  1. My book says 45 is std but I have 2 biles, one with a 44 , the other with 42! Depends on how the exhaust is and if the silencer is new/repacked or WES. Sorry i cant be mor especific, did you check the crank seals? Lee
  2. great bike, novice or expert. ALL spares readily available at sensible prices. Lee
  3. No it was ridden in 97 by hans greiner in indoor trials. Wos a factiry supported bike from Peter Schwarz. I got the indoor tank with it also, eggcup capacity, 5cm more space for the Gonads. Mine done touch the std tank, maybe hans is a big boy.....

    97 Section

Just bought this for 500 euros, about 350 uk pounds. Runs well, good forks etc etc...a steal. Unfortunatlely it was dropped and the power valve control was destroyed...casing is cracked and has been bodged close. anybody gut a good bottom end cheap? lee
  5. I would drain the gearbox oil to check to see if its all there. i had a minarelli crank seal go on mine last year and that woz difficult to diagnose but easy to cure! lee
  6. Heres my tuppence worth.... A previous post may have initiated the discussion (301 twin shock fantic...I personally would have left it as a mono if I woz competeing against another mono...another discussion) The Most important part for me (thanks Pete) is the "spirit of things". Gasgas forks and hydraulic clutches were not available in 84. Thierry Michauds 300 however did appear once in a while with a Mikuni carb AND an reed valve so I rekon thats as far as it goes. I have a 240 with a 243 engine in it...still piston ported but no more 240 clutch baskets and ignitions forced me to make that mod. It has no discs nor hydraulik clutchs. And the forks have std internals and are not gas gas. For me, my next, a 240 with a 309 engine is as far as I personally want to go and still remain in the spirit of things. Here in germany nobody will care about the reed valve as I dont ride the top cl
  7. I just sold one of my fantic 240s for 420 quid. new chain/sprockets. needed tyres and fork seals for competition. And if you wanted to win, probably a new set of shocks. Most spares available but theyve stopped making pistons for some reason Even here help is at hand as WES is trying to get some made. Cheap and competitive. Lee
  8. Hi Glenn, Hi steve, I have a good (erm lady!) friend of mine moving to the US of A to work in Michigan for at least a year or so. She will only sell me her Coach (motor) if I find out where she can ride in and around Troy. (Another Auto Engineer.!!!) She may just watch this thread or join and add to it, but tell me all the info you have on where to ride. ancient or modern!!! Lee

    Fantic 307

I am bidding on a 309 here in germany which I intend to break as i need the motor. Whats the rear shock worth to you and I will bid accordingly. Pm if necessary. Look under fantic on www. evilbay.de the bike I
  10. The 300 certainly looks in great condition. will you be trying punch or splatter techniques up those 4 feet steps?????? Martins Mudguards also look the part. And of course Andy at Grafficks, my Hebo has never looked better, highly recommended. I dont know Outlaw Dave but he seems like a nice man......
  11. Dont know whos bike it is but its a single cylinder bwm about 1960 i think. Theres a guy riding some of the german classic rounds here on one. Very heavy but oiling the chain is easy....its got shaft drive!!! Isnt this one? lee
  12. martin, you are a genius...pm on the way! lee
  13. Oops, peter is right. The bottom cylinder fin is cut out on a 301 onwards...so you need to cut it away or use a 301 barrel. thanks pete. And of course we put grub screws in our exhaust ports and not chocolate :-) Lee
  14. Yes steve, rears are unobtainium. i know a guy who has a couple but hes not giving them out off his hands!!! Chgange it! Post some piccies also, heres one of mine...
  15. I you want the 301 or 303 flywheels, you have to change the ignition backplate as wheel as they are ducati ignitions. (The std 300 had a motoplat ignition). The covers, as said before , also needs changing. The 300 Michaud Rep also had the ducati idnition, but try to find one. Also only the std 303 has the weights to adjust. the std. 301 flywheel did not have the weights but will run with a 303 flywheel which did....get what I mean? If you sell the 300 ignition, flywheel and pork chop cover on say ebay, you will probably get nearly enough for a 301 ignition and cover complete. I have done it twice before. The 300 motoplat ignitions are rarer than weapons of mass destruction in Iraq ;-) If it runs ok though, I would leave it. The 300 has slightly sharper porting than the 301 and 303, so a lighter flywheel makes it only suitable for dry trials in Bahrain! I like the 303 engine in my 300 which as much flywheel weight as possible, but as I said, its not as peaky as a 300 anyway. Steve, if you are trying to ride the 300 like a gas gas, tape your left hand behind your back, or at least leave the clutch alone. It will go anywhere without using the clutch. Prehaps Greevsey will let us know his well respected opinion...Peter, over to you! HTH Lee
  16. So we have two opinions, std or not? I still have the 370 barrel on the bike at the mo and that is CRAAAAP! I will strip and check that to see if the hole ois there also. Lee
  17. Told you so... watch out for my upcoming mamouth posting on my 340 build up. I need it for Jersey next year and I wont be riding the beamish! lee
  18. I try to get over and ride the dartmoor (SEPT) and exmoor trials (easter). tHE SECOND IS VERY DRIVEABLE FROM bARNSTABLE: tHE dARTMOOR WAS MUCH HARDER LAST YEAR DUE TO LOTSA RAIN AND WATER BUT THE EXMOOR IS BRILL: I ALWAYS HAVE SEVER MUSCLE CRAMPS IN MY CHEEKS FROM GRINNING IN THE SECTIONS: bILL hARTNELL IS THE MAN TO CONTACT: sorry for the caps problem lee
  19. Thanks Peter! I will do as you say! lee
  20. I rode my 325 beamish in the last round of the Euro cup yesterday. Quite fun but it is very "tired" to coin a phrase. That means, no poke! I now have a used std barrel with slight scoring and a new 0,25mm oversize piston (Thanks Robin!) Just need to visit the boring shop! Now my question: The barrel has a ca. 6mm hole drilled in it about 10mm above the exhaust port windows. Is this normal? Constructive answers only please Greeves! Lee
  21. Maybe it would be a good idea not to spill the oil???? if you ride like this, the oil will run out anyway! I just spoke to one rider here who has a Sherco guard from the same. i will try to post a picture. Big John, I didnt quite understand the SSDT bit, but then again I
