Dim & distant past..MCN used to have competition, Motorcycle I think. They had a regular trials column before they went belly-up. After Nigel Birkett visited South Africa (back in the days of apartheid, naughty Nigel) the trials columnist said that a black guy had been shot in a section the day before a trial. It was a complete fabrication.

Not being a resident of them fair isles I'm a bit cautious about adding anything. But the problems experience or criticisms leveled at the plod in the UK are, to a lesser degree, also leveled in this country.
Eiger, I can only assume that you are in agreement with the copper that blogged his dissatisfaction with bureaucracy he experience and that he was packing his bags and going to Canada to do some real policing? His experience put the situation into perspective and that the vast majority of coppers would rather be pounding the beat and interacting with the community they serve than shuffling paper and manipulating statistics.
IMO the plod started losing the game when the local P.C. couldn't give a local tearaway a swift crack on the chops with his glove without fear of legal retribution.

Not quite John. They had an investor who pulled out a while back and found another to replace them. The investor holds 40% and the remainder is held by Casas & Piebernat.
When Gas Gas start shedding riders they are developing a new model. It's a pattern I've picked up over the years.
Anyway, very unlikely Gasser have a financial interest in Xispa.

Good point Dabster although I was probably a better mechanic at 17 than I am now but that's 'cause we so spoilt with reliable bikes these days. It must be 13 years since I last split a motor. When I was 17 I used to do it twice a year.

Beg to differ on this point Julian, it's (IMO) Alexz' fault. It's his ride and he's responsible for making sure everything's fine & dandy whether or not he worked on it.

Yeah but there isn't a lot of love between KTM and Gasser in enduros. I would have thought a Beta would have been a more appropriate choice considering how cosy Beta & KTM are.
Car? One of those sporty KTM numbers? If it isn't he should have one written into his contract. They look like a lot of fun.

To revive this thread, see the Finnish championship thread on TodoTrial for Salminens results in that championship. Interestingly he was riding a Gasser. I wonder how that sat with KTM management?
