Mr Dabster what are you getting at ?, why would they have to be imports ? do you have somthing against the importer ?
  2. This is in danger of getting silly and has precious little to do with James Dabill Nobody who has won 7 world championships is anything other than exceptional. personally I think Doug is better, no stats required, he's a brit.
  3. stump magnet where did you get the carbon exhaust guard from ? this is my first sherco, do the std clutch covers give trouble ? only 4 weeks to ssdt !
  4. Out of nine starts in the ssdt we have only had good weather once when my names been on the entry list. and i'm riding this year, slapshots got a one in nine chance of organising good weather based on my stats !! surely you get more than one sarnie in nine right though Gizza 5 ?
  5. I couldnt find Bosis or Fabio Lenzi in the latest list of riders, have they dropped out or have I missed them ?
  6. Stump magnet have you made the whole thing or the inspection cover ?
  7. baldilocks replied to racey's topic in Sherco
Hey Racey I'll swap your exhaust for my new one, maybe then I 'll stop doing unintentional doughnuts in every section !!!
  8. DO NOT split the kit, the one time you need a tool or spare I'll guarantee your mate will have it and he'll be in front of you !
  9. Ishy its like the ssdt but the weathers better and its a lot cheaper.......... where you from again ????
  10. will the water pump still work ok if you skim the cover ? is there enough clearance on the kickstart shaft ? i'd buy a new one
  11. my wife wants to kill you but thanks for the info anyway, anyone know what emmerdale is ??

  16. Anth I'm going to Warden Law for about 3 tomorrow, You and I need to discuss spanners and i'll explain why pulling a dog turd through from the inside would defeat the purpose of the dog turd. Is the puncture on the TYZ or the aprillia ?
  17. I think an ambassodor is somebody who represents somthing, in this case trials. Did Doug represent trials, did he bring it to the attention of non trials folk ? he was on You Bet a few years ago he was on They Think Its All Over he was on Top Gear a few times and when i try and explain what I do on a weekend, people have often said who's that british guy who's the best in the world ? Trials is a minority sport when compared to football for example but I think Dougie Lampkin MBE (suppose that s another example) has done an excellent job purely in terms of getting himself into areas of the media that you wouldnt expect to see him in. I dont think Dave Thorpe, 3 times world MX champ managed to get himself on the box as much.
  18. I'm puzzled I just bought an 07 290 after riding Gas Gas for the last 8 Months. I find the Sherco clutch lighter but also sharper, its fine once you get used to it but I'm wondering why yours is heavier ? I have noticed that the adjuster screw on the lever doesnt seem to line up properly with the Master cylinder with either the AJP long lever or the apico one, perhaps I should go back to the original shorter lever ?
  19. baldilocks replied to motosinge83's topic in SWM
The first photo posted is what I recognise as a 350 Jumbo SWM as ridden by Schrieber, Michaud et al in the 83 world championship. They had the clutch lightener under the tank fastened to the cylinder head. Some good club lads got them for the ssdt in 83 but they were very powerful bikes. Quinns supported rider that year on SWM was a guy called Geoff Mcdonnell, a good rider in our centre ( he has a few scott spoons so he wasnt just average). He found the jumbo way to powerfull and claimed you could ride most sections in the SSDT in 3rd or 4th gear IF you could keep up with it ! the Jumbos had a reed valve engine rather than disc valve I think. Ive seen a couple of other posts referring to smaller CC jumbos but I thought the 350 was the only one actually called a jumbo ?
  20. this is a little off topic but here goes.... never mind the blinkin linkage, that Ossa is in the living room by the looks of it, where did he get his wife ???
  21. baldilocks replied to ants's topic in Yamaha
I used to have one of these and I'm only a couple of miles from Gateshead. I dont have a book but I may be able to help if you get stuck, just post it on here or PM me cheers
  22. the photo 2fargone posted is the same rear suspension design I was talking about but the frames Quinns inherited were not chrome, they were matt black so maybe there were at least two frame manufacturers. I'm pretty certain John Reynolds rode one in the Irish world round, i'm sure Ive seen a photo of him wearing the Charles Hurst bib from the event and you can see the bikes mono.
  23. I'm going to go sunday. Baldilocks jnr needs looking after sat am while Mrs Baldilocks is at work. I would take him but he's useless on the bike , bit like his dad really. Do you think 7 months is to young for a 300 Gas Gas ?
  24. I'm planning to go to Addingham Moorside this weekend but just wanted to check if this will be ok as its nearly 2 hrs away for me. Anybody know of a reason why it wouldn't be ok ? like is it still ok to practice there, is there a trial on there this weekend ? cheers
  25. Listen 2fargone, after all this talk, and I agree by the way, you'd better be coming up. I'm not driving 250 miles to fall off a bike if no ones going to be around to extract the urine see you in the west end
