  1. Clean the carb, clean the petcock and change the oil. Fuel at 50:1 and give her a test ride!
  2. Just buy a cheap 520 chain of the same length (as what came with the bike) if the rear sprocket is not obviously worn badly.
  3. You do not need any changes to go to 10t.
  4. Try a plug as stated. Either the plug went or the cylinder filled up with fluid while you ate.
  5. Full size vans are the way to go with bikes. I always preferred the Dodge. The chevy full size usually got better mileage than the Astro. The Astro drove fine, but you sure give up a lot of room for no cost savings. Best way to travel with the bikes secure and no parking problems vs everyone driving a bus nowadays.
  6. The clutch and changing the oil have nothing in common. So how much oil did you put in?
  7. I know the tool you are talking about, but never had needed it. I`ve never seen the bolts not come out as long as there was spring pressure.
  8. The weight he was looking at is on the primary side of the crank. I know my 270`s had them, 125 and 200 it looks unlikely. I can not see that it would make much difference if not changing out the crank.
  9. Just read it again this morning. Did you use just an allen wrench or an air gun?
  10. The bolt should have come out. Trouble is were it stuck. You have the springs and cap back in? You might get lucky holding the bolt straight while someone else tries to guide it onto the bolt. Did the bolts stick on both forks. I would be worried that the aluminum cup on the end of the rod would some how not line up.
  11. Well even if they had the same stroke the problem lies in the 2mm difference in the top end bearing.
  12. So if you are sure about the lower being the same. The question is not needed. The 200 is a sweet bike, but I never had one apart. I would worry about your info as the crank and rod kits are different for the 200. You are right about the internet info though. Ron Commo would be the only source I would trust in the states. Other wise call Beta in the UK.
  13. Get the cap off an old hypoid bottle. It will fit most, except the new wide mouth. http://www.spraysmar...CFfFj7AodgDkAzg
  14. No, you should not have to bleed. What most new riders do is get the adjustments just right for the hands and then there is no room left for the piston (in the master cyl.) to do it`s job properly.
  15. Buy on condition more than brand. All brands have problems of one sort or another. If you have found a local dealer you like, take his advise but do not just look at the stock he has at the moment. Most parts are available from 2002 and newer, except some plastics (correct colors).
  16. You are talking the crank gear and cup which is larger for the 270. This project will cost more than a new bike, as you need a new crank assembly. You need the expertise of Ron Commo, but last I heard he was in the middle of moving and not a word since.
  17. For starters you probably took out all the free play try to make it fit your hand. Loosen all the adjustments, start over and leave some free play at the lever.
  18. Big difference from an old Beta to a Gasser that does not track well just by standing on it. You have to squat and lean way back compared to a Beta. Also do you have any flywheel weight installed? Have fun figuring it out!
  19. Just a word of caution, things happen fast on the new bikes. You might look at the 2002 - 2005 models if you can find a good one. 200-250cc at the most. If after 6 months you are happy with the sport, then start trying all the new models.
  20. The finger height on the clutch could be out of spec. Front brake, usually would be firm. Question would be how well does it work?
  21. (many thanks for getting back to me bikes not that old to be honest maybe 4 month old not lke its had much use but will have a look see whats happening with them. End QUOTE) Totally going over the bike before you ride is what needs to be done. Spanish bikes are famous for not being greased.
  22. Sounds like it is time (should have been done before it was ridden) to check the steering head bearings and grease them.
  23. First thing to do would be a proper carb clean and make sure the jets are in spec for your elevation. Sounds like the idle circuit and choke circuit is plugged up. Did you just get the bike? Has it been sitting. Also a quick check is to remove the flywheel cover, grab the flywheel and check for play. Being a 2002 the main bearings could be long gone.
  24. Great result! Let us know in a week or two if it is still all good.
  25. Put a large sledge hammer against the one fork as a back up. Then push it through.(Tap it , don`t break it) Have had this happen even on a new bike.
