  1. Activity on the trials forums is very light. If you posted similar questions on an MX forum you would have lots of advice. And since its a TLM you are asking about then info will be even harder to come by than if you were asking about a Fantic or something similar. It's just a numbers thing. I would say the best thing to do some basic prep to your bike as it is and go and ride some trials on it. `There you will meet others that the TLM (if you are lucky) and you can get the low down from them. Failing that you will get the feel for things could be improved as you are using the bike and then set about improving it your self. have you had a look for TLM user groups? Good luck. I think they are nice little bikes. Glenn.
  2. My 240 has a 241 motor, the front mount plates were modified to lift the motor slightly to clear the frame. The exhaust had a slice removed and rejoined to take account of the mew motor position. Nice job, avoiding hacking the frame.
  3. You may have a damaged/cut tyre which only lets air out once a revolution when it flexes at the bottom. Just putting an idea out there. I had a rear tyre on a CB500 that went down only if I parked it with the wheel in the wrong place.
  4. Yup, get one of these. A tool for life. I use a little spray paint to slide the grip on and then three bands of aircraft lock wire, one at each end and one in the middle. Been doing this for 20 years in enduro and trials, never had a grip come loose once. Even in the wet with the end ripped off.
  5. No need for that chaps. It's just a question. Personally I would not dream of trying to convert it, I love the 241s and am looking out for one. They will be the next Fantics to go up in value as the air cooled mono class pick up. Love it for what it is or sell it someone that will and then go get a twinnie if thats what you are after. Only my opinion.
  6. Ask on the KTM forum. Lots of good dudes in there. http://www.ktmforum.co.uk/forum.php

    Fantic 403

    Restore the twinny.
  8. Hi all, I was just out fitting a new IRC rear tyre to my 240 and noticed it had no rim lock, or hole for one. I also noticed it looked like a rim which was designed to need a high pressure to pop the tyre onto the rim, i.e it had the extra ridge inside the rim. Is that normal on a Fantic trial bike. I have had a few enduro fantics and years back a 200 and dont recall this feature. I also found it quite easy to "break the bead by standing" on the tyre. With a tubeless tyre this would not have been the case. As a precaution I drilled the rim and fitted a rim lock. Did I do wrong? The rim is an Akront and is gold. Is that normal too or had someone changed the rims at some point? Many thanks. Glenn
  9. Or maybe, get an engineering shop to mill the old clamps off and through bolt some of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/360529505216?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&chn=ps&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108
  10. Have a look at these, thinking of getting mine done. I will probably ask if they can do a pair for normal bars, I would like to keep the old school look. http://www.classictrial.co.uk/fatbartopyokes.html
  11. Did you ride it then? Bloody slippery!
  12. How on earth can anyone sell a product that needs dents hammering in to it to fit? Cant be right, can it?
  13. Any idea which lid id the best ventilated? I rode today and mine was saturated and it's the middle of winter! In the summer they end up stinking in no time. God it was good in the old days when wearing a lid was optional!
  14. Hi, I got to ride my 240 today in a trial. It runs very well. Starts so easy, runs nice and clean, no stalls, nice smooth power, very tractable. Jetting on my OKO is P 35, M100. However the tank is a standard one and I filled it most of the way to the top, I was surprised to have it go on reserve in a 4 lap x 10 section trial on a relatively small ground although it was muddy. Dunno why it drinks so much fuel. I dont recall my 300 using that much back in the days when I could still drink and shag on the same night.
  15. Thats cleared that up then. lol
  16. I thought the OKO was supposed to be a better carb for the Fantics, I have one on my 240 but not ridden it yet, I will Sunday. Mine also has a later engine but is still 212 cc. Is yours a 249?

    My New 240

Hi all, ha couple of fantics back in the day, a 78 200 and a 300. Been riding quite a bit on a 2013 Gasser and got the itch to get a shocker, so I did, a nice 240. Nice bike with a few mods, relocated pegs, high bars, OKO carb, and a few other nice bits. Generaly in very good condition. It has Trik Shocks which dont seem to have much damping, is this normal? Jetting is P 35, M 100. Sound about right? I paid £1500 for her and was wondering it that was a good price? Many thanks Glenn Got my first outing at a trial at Drews farm on Sunday. Cant wait.
  19. I had a Fantic 125 that used to do this, once I pulled up with it ticking over, had a chat and then pulled off again, backwards! It changed while ticking over! We then used to bump it backwards and have loads of fun trying to master backwards riding, we never did. I had a 250 Bultaco that did this on a climb when I paused and then sat down gave it hand full let the clutch out and promptly shot backwards down the hill ending in a rather ugly mess at the bottom!
  20. As said use a fine stone to flatten the ding and then fill any hole or scratch with an epoxy resin and fine paper to smooth it flat.
  21. I ride in the southmidland center. Nothing to stop me riding in my normal trials but thought riding in a classic event now and then might be fun.
  22. Hi, is there such a thing in the UK as an Air Cooled Mono Class at classic or twinshock trials? Thanks.
  23. Here is a report. http://larstrialinfo.nl/?p=581 Gas Gas make fntastic enduro bikes that are selling very well along with the Beta Enduro weapons. KTM sales have be very dented by them.
  24. Cool, let us know how it progresses. It was an enduro buddy of mine that put me on to it, he was a karate nutter and told me they used it for tennis elbow so I gave it a go.
