  1. Sadly I must admit that I once endured a very unpleasant experience involving the "Pride of Strangeways". It involved an awful lot of them and it hurt the following morning.
  2. Keep trying. You'll get to a point where you don't care.
  3. If you can get a copy of Lane Leavitts (Mich Lins) book it has some great beginner exercises. Do not under-estimate the value of three bricks in the driveway.
  4. I hope you're not talking about Andy's choice of women...
  5. Nothing to with Andy. The pre-65 Scottish is run by a separate committee and they're notoriously tardy with the results.
  6. Really? I would have thought that a place like Duluth which recently hosted two world championship rounds would be teeming with trials riders.
  7. Nobody risen to the bait. Sad.
  8. Odd scoring system? Hrmph! Proper scoring system more like..bloody whippersnappers...<flame_suit=on>
  9. He he. Hird looking like he's modeling the latest in Highland apparel. All he needs is a labrador. John, I think the best way to find Ian is through Big John. Ian's got some parts for him so Big John will know who to look for. What happened in the Alex in '05? Did you get thrown out?
  10. Couple coming from this neck of the woods. Ian Braithwaite (Auckland), Nigel Shilton (Tauranga) & Steve Armistad (Thames). John, see if you can dig up Ian. Ian's a good lad. He'll probably (!) be in the in the Alex in the evenings.
  11. Dis goed dat ek kan 'n bietjie hollandse lees.
  12. The rear suspension is packing. That means that the rear shock is compressing but not having a quick enough rebound and as a result gets compressed until all the suspension is used up. Check the sag and then set the rebound damping to the middle setting. Ride a pass over the area where the packing occurs and then change the rebound damping, one click at a time, until you're happy.
  13. Congratulations to the Aussies for lifting the Cricket World Cup (again). A few weeks ago I was stopped by an (ex) Indian at passport control at Sydney airport, "who's going to win?" he asked me after seeing my SA passport with NZ perm residency. "Aus" I replied (not wanting to end up being questioned by immigration!). But it was IMO a foregone conclusion even then. Well done. Now can we have Stefan back?
  14. Correct, Sammy finished third in the world championship on an NSU. Then stopped road racing 'cause he thought it was too dangerous.
  15. That's the one CK. Ta very.
  16. Bit far away from you for a practice session hey Barry
  17. What's the song about a guy who couldn't cry by Johnny Cash? You know, dog died, lost house, wife left him but he didn't shed a tear? It's not "cry cry cry".
  18. If you feel it is unjust and want to preserve the future of trials and not just Addingham Moorside, sign the petition. Its not really to do with lining the Chancellors pockets. It will also demonstrate the depth of feeling this issue has Worldwide. It has everything to do with being a taxpayer. For example if I, as an Iranian citizen, can determine your immigration quota and elect to admit unlimited unskilled Iranians, would you as a British taxpayer be happy? I think not. Who am I to determine UK policy? However, your third paragraph has merit but I would suggest that the petition be presented with this statement attached. Done.
  19. Nobody's answered my question, would it be sensible and morally correct for me to sign?
  20. Guys I would like to sign the petition and it's no skin off my nose if I do but I have contributed not a cent to chancellors coffers having never lived in the UK as a tax payer. I do however have inalienable rights to residence in the UK, would this be enough? Don't forget that if the local bureaucrats start trawling through the petition and discover the above it could jeopardize the whole issue.

  22. For those of you who have lived in Texas, you know how true this is. They actually have a Chili Cook-off about the time Halloween comes around. It takes up a major portion of a parking lot at the San Antonio City Park. The notes are from an inexperienced Chili taster named Frank, who was visiting from Springfield, IL. Frank:
