Not enough to matter. I believe the 2002 had mag cases.

    Second cap is the overflow.
  4. If your bike has all the original stickers it could be worth keeping. I have had many bikes through the years. I never imagined I would ever ride vintage. Looking back there is three bikes I should have kept. I bought a new ty350 and sold my TL250 with a 300 kit and all the frame mods. I had a clean 1984 350 Montesa and a showroom condition Gagiva 350. All bikes seemed worthless at the time, all of which I wished I had now. ( The Gagiva is still like new, a collector bought it). Besides it is always great to have a spare to bring other riders into the sport.
  5. My wife finally got back on a bike about two years ago. In `93 I bought her a TLR200. She lasted about two hours until she launched it in a tree. The wide open throttle is the worst problem we have and the lanyard does not over come panic in a rider. I`ve had many vehicles since the 70`s with the tether switches. In fact I bought one for my trials bike in the mid 90`s. I still have it in the original package. I`ve thought about this longer than most. Interesting thing when I scored the world round in the USA, a couple riders just looped it on the bars.
  6. Oh , I knew someone would respond. I understand it was posted under youth. I`m surprised how fast the idea has spread. Motorcycles are dangerous. Being competitive I`m not liking an accidental 5 from the ignition shut down, or a dnf from a missing lanyard. Been sitting about 50/50 on this issue. Thanks for replying. Seen any of the moto x guys changing to this? We have had a few of the eastern clubs go to this already.
  7. Make sure you ride it. Get it hot, make the fan work. No matter the brand you want the cooling system to work before purchase.

Should be a second hole in the shroud next to the gas cap.
  9. You flooded the cylinder, had nothing to do with the mix.
  10. The funny thing is the switches have been around for decades now. Anyone can see why the world riders could use them as the obstacles are just insane at times. I can almost agree with the kids. I have ridden for 42 years now and honestly say I do not remember a crash (I have had some great ones!)that the tether would have done much good. Being it is a competitive sport, I see more problems than solutions. Anyone with half a brain can wire it just for looks. So when someone crashes and is injured due to the lanyard being pulled, what then? Just curious.
  11. Info, What does the plug look like? Has it been sitting a long time? If the rod or bearing is bad, it cares not if it is hot or cold.
  12. An o-ring chain has may applications. One of them is not on a trials bike. They are heavy and power robbing. How many miles do you think you ride every time out? Our bikes usually have low miles , high hours. I usually go through two standard chains per a set of sprockets, which is still cheaper than one o-ring chain. (I know that you learned that was not proper, but our sport is quite different.)

    Glad you found it!
  14. He`s likely got soft hands and grips too hard. I always had large calluses. But if I rode all day I would still get them. After a desert race I would have blood all down the front of me. Finally when trials grips came along(They are a tad longer) and just a slight reposition of the hand helped. It was always both thumbs.

Since you had the meter out, did you verify the grounds with the meter? And did you try for spark with the kill switch completely removed?
  16. Tlrmark is spot on with the advice. Usually I would say the burning smoke was good for the bike. This last summer I melted a mid-pipe from oil build up. Too many 5th gear wheelies at high elevation.
  17. I had the same thing yesterday. Changed out an Ajp new style to an old ajp. They made about 4 changes between levers. In the end I had to move the Master cylinder two inches to have a similar feel. Also a tight bushing will give a heavy feel.
  18. Discovered while changing out the lever. It`s his girl friends bike. I see this all the time with trials Dad`s. Takes something to go wrong to realize there is a change in the bikes behavior
  19. That is a rim lock. In the early 90`s the factories tried tubeless in the front, did not work well. So we have tube in front, tubeless in the back!

Have you pulled spark plug cap off and checked cap. Also clip plug wire back to some fresh wire. You need to pull flywheel off to make sure the key did not shear. Also being the bike was apart check the stator plate.

I would say you are close at 281. Reading farther in the post a guy had 291 and had spark. The K might have been a error.
  22. JFC explained it. It is a rubber mount, if you drill it you will have more of a solid mount. Mounts are way cheaper than a radiator.

Make sure you did not lose the new ground. Too many of the new switches are made in china. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/25835-info-on-how-to-test-the-stator-in-a-rev-3-2003-to-2007/
  24. It`s not fine, the bike broke today but seems to be other issues.
  25. Not much to worry about. Tubeless tires often lose air . Should always check the tire pressure before every ride anyway. As long as it holds for a day or two it will be fine.
