  1. Hi Andy, Welcome to the best hobby know to man, if you stick at it and get to a level to try a trial you will love it ... good luck. In terms of the service, you wont have to get anyone to do anything its a simple job when using the manuals. it will be worth dropping the oil, chainging the air filter and grab yourself a new plug (keep the existing one as a good spare) .... give the suspension a quick check for any obviose damage....... then enjoy

    4rt Enduro ?

If you put the wiring loom back in, it will restrict the bike. You would be better to buy a longride seat and put a small 12v battery in it, run you front light off that. Or look at some of the mountain bike or enduro battery lights, lots of choice from companies like braybrook. The 4rt makes a fantastic enduro ride ....... enjoy
  4. To be totally legal you would need a full size plate but i've been stopped before with a small plate on and when the policeman realised it would be totally useless to put a full size plate on it would last about 10 mins if that !.... he was fine about it and just let me ride on telling me to make sure i used my hand signals when turning, stopping ect ...... on another occasion, I had a police car behind me and they didnt even bother to stop me. I think if you were to be fined for using a small plate it would be from a real stick-in-the-mud type copper, i recon 99% of the time you will be fine once the policeman realises you a not a yobbo. 5. sorry, the 'ol fart' commet was tounge in cheek and ot ment to cause any offence ........ i love the opposing views you often provide in these forums..... keep it up
  6. I agree with some of you views ... you old fart. But it's not us trials riders that are going to get the sport banned .... it's mini mx'ers , in a court of law they are all the same 'off road bikes'. I dont think sod it i'll do it attitude will help either but the summer is coming and some of us like to have a few hours out during the week on a week night when trials arnt on..... My original post was - what is the legal positon, and whas this section 56 or 59 whatever mean
  7. Trials practise areas are at risk and are diminishing in numbers as builders buy up land to develop, old colliery
  8. Hi all, Anyone know what the options are for 4rt longride seats ? not bothered about additional tank capacity, just want one to ride three miles to and from work in the summer
  9. Agree with Nigel, these are a must have if you are serious about working on and maintaining your bike
  10. How did it go ? did you get to the bottom of it ?
  11. HHHHMMMM, Interesting, my view was the same as yours, I know SU is more refined and requires less oil as the base fuel is far better quality but didnt realise the ignition properties were less than that of standard fuel. Were did you get your info from ???
  12. If i were a betting man - 1) Bou (you could see he was going to be the man way back at Hawk 05, in the absence of numerous minders - awesome) 2) Fuji (lets face it .. if Fugi didnt get injured last year it would have been a different story in 06) 3) Raga (Class on a gasgas !) 4) Cabs (depends if he can keep it together, very emotional rider) 5) our man Dougie (the best trials rider on the planet in his time, i'd love him to win .... but !, the younger boys are coming through) 07 will be a two podium places for the monty's ..... Come on dougie, youve got one last chance to take it. anyone taking bets ?
  13. It's all to do with if you have the above available and if you can deal with the hasstle ?, what kind of bike and the balance between selling it and buying a road reg bike. It can be a lot of trouble
  14. Guy's, just get a new tyre .... save time and hasstle
  15. Ok mate thanks. ..... you been to Penshaw yet ?
  16. I pick up my new 4rt on Friday. Does anyone have and advise on running the bike in ? Checks to do, first oil change, how long to take it easy etc. Cheers ...
  17. On gassers - the 280 is the most snappy and harder to hold onto (when tired). I'd go for a 250 or 300, the 250 gives less, more controlled power, the 300 will give you smoother power but lots of tourque if needed (good when you need to plug your way out of a technical section with loads from the bottom end). Hope this helps ....
  18. Are you saying Lampkin trials training is on Sky 3 the morns at 5 ?
  19. It has sound for me .... it's a four banger... Agree with your observations though
  20. 4 stroke gasser japan vid ! Anybody got any idea what this is all about ? ...
  21. After reading through TC forums, there is only a handful of people who regularly reply to posts and it seems to be the same old names (not that i'm complaining , these forums contain some of the best advise available ... anywhere ). But how do we get even more people to interact within the forums ..... We need opinions from observers, trials organisers and novice to expert riders .The forums dont move quick enough to justify login in every night at the moment and i for one look forward to reading updated posts. I dont know if it's just me ... but more and more spectators seem to be turning up at local event's ... as if the sport is beginning to generate more public interest. I know a lot of young lads are now coming through from bicycle trials and maybe thats what is making the sport more appealing ? Trials is on the up and up gents ... lets all do our bit to raise the profile of the sport. First job - Become a TC supporter and share your experiences and thoughts in the forums.
  22. Glad you didnt take offence at my last post .. , none was meant
  23. What a very gay topic ! ...... do you really need advice on how to fit a front mudgaurd cos the rivets you bought are to short ...... it'll be a hoot when you have a real problem ! ... good luck
