Rules maybe the issue ,it's the overdevelopment of the bikes that's caused this situation. Too light,too much grip,too much power,too much suspension and useless for anything other than short circuit trials. Only since the advent of modern trials tyres have riders been able to stop and pull away. Before that stopping wasn't really an option even if the rules allowed it.

Another classic trialling weekend graced by brilliant weather. Many thanks to Midge and the team for all their hard work. Great atmosphere and very well supported by Southerners who really make an effort to come. A few Irish too. Well done to my fellow Wobblers all bar one struggling to the finish.

There's an adjustment on these. It's a brass screw affair at rhe top of the shock near where it bolts on to the frame, Screw in to stiffen out to soften.

I've had Scorpas for about 10 years and too hava a sy250f. They certainly ride better than they look but I wouldn't saythey are as easy to ride as a modern two stroke. What I want to say is don't be so quick to dimiss the newer Sherco engined Scorpas. Still have that nice neutral feel and ride about 30 lbs lighter. Had one for a year and has been faultless and I use it a lot. j

It is a rough old thing however it appears pretty original and not trialled to death. I'm away to the SSDT shortly but I'll see what I can do on the photo front when I get back. Thanks for your comments.

A friend has a tatty 340 6speed Bultaco in his shed. Runs,a bit scuffy says gears and cluch OK. Wheels look newish. Anyone care to hazard a guess at a value as he wishes to sell it?

Aye same here left the wee plastic infills out. When you put the tank back on you always have to move the cable junction box about.

Tut .tut,it's worth watching just to listen to those Yammy/Scorpa hybrids,never heard a better sounding trialler. Certainly better than that old BSA and yellow thing whatever it is that clutters our northern trials scene. See you ay Kidlaw?

Frankly it's overdevelopment of the bikes that's caused this problem. Look at the prep list for Beta for the SSDT on this site. What it says is hopeless for anything other than short circuit trials. and the rest of the makes are the same. Are they really motorcycles any more? you can't sit down or go any distance and are borderline legal on the road at best It's not rule changes. ,

I take it there plenty clearance at the lever itself and it 's not putting pressure on the clutch.?

Loads of Ossas in this area,mainly due to the backup of the local dealer. I think most buy them because they're a bit different. Appeals to the individual in us. LIke the FI set up as I've spent too long cleaning carbs and filters. i

I wouldn't class myself as No1 Bultaco Fan,rode a 76 (managed to seize the big end) and frankly it just fell apart ,never so happy when dad got me a TL125. Having not learn my lesson I ended up with a new 79 250,it too fell apart rapidly especially the wheels and the airbox couldn't keep water out. Moved on to RL,s which I wrecked too but at least they lasted a year or two. Strangely I later got involved with Italjets which looked like Bultaco copies,but I loved them,never had any issues with them. My advice,go modern.

I don't think anyone would argue that he's not the best there's ever been. Honda? do they have the best interests of trials at heart remember thay wanted us all on 4 strokes and failed. Honda winning all these World titles does not do European makers any favours.

It would be great if he could give the SSDT and Scott a go,massive boost to both events not that they are in need of a boost. Would he win them?

I can only say what works for us. We run a fun route that anyone with basic bike skills can have a go at. The "harder" route is set at a level which an average rider should clean. That's it 2 routes where with sections that encourage everyone to have a bash. Discriminates against the better riders but they can pick and choose there events . Enter on the day and day membership.

Obviously as a Scot the subject of money is very dear to my heart. And as a keen trials organiser and rider I am well aware of the weather playing havok with us. What I'm wondering is with the decreased income due to these cancellations is it likely that costs will rise especially insurances to cover shortfalls? I'm not suggesting anyone makes much money from events but I imagine someone will be losing out.

Try it with the mudguard off,the filter set up is quite restrictive.

I'm sure you will get plenty offers of help with transport one you join the trials scene. Most like to double up to share costs. I suppose if a trials 10/15 miles away riding there could be on but it has other practical implications like fuel,breakdowns,daylight etc.

Hello there,if you ever fancy a visit to Fife look us up. Run trials monthly and practices to suit beginners and fun riders. You'll get all the advice you need. Had a trial last week and a trial/training day today. Just come along and ride no pack drill. Find a nice woody bit to play if it's miserable,don't trail ride,just do sections soon gets a heat up. Have fun.

See our Gov't has ringfenced millions for sport at primary schools. It would be great if they gave each school a couple of unicycles,Bmx's,Cyclo Trials bikes. Bet the kids would love it.

Must be a Welsh thing,up here as CoC I couldn't give 2 hoots if a parent doubled up on the sections so as to avoid a bit hiking. Your point about the cross country being harder than the sections is valid,it's something clubs should be aware off. I wont knock MX as I've served my time there too but you do need a lot more cash. Club Trials have no need for a heavy handed approach,but at national level you have to expect a few sticklers. Anyway.if I get a complaint I send them to my wife,the get a grip look kills them. She says were all just playing and she's right.
