  1. And did you look at the first two rounds? He got beaten by guys who arent on the world circuit, some (with no disprespect) who arent even close to being on the world circuit while at venues with terrain you wouldnt get much of in Spain. He finished 6th one week, and 10th the next at a british round. 10th!!!!! That was collyolly's point about other riders shining on different terrain Tong IMO is a pathetic attempt at a british rnd
  2. Great story. And then they say bultacos arent pre65
  3. AMEN!!!!!! A lot of the outdoors are just becoming another outdoor indoor trial. Japan is one of the few that survives. Its more british than the british round!!!! Also remember a "rather good" spanish rider rode the BTC a couple of years back, including the buster limeworks, and got a "rather good" whooping He finished 10th at the limeworks!!!!
  4. I think youre taking the definition provided by the dictionary too literally. I would go as far to say the dictionary is inaccurate or wrong (certainly not the first time). Wikipedia (not exactly a more reliable source lol) has a section on non racing motorsports which includes trials. Its impossible to define it as anything else im afraid, and one person that would definitely view it as a sport would be your insurance company if the situation ever arose. They look for a chance to get out of everything
  5. But it is pronounced jota as a letter J, so in any acronym or initialism it will be pronounced Jota. Just as when we see the letters JGas (which clearly isnt a word we recognise) we in English would not try to pronounce it as its written but say instead "J....Gas". In spanish this is Jota....gas. How do you say HRC? Surely you dont say something sounding like "herka". Or WWF? "Wuawuaf"? JGas is a kind of half acronym, initialism, so should be pronounced as one, Jota_Gas
  6. A "J" in Spanish is called Jota, same in Portuguese, the guy is 100% correct. You're failing at trying to make him look stupid

    Side Stand mods

And then the bike runs out of fuel halfway through the section! Been there done that, more than once
  8. I didnt realise you were meaning junk as in their build quality. In regards braking efficiency they are better than the AJP
  9. You're missing the point, they aren't, they're killing it! Today, its infinitely easier to makes things more accessible, yet theyve found a way to make it less
  10. Anyone remember when they used to have a trial review dvd at the end of the year? Outdoor and indoor Anyone remember in the 90s when they had a whole dvd/vhs just for sheffield alone?!!!!!!
  11. For me indoor trials peaked in the 90s, early 00s, its been downhill ever since. You just need to look at the sections, (especially Vendee) they arent much better than your local trials display team sections, few cable reels, skips, concrete blocks, and scaffolding that looks like its been brought in from the nearest building site
  12. Well until recently he was the best UK rider on a sherco, so i guess. Swapped it out for a reiger. Personally i think the ohlins is a little old hat at the moment, reiger have certainly took things to a new level.
  13. Know of a few people not impressed with the ohlins in the back of the sherco. Dead is all they say.
  14. I know you should never go against a manual but 40:1 seems a tad much to me. Had a few sy scorpas back then, rode them pretty hard too, was always using between 50:1 to 60:1 motul 710 with no problems. And that was recommended by the UK importer at the time. 40:1 is more tyz mixtures
  15. If you ride muddy terrain a lot, 4th gear in a section can come in very handy for big hills and the like. Not every trial, but when the section arises hitting it hard in forth makes all the difference, while those in 3rd struggle. Impossible on a 5 speeder, but with a little clutch and some revs on a 6 speeder, man can it shift!!! In other words, with a 6 speed, 4th is lower than in a 5 speed, making it usuable in a section. Very rarely but it is usable. PS Maybe its just the power a GG pumps out and has nothing to do with a lower 4th
  16. This is like the truest thing ive read in a while lol
  17. Definitely looks rich. Id expect a bike that has a plug like that to run noticeably lumpy or nearly oil up. You could lean the mixture, but be very careful because the last thing you want is a new bike running too weak! Usually in the cold weather bikes need a richer mixture, so again, kind of unusual.
  18. Agee, even light riding the fan is usually on within 5 minutes, 10 minutes top. A bike left at tickover for 15 minutes still shouldnt be that sooted oiled up Looks too rich to me, as opposed to too much oil
  19. 15 minutes is well long enough to get a bike warm and for a plug reading. Dont know what the running time has got to do with unburnt oil in the silencer. The state that plug is in i doubt if he run the bike continuously for a week it would look any better!
  20. Being in shape invariably helps, the less mass you have to move the easier it is to hop. But the one thing about trials that most people like is that fitness and strength play a minor role to skill and technique. Theres a lot of heavy guys that can hop very well, and also lots of guys straight from the gym that struggle to lift the front wheel nevermind the back! Dabill and maybe Ferrer and Casales are the tallest heaviest guys on the world tour. Dabill is around 6'1, 180 ish pounds i would guess from seeing him in person
  21. Fair play for really attempting at trying to get this. Youre close. Easier to learn on an up slope, which it looks like you are. Work the legs more, bounce on those pegs!! Looks like most of your input is through your arms at the moment
