at shows,free training sponsorship, extra beginners trials etc Make cheques payable to the "East Neuk Wobblers" please. .
