OK, you can't fool us. It's Big John with another nick.
Nah, welcome. You'll find lots of experience on these boards.

Ah now that dates you. Mike must have thrown up the KTM agency in about '85 (Butch was/is a thieving bar steward) and taken the Kwaka agency. I bought a KDX from him in '86 and started riding enduros after riding trials in CT for 13 years prior to that. I never rode at SSW but practiced many times at Maccassar. I stopped riding Maccassar when I figured that someone was going to connect with a local and kill them. Started riding at Atlantis after that. So you must know Ivo Layte, Derek Morillion, Richard Giddy and Dennis Pederson?
Used to go out to Malmesbury regularly but never rode MX.
So we must have just missed each other in enduros. Des, you haven't come across a guy called Phil Larson (fat Phil) down your way have you? Ex CT enduro rider. Very nice guy. He bailed about ten years ago and found a job with some mob who make black boxes for 'planes. I've been trying to hunt him down for few years now. Nothing. Not even on FaceBook.
Have a look at http://www.cape-enduro.co.za.
TFT
*Edit* Oh! I've just remembered the SSW enduros, you mean Sir Lowrys Pass. I helped lay a few out on a trials bike with Kevin, Ivo & Dennis. No wonder you thought they were rocky.

Tucker, Hout Bay & Somerset West are now large squatter camps. Unemployment is at 50% and skilled people are being made redundant in favour of people of colour, skilled or not. Leaving SA is a no-brainer.

I've been on both sides of the fence and am now quite happy to be a worker bee.
-
My old man used to hit me on the knuckles with a stick if he saw me touch the clutch in a section. Apart from that he didn't pressure me at all. Really.

You've obviously never been exposed to my wifes baking...

Thanks Perce. I thought that the north was traditionally labour territory (strong working class etc). I'd never figure Richmond as the safest Tory seats in the UK.
Ish, house prices have been climbing all over the place. In 1995 there was a loss of confidence in pension schemes (as a late baby boomer all the pension funds will have been spent by the time I reach retirement age, I suspect there are quite a lot of people on these boards in the same boat) and investors moved from pension schemes to property. However, property prices have now reached a level where they are unsustainable, hence the gradual stagnation and in some cases lowering of those prices.

Are you sure that Horatio isn't pulling the p*ss again?

Eh? I thought they spoke English over the ditch. They have every time I've visited. Oh hang on..
Make up your mind Howard.
I thought Aus was founded by convicts
Nah, seriously. I think that article summed up a lot of peoples thoughts.
Perce, things must be bad if even dyed-in-the-wool Yorkies like yourself are miffed with labour.

And labour and liberal.....

What's this thread got to do with bums? Unless you're talking about Heath.

Thanks Motofire. I know that FDRs tenure as president was exceptional, dealing first with extricating the US from the depression & secondly during the war.
Copemech, Churchill was a political slut. He changed parties more often than you or I change underwear. Eventually he was banished to the political wilderness for his lack of political morals. During this period he worked tirelessly to make the world aware of the threat that both Hitler and Stalin posed. Many people considered his views on these matters unbalanced.
-
Calm down Copemech, nobody's attacking the US here. The US have taken an (almost, Saudi aside) uncomprising attitude towards Islamic terrorism. An attitude that is by and large applauded by peoples in the west. The point is that Bush lied about Iraq (WMD and all that) and committed US troops and troops of other countries by intimidation to a war that had nothing to do with islamic terrorism. Afganistan was and remains a very different story.
Incidently, AFAIK the two term policy is something of a gentlemans agreement and is not described in the US constitution. FDR served 3 and a bit terms. The presidency is, however, the only public office in the US where the incumbant must be US born. So no Arnie in the white house.

Yeah, it's a tapered needle arrangement. Adjustment of which results in a rod moving up and down as the needle is moved in and out. The break VERY easily. I know this because I've broken one. If the shock is blown I know of a guy who can repair. However P&P might be excessive.

If I've got the right story, Knighter was pathetic. That knocks him right down IMO. Knighters saving grace was his attitude to Taddy.
The fan site is a disappointment. Who are these little punks? Never heard of Taddy? Ignorant philistines!

Somewhere on the eastern front:
A Tiger tank stalls just before the crest of a hill leading to a small town, tanks empty.
Along come three Jews. They have a quick discussion about the price that scrap metal can fetch and then start to push.
The tank moves a few yards and then one Jew collapses, clutching his chest.
There is a minor discussion about the improved fund distribution situation. Pushing recommences.
Another Jew collapses, knocks his head on a rock, and lies out cold, with the tank just a few yards from the crest of the hill, scrapyard in sight.
After a brief rest, the last Jew pust his shoulder to the tank and gives it everything he has. The tank reaches the top of the hill and rocks backwards and forwards a couple of times, before falling back and crushing the last Jew.
The hatch pops open and the commander looks around.
"Vot has happened mein Kapitan?"
"ach, vee haff run out af Joose"
