  1. Thanks Charlie, the strap I am talking about would be 120 / 150mm diameter
  2. Does anyone know where I can get the front fuel tank retaining rubber strap, the type used on the Holtworks style tank that hold around the mushroom / bobbin type thing at the front. Thanks in advance
  3. That's not a Drayton, it is one of Stavs over priced bikes . There have been 2 Draytons for sale this week and both have been sold.
  4. Engine is a WR 250
  5. On later bikes especially Japanese what was a fashion was also a money saver for the factory as the casting and alloy content could be of a cheaper quality, not a problem if any markings in the cases as they were going to be painted. ACF 30 is a good protection for blasted cases. Being nosey what sort of price was the vapour blasting ??
  6. Exactly Jon, trouble is as you know they are fitters now not really mechanics any more, more so with a main dealer ship. Fair play to your lad for pursuing the trade and seeing through it for what it is. He is best to get relevant paper work and move on . Car and bike trade is full of people who can plug in a gizmo and fault find. The argument goes on and on, no real metal work classes or lathes in schools etc etc .
  7. Because he gets involved in things that can make good viewing. If as mentioned he had a camera crew then it would boost the sport , classic trials outside of Scottish pre 65 needs as much of a boost as possible. No new young blood coming into the sport etc etc etc ... In all fairness there was probably no time to get a crew to do much, there is no 2nd take .
  8. Well OTF I could have penned those words myself to the letter. Pity Guy couldn't make it to the presentation .. No , I still can't find those rose tinted specs.
  9. Looks like it will be as much good as the much talked about """"""""""""""legacy"""""""""""""" at the Olympics a few years ago then , I shouldn't be sorry for being a realist but other than bringing a few to the trial ( maybe ??) what did it do for the sport ?
  10. Does anyone know whether Guy had a film crew of any sort with him. It will only be really worthwhile if it gets coverage outside the trials fraternity , it is what is really needed.
  11. I agree Charlie, let's hope he has a film crew with him .
  12. I like Guy Martin don't get me wrong but he will not be gaining any fans when he turns up as if he is playing in the woods not walking some sections and many others are busting for a ride but get turned away . Who was it that thought it a good idea ??
  13. It's the same whine that you hear in straight cut gears in old Minis and Escorts. It is as said above the gear teeth.
  14. There are inflated prices and now there seem to be Telford prices.
  15. Thanks Charlie. http://www.bsaotter.com/britannia_motorcycles_bsa__frame_conversion.html
  16. Towards bottom of this page..... http://www.bsaotter.com/2015_news_page..html
  17. Just came across this on Charlies site. Obviously the B25 is not a Pre 65 and falls into the Twinshock category unless your club has a Pre 70 class like the BMCA. This is vid number 1. there are follow ups.
  18. Yes exactly, spoken to someone that builds a lot of Bantam 3 spd race engines recently, they don't hang about.
  19. Just wondered if any other Bantam riders are using a earlier 3 spd engine ? If so what gearing etc and have you had any problems? I use a 4 speed myself but rarely see any 3 speed out there.

  22. I doubt re sale values of vw's in the long term will be affected , in time when they have been sorted then all is well. I think mine is too early but it wouldn't bother me. May have been a panic for a short while when it was all over the news as there was a panic on when we were all eating horse meat last year. Last weeks news is this week fish and chip paper as they say. Joe public have a short memory, I hear Vauxhalls are self combusting nowadays.
  23. Caddy, spot on, can get 2 in, bit of a squeeze.
  24. I am building another Bantam, you can buy a lower 2nd gear set and a higher top which would be handy in a road trial which I have in my new engine. I can't see the advantage of a 5 speed cluster, maybe okay on a road bike but the road bike fraternity don't spend the same sort of money on their bikes as the trials riders.
  25. Tried to send you a PM Jon but your inbox is full.
