  1. $300 MSF Course in USA takes you as far as Mod 1 Test that you describe and you are fully licensed. This included a bike to ride during the course. Instruction isn't mandatory here for the motorcycle endorsement. Written test for learners permit and road test for about $100. This can be done with casual training. More complicated if starting from scratch for a drivers license with motorcycle endorsement at same time. So it's $1000 to go through everything to Mod 2 Test?
  2. How so? MSF in the USA is four 8 hour days of practical riding and class room theory, with a written and ridden exam.
  3. I bet he will. Euro top riders in all disciplines, get some pretty serious Physiotherapy after surgery or injury compared to us mortals!
  4. Wow! Way cheaper in the USA. In my State about $400 if you go through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course or as little as $100 if you take the State road test.
  5. My religious beliefs preclude me from games of chance, but you'll get bragging rights if you're right! I still think I'm going to be right though, especially if Bou has a say in it. Watching Fajardo interact with other riders at Strasbourg and then watching Bou still be all smiles and handshakes with Busto reinforces that. Fajardo doesn't seem to like anyone and I doubt he likes Busto very much. The new GG showing Dabill the door half way through his contract, surely isn't making Fajardo feel too comfy. His and Busto's lackluster performance so far isn't making anyone over there sleep well. I'm pretty sure they are already plotting, how to get Gelabert away from Sherco next season.
  6. The log section was new at Strasbourg... and tricky!
  7. +2 for Mechanix gloves.
  8. Although I feel for Cabestany, Sherco seems to have made the right decision in pinning it hopes on Gelabert and showing Cabes the door. Cabes is the tip of the iceberg, in what's going to be a shift in world trials. Fuji is probably next, he'll go home to ride the Japanese National Series and be a Brand Ambassador for Honda/Montesa. My guess is neither Farado or Busto will stay a second season with Gas Gas. Busto will end up getting a Prodigal Son's welcome, back at HRC.
  9. New York State dealers should just get UK models, as our conditions are so similar! LOL!
  10. Another vote for the Tryals Shop.
  11. I ride a 125 and it's only a couple of pounds lighter than a 250/300, unlike the difference between a 125 and 250/300 MX or Enduro bike.

    125

That vintage Sherco 125 is a little down on power compared to a newer 125's But probably a fine bike to start on. Airbox/fender fit can be a problem, as airbox can deform a bit.

What brand dubbin do you recommend?
  15. Oil capacity discussed in this thread..... http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/tweaking-the-2017-sherco-scorpa-diaphragm-clutch.1249463/
  16. Who is your dealer? That's the place to start asking. Those bikes just got to RYP a week and a half ago and were shipped out to the dealers. My '18 Scorpa 125 Factory got to the Tryals Shop last week. I've ridden it twice and haven't even looked at the owners manual yet. On my '17 Scorpa, the manual was for a '16 and not very comprehensive.
  17. Good info in this thread on ADV Rider..... http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/tweaking-the-2017-sherco-scorpa-diaphragm-clutch.1249463/
  18. The difference between a downhill MTB helmet and a motorcycle helmet is just as you say... 20# bicycle versus 200# motorcycle falling on your head. FIM is requiring full face helmets for Youth riders starting this year, so expect a decent full face Trials helmet to be coming along soon.
  19. Busto was very on at first FIM X-Trial, so I'm not sure if it's the bike? Cool to see Gelabert riding so well!
  20. He looked pretty on at first X-Trial round!
  21. I'm just starting to work on this myself, but the weather here isn't cooperating and I'm in between bikes! I look at it as a progression of skills.... Use your clutch control to work on just holding pressure when you ride over a small log or rock and don't let the front come right down. Then add in a little rear brake to pause for a second holding pressure at the top off the obstacle. Then some clutch and throttle to jump off the obstacle still holding pressure, instead of rolling off or just dropping the front end. You're now well on your way to hopping and when you have this down you can apply it without the obstacle. I think this is an easier way to put the skills together, than just beating the crap out of yourself on a slight incline or the flat.
  22. Thank you heffergm! $49.02 US for the season pass, so $7 US a trial for the remaining events. PayPal made it painless, so I'm in!
  23. I see the explanation of the season pass, but don't see a link to purchase it? The only links I see are to purchase the individual events. Could someone point it out?
