  1. Anyone thinking of getting your bike MOT'd ! . Ive seen lots of differing versions of what you need posted into the forums.. ive just had mine done so I can confirm the requirements - 1) horn (constant sound - not honk HONK !) - megablast horn avail on ebay 2) road reg plate (to the proper standards, i.e full size) 3 Tyres - if your tyres say 'for offroad use only' on them, scrub this off, start with with a sharp Stanley knife then sand to remove any trace The bike has to be in general good condition in terms of play on headstock or swing arm / wheels. Get insured, get taxed and BINGO .. legal ! I was stopped by the Police last weekend and had the small plate on, I was in local woods (just off a green lane :-) ! . I explained I was practising and had public safety at the top of my thoughts, showed him my docs and off he went. Now I know there are folks on here that will shoot me down and say 'im giving the sport a bad name', but im legal and have the freedom to ride (being sensible about this !) anywhere I see good practice sections along my green lane routes (great app avail for this and bar mounted holder on ebay for a tenner) ... we need new folks into this sport, not every newbie will turn up at a trial the first time they get on the bike !
  2. Hello All, I bought myself a 125f to get back into things after a 5 year break from trials. Its a nice little bike, high revs everywhere but will do anything im prepared to look at for the minute. My question is - has anyone fitted the 175 big bore kit and how much of a difference does it make ?, Is it difficult to fit ?, not sure if I should give this a try or just go straight into buying another 4rt. Mabey im kidding myself and the small bore 4 pumper at 125 is all i'll need !, im 45 now and not as brave as I was 20 years ago ! ive go a bolt on longride seat with it and this is a great bonus as its also effective and capable on a short distance green lane burst ! I Love the bike and quite fond of it so your experiences and comments on this model would be appreciated. (trying to give myself reasons to keep it !)
  3. Thanks for your advice all, we have agreed im closer to guessing the age ! .. Its for sale, im in Newcastle upon tyne and it just been listed on ebay. Im looking for a road reg 125.
  4. Can anybody tell me what year my sons Oset is ?, just taken some pics to sell it and me and the other half are having a BIG dispute over how old it is ?, bought in new, the missus reckons we have had it 7 years and im saying 5 years.... What year is it please . Thanks
  5. Will a new 125cc be fun for me @ 15 stone or will the bugger just not pull ? My lad is asking for a new bike and I don't know If should consider a new 125 for him (and me to ride). Any dads out there that ride the son's 125 ??
  6. Thanks for the advice ... anyone on here tried wheel building ?, I thought you needed a jig ?
  7. Great, do you have any contact details ? pm me please. Thanks
  8. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or know of anyone that will dismantle wheels, anodize the rims and hub then rebuild ? I used Jamie at candy wheels in the past but he no longer has a website .... or he has changed it ! Cheers
  9. That's very bad news, used them for years and they always gave top class service. I ordered new boots and helmet 2 days before xmas this year and got them special delivery on xmas eve, they were very helpful indeed. I hope the company is purchased as an ongoing concern as all of the staff know there stuff and go beyond 'normal' customer service.
  10. Quick one and maybe a silly question ! Can the 125's be road registered, they don't seem to be any second hand road reg 125 bikes at all for sale. I know these are mainly for youth riders so probably no need to register but im just wondering if you can register them when bought new ? Cheers
  11. clicky hereHave a look at the softshells / jackets ... they will even embroider your logo's www.logo-co.com
  12. I'd agree with the above, my boy has had one for a couple of years (he's 7 now), he loves it and it pulls very well for the sort of sections the wee guys try.... also now avail in 36v
  13. Just in case anyone else has this problem .. it was the thing you turn to adjust the power (one on the back under the seat). Disconnect that and problem solved, the bike will only run on full power though. Cheers
  14. Mine's the same, the white dvd's sound a little dodgy !! At the end of the day buy an original as someone else will profit other than Ryan who put a whole lot of effort into making and producing the DVD's .... fair is fair
  15. Hi All, I've a problem with my lads bike. the twist grip shows full charge / power but when you twist to go ... nowt ! Ive checked over the connectors and they look ok ...... anyone any idea what to start looking at first ? Cheers folks
  16. You will love it. Tips would be - Keep a mental note of what you will have left in the tank (fill if unsure), You will see the enduro bike cut through divets and ruts in the ground like there not there ..... You dont have anywere near as much travel in your shocks (approach with care). High gear most of the way slip the clutch and ease the power as you go through with the clutch. Keep over the back and try to float the front wheel over rough ground. Bet you Win . Lots ot trials bike are coming in the top 5 at these hare and hound events ! .... chap came 3rd at the foxwell last year on a sherco with some foam taped to his seat ! Have a great day and Good luck, let us know how you get on
  17. I've seen more and more trials bikes out on TRF rides ..... It's a lot more fun on a trials bike but you must be fully road legal and join join your local TRF (cheap). Get out with the enduro boys on the green lanes and you'll find lots of nice 'sections' on the way. It's not ideal on the flat, you'll have to get her in top and give her some yahooo to keep up with the pack .............. but when you come to a (simple) climb you will see your enduro clad freinds looking for 'ways to go around' .... not to mention woods, streams and rocks Just do it while you can cos yet again your government does not want this body to continue ... , you'll have a good day out and probally find new places to ride. I've been riding enduro but moving back to trials and am getting a 4rt and will be going out with the TRF .. road legal on hand signals, daytime MOT etc. Cheers
  18. Sorry if this is a stupid question Have mont got a 2010 bike on the market ? ... from what I've read there seems to be conflicting story's of what is going on ! If the 4rt does go 'end of life', how long would they support the 4rt with spares ? As i say sorry if this is way out of date in terms of 'whats going down', i've been out but coming back into trials after breaking my leg .. Again ! doing enduro and the 4rt is the bike for me. Anyone know the score with mont ? Cheers all P.S. 4rt - THE BIGGEST REVOLUTION IN OFF ROAD BIKES SINCE UPSIDE DOWN FORKS ! ........ hope the bugger STAYS.
  19. Was it not just cause you wanted dougie to win his 100th as per you signature .......
  20. It's all about resting your foot on the back brake and learning to 'feather' it once you feel the bike is coming up to high ................ the only exception to this rule is if you ride a 4t, the braking can then be controlled by the throttle. Learn by bringing the bike up off the clutch and get your legs hanging off the back dragging along the ground (almost like you are walking along with the bike on the back wheel), this will give you a sense of how far the bike will come up before you come off the back (it's higher than you think !). keep doing this and lift your feet little by little. As the other guy's have said, an incline helps. Keep at it and you will be doing walking pace sit down wheelies within 6 months. ... gud luck.
  21. What they need is SALES SALES SALES, expect some good deals as they will churn the tin for the rest of 2009. Nice solid bikes, hampered by the lack of a full factory tuned model with a top 10 world rider on the books ,,, i think the will come through with stronger marketing of the longride into the enduro / trail market and aimed at the old school boys that want a bike that will be easy to handel rather than white knuckles 'R' us. fingers crossed for Scorpa
  22. Warden Law is good for about 2 hours, then it's boring. Have you been in the woods at the back of Penshaw Hill ? ... land owner is a trials rider and if you drop him a drink off he has no problem at all with trials bikes (no mini moto's, MX or 4x4's)
  23. As above .... oil it before you put it back, dont miss that important step. I always have two. one for cleaning / oiling and one to ride.
