  1. Is the beta Lampkin rep out yet ?
  2. As Ishy say's ... expect a bit on the mag of the drain bolt on an 02 bike... this is normal. but as long as the filings are very fine (lot less than sand) . If the filings are sand size or bigger, its a time bomb.. but my advise would be if it sounds ok and no nasty bottom end knocks, ride and enjoy, change the oil every 5 or 6 times out.
  3. Doug is going to have to dig deep for his 100th. If you look at doug's competition in his career ...... Marc... (most of the time)..... Fuji ......... Raga ........Bou the competition has gone from a handful to the impossible in the form of Bou (who gets on the 4rt and is just as good or better from day 1) The 100th is there but it's gona take an extra ordinary effort from Doug ............. Lets hope for a very wet 2008 trials season. Good luck Doug.
  4. I've had ELF (which is good) I now use cheapo ATF from Halfords, not as good as the ELF ...... but not far off. windlestone is right about BVM, thats were I got mine from ....
  5. Yep, the police could take your bike if it's not road registered, taxed, insured .... Mot'd ! I'd keep away. Send a letter to some of the local farms in the area, many are prepared to 'turn a blind eye' if 1) You dont take the pi$$, not to many of you, and stick to the area he wants you to. 2) Give him a good bottle of whiskey before you leave.
  6. I've been back and forward between 2T's and 4T's a few times. Also had a sherco cabby rep. By Far the best in my opinion is the Mont 4rt, that's what you should go for without any shadow of a doubt. Hope you do and enjoy riding it.
  7. Sorry If this has been covered, i've been away from trials for a while doing enduro, so this is new news to me. Anyone think Doug can nail another podium 1st on the Beta ...... or has he spent to long on the 4rt to pick up a 2t and ride it as well as he did ? If Bou's anything to go by then the 4rt seemed to bring him on ! ........................ Hope Doug finds his his 100th on the Beta, good luck for 2008 to the Lampkin clan.
  8. Points noted .... but until its announce on here by andy its heresay ........ i still reckon he and monty will work it out, ,,,,, it will all be about Bou taking the limelight, Doug will be back in 2008 with his 100th title on a mont
  9. Come on guy's do you seriously think Doug will be parting company with the mighty Mont ........ bet he stays with the big boys 1) they pay more than any other manufacturer 2) Doug sells bikes ..... number 1 or not ! Doubt it will happen but good luck to him if he does, on a more positive note It would no doubt give him some extra determination to win if he went back to the two banger
  10. Hmmmm they should have coloured the wheels instead of the frame !! why would you want to cover such a work of art ? ... the repsol looks the boy ... i'm havin one with the wheels done black ....... now,,,,, were's me credit card
  11. Ride at a comfortable level dude, you should not be breaking bones (unless you are being very well paid for it). take it one step at a time and build yourself up more slowly ..... if not you will come off and really do some serious damage ... or worst .... and never ride again ....chill and enjoy
  12. Thanks for the reply atom..... i did say within the next few years, like cotakid, i'd recon Bou has it now for three or four years. Having said that, who the hell am i to make such a judgement ! .... I only work off the info available to me, these cycle trials boys from the us are maturing and looking for the next challenge ....... 'i'd say doug will be the last uk champion for at least a decade' ..... having said that ,,,,,,,,,, come on Dibbs son, lets have the next level out of you. 50% mind power, 30% skill, 10% fitness, 10% eat and drink like a true athlete...... Drink Water ;-)
  13. At the end of the day, Grimbo has been underated for a few years now without serious the sponsership support of others .. but as the head of sherco you would need to make a choice ............ Grimbo or Cabby ! (unless you are the head of Honda ! only one main rider can be given the full sponsership treatment,,,,bespoke bike development, trainers, diet and fitness plans etc). Oh, Grimbo can also go an enduro ..... the word Taddy springs to mind !!! (previosly him and a couple of his mates stuggling around the World Trials circuit ..... now a 80 man strong team of ktm pro's on tap .... and about 500% more money in his pocket to boot. Drink Water ;-)
  14. I agree with kickstart, take a break, eat well, drink lots of water, less booze and build your fitness, then come back after a couple of weeks break with a possitive mental attitude .... can do and replay a good section ride in your mind before you do it. Remeber as stated previosly, first it's fun, if you are having fun, your riding will improve with your enthuisasum. If it dosent after a break and increased fitness, then accept you are at your level and enjoy rather than be fearful before every section, drop down a level.
  15. The bar is being up'ed by the young boys coming through, cycle trials is becoming more and more popular (more so in the states) and will prove a superb training basis for the youth coming through, if you look at the balance and skill involved, it far exceeds bmx'ing etc .... the next world champion will more than likely be from the states and come from nowt like a bolt out of the blue .... like bou did, i remember his first wildcard entry at hawk, who would have thought that in such a short time he would dominate world trials, indoor and out !. The boys across the pond are taking an interest in this sport and there's 100's of them in skate parks now doing 720's on a razors edge without even thinking about it, skill levels that we think is impossible (look the vids up on youtube ... awsome) No doubt they will have to make up there own set of rules to ensure thay can be 'world champions', but I'd bet the states are a big trials player within the next few years ... which wont be a bad thing for the sport.
  16. That is cheap man, there is no other aftermarket supplier because there's no market for it ! Thank your lucky stars it isnt a ktm top end rebuild ..... now that would be expensive !
  17. When Doug won at hawkstone last time the crowd pushed him all the way .... as the roars increased, so did Doug
  18. .Dougie would do well in the city, he certainly looks the part ... I hope he whips it at hawksone next week. It's gota be hard for him finishing behind the up and coming youngsters after he has been there and tasted it ... looking back at some of his interviews he was referring to pig's flying when asked about James beating him ........ That wasn

  21. Sat trials on most weekends again in the NE, it must be a summer thing !(it was this time last year i moved up to the good north). Look in the TC events calender.....if you you fancy doing one
  22. I know there's going to be a few rude comments on this topic ! ..... but I'm suffering from cramp in my clutch finger and hands toward the end of a trial, a general feeling that I cant hold onto the bugger any longer which is runing my results. warming up, I get the usual burn in the lower arms and ache in the hands, it goes after about 10 - 15 mins of riding. the first and second lap are good ..... then i hit a brick wall, i cant pull the clutch in or turn the bike, .... it's a bummer Has anyone got any tips on what could help in terms of bar position or height......... or anything else that might help, exercise for the hands / arms / fingers ?? Cheers ...
  23. Standard stock scorpa bars are a higher rise, not sure if 6 though, might be 6.25 ??
